I've only watched episode 1 of DT so this is what I can say so far:
somewhat similar art style
Same type of world/kingdom with fighting, magic and flying creatures.
The main characters are somewhat similar
The main characters ends up in another world in a really weird way
and both animes have a little of "crossdressing" too
The animes are similar, but of course different. Ixion Saga is also about a boy transported to another world, however he is not the leader, but becomes a knight chosen by the leader. The humour element is strong in both anim; they get you laughing.
Kyo Kara Maoh is definitely the superior of the two, since Ixion Saga seems to fizzle a bit after a few episodes, but it's still worth a watch. Kyo Kara Maoh, however, stays strong the whole way through and never lets the fan forget why they're watching.
