both samurai and have awesome art and fighting scenes

They both are set in the same time period. They portray a very dark and violent view of this era and boost fantastic fights. The main characters of both series seem to have a similar dynamic with a more talkative 10 year old boy and a quieter badass. Both shows also involve one of the duo being sacrificed to a demon. In Sword of the Stanger, No Name is protecting the kid from being sacrificed, while in Dororo, Hyakkimaru has already been sacrificed.

Both animes have a very similar story (a guardian figure, in the form of a very skillful warrior, protecting the weaker innocent.) Seirei no moribito, being a tv series based on an epic fantasy novel series, obviously contains much more details in terms of story, characters and the setting. Sword of the stranger lacks that detail since its only a movie targeted at a smaller audience. If you want a more fast paced, adrenaline-driven version of moribito with better action, then you dont need to look further than stranger - Mukoh Hadan. Though moribito has much more depth in terms of story and is much  read more

Similar overall feel, being both movies about samurai (or ronin, in the case of Sword of the Stranger) on a mission, along the way facing off against a near invincible foe. Sword of the Stranger is grounded in a more gritty realism, but the action and characters aren't as jaw-droppingly cool as in Ninja Scroll.

Both these movies are set in a similar kinda time period (the beginings of guns and gunpowder) with Princess Mononoke being more fantasical Also they both deal with the conflict of ideals and loyalty.

Both shows take place in feudal Japan, a time during which samurai were prominent. Although the plot is widely different between Tsuiokuhen and Sword of the Stranger, each show gives amazing and graphic sword battles in conjunction with a beautiful soundtrack. In addition, the feeling that both shows give you can be deemed similar.

I got a similar vibe off both, tears were shed in both and their are swords...

Both involves sealed sword and passionate samurais.

Although Stranger: Mukou Hadan is not a comedy anime and Gintama is mainly a comedy, both have the same vibe, atmosphere, era, and great sword fights. If you liked serious arcs of Gintama, you probably like Stranger: Mukou Hadan as well. I highly recommend both to watch if you like the samurai theme.

Both are samurai dramas with similarly dark but beautiful art. House of Five Leaves is much more of a slice of life drama, with hardly any action in it. Sword of the Stranger has a ton of action. But they somehow both feel very comparable. The feel of the rustic buildings, the leaves falling from the trees as two swordsmen stare each other down, it feels like the characters could bump into each other at any time. If you are a fan of samurai anime in general, neither of these should be missed. They are both masters at what they do.

Similar atmospheres. Contiguous eras. These 2 anime show vagrant warriors (a monk in Asura, a ronin in Sword of the Stranger), who, one way or another, save and form a bond with a young neglected boy.

Both have beautifully animated fights. While OPM's fights are more about scale and impressiveness, Sword of the Stranger puts more of a focus on fight choreography.

Same duo of a ronin and a boy. A ronin with strange and unusual high skills on combat is recruited by a young boy that's trying to desperatly save his dog.

The thing that both of these series have in common is that the actual actions of the sword fight tells us more about the characters than the show or movies need to explain. The clash of the swordsman and their styles tell us about the character's motivations and aspirations. What does it mean to be a swordsman? what does the sword symbolize? If you like sword fighting anime's you'll appreciate both of these series

Although these series aren't terribly similar in terms of setting or plot, what links them together is their fights. If you, like myself, believe Fate/Zero to have some of the best fights in all of anime and craved more even after watching other installments in the Fate franchise, Mukou Hadan is the anime for you. Everything about the fights within this movie whether it be the animation, the choreography or even the directing is just as phenomenal, if not more so than Fate. If awesome fights that go above and beyond your typical shounen match are your thing, Mukou Hadan is worth watching.

The setting to both the anime is very different - Stranger being a Samurai setting. But again, the relation between a kid and an adult is shown in a very similar way here as well. The last sequence of both the movies boast epic action scenes. The kid character is also very similar in both anime.

Single warrior protecting kid. Many brutal adversaries try to catch them and kill them. There are intense battle scenes. Set in similar period of japanese history. There will be similar emotional vibes from those shows.

Firstly, I'd imagine both Kingdom and Sword of the stranger could have had a similar premise if Sword of the stranger was not set in the Sengoku period of Japan (1603) and Kingdom occuring in the Warring States period of China (475 BC) which just over 1,500 years. Both anime include the Chinese and in a certain degree, as an enemy but in Kingdom is set in China which would make sense; Sword of the stranger is set in Japan however, it relies on the Chinese as an antagonizing force that patronizes the citizens in the region over a specific child sacrifice needed for an  read more

Both movies revolve around similar themes, though I wouldn't recommend Stranger: Mukou Hadan enjoyers to watch Bright: Samurai Soul. The former, at least in my opinion, offers a more comprehensive story, better animation and more natural pacing.

Both Stranger and Kamuy follow a typical escort-mission scenario, wherein the warrior (Nanashi, a ronin and Sugimoto, an ex-soldier) work with an orphan (Kotarou and Asirpa) to traverse historical Japan (Sengoku Era and Meiji Era) on a journey, all the while evading corrupt villains (the Chinese militia and the Hokkaido 7th Division). Other similar aspects include gritty, realistic violence and gore, such as dismemberment and torture.

These two anime are similar in that both feature much gore, they are set in a similar time period (but different places) and both make you emotionally attached to the characters. I enjoyed both of them greatly but Berserk is better than Stranger in almost every way.

Both Sword of the stranger and Blade of the immortal (2019) are similar for sword fighting anime. In two series, there is a lot of blood , you fight exciting and an interesting history

They both have little boys that are special in one way or another. They both have a guy protecting them and watching over them. They also do get separated from the guy that protects them. They both have that sword play and is very sad. This anime is really similar to stranger " but also very different.

Action oriented movies with a lot of sword fights. Both of the main characters from those movies are tortured lone wolf with an obscur past, and they both feel guilty for something that happened in their pasts. Also they love kid and they both have a particular relation with an orphan. And both movies are freakin' stereotypical, boring, substanceless and irritating.

Both a very well made animations with a large amount of time spent on details for action scenes

Well then I must say that both anime's have similar historical story and connecting Japan with foreign peoples, and beside this they are full of action and also have a lot of blood, gore, tragedy and sword fights. But the main difference is that Dagger of Kamui is an oldschool anime while Sword of the Stranger is not.

Both have similar story;and are full of action.

They both deal with the protagonist having to protect innocent children. Mukoh Hadan is a bit more tragic in compare to Kurenai.

Do you love the high intensity, adrenaline fueled weapon fights with amazing animation? Both of these series are for you. Despite the huge setback in a forgettable story, both these anime works put action as their main target on their hit list.

They are similar in the fight of swords, in the characters. In the two series there is great blood, you fight exciting and an interesting history.

When I was watching Hinotori, I was reminded of Stranger. The first and fourth part of Hinotori had similiar resemblance of Stranger. The relationship between a boy and a man. Also the fight scenes too. The art and atmosphere of both shows were similar.

Intense frame jaw-ripping action has never looked so good on both animes. Although different in terms of story, both animes display a unique sense of action only BONES knows.

Same time period and interesting mysterious main character. i would think sword of the stranger is by far the superior of the two but that's my opinion. Anyway Enjoy

Both have simplistic fighting scenes, which really do show that you do not need over the top super powers or special effects to make a good anime. The more basic animation doesn't make it less enjoyable to watch but retains fluidity when the action starts.

awesome fighting scenes and same anime style

Both are historical type anime that have a focus on samurai. There's a great deal of fighting/action in each. Both have sadistic characters that lead the plot for their own personal gain.

If you are big into sword fighting anime, this is another great addition for you to watch and trust me it is as good as Claymore. Sword Of The Stranger and Claymore both have a main character whose past is tragic only to end up with a sidekick who is a young boy and has a major role later on. They're both set in a setting (Sword Of The Stranger-Feudal and Claymore-Medieval) with fantasy elements. Both have great sword fights, gore, dialogue, development, and good story.
