I dropped Eccentric Family because it didn't really capture my interests much. I've been working a lot recently (and writing about film) and I have to find a way to manage my time well. Generally, I try to focus my attention on projects that capture my attention or, if they don't, at least prompt me to talk about something interesting my review of them (which means I have to finish them, usually). If they don't appeal much to me I just drop them (or put them on hold for later) and try to bring my attention to something new. My issue with the show itself is that while the animation is great, the design wasn't very appealing to me and ultimately the story really struggled to get going (four episodes in).
Look out for my Place Beyond the Universe review. I'll try get it up by tuesday when the show concludes.
The biggest reason I spin the wheel (I call it the "Weeb Wheel") is because I have to pretty much try and watch every kind of genre offered in this medium and not just drift towards the content that is most interesting to me based solely on expectation and preconceived notions. After all, I have these shows on my "to watch" list for a reason. If I were to watch all my "hyped about" programs then getting through the shows I don't really give a shit about would become tedious quickly, I rather keep it up to fate to decide.
Two reasons. Firstly, I think it's important to see what every genre has to offer. I do believe that there are differences that can make or break certain series. Even if I haven't seen them yet.
Two, the way I pick my series to watch is totally random. I have a big wheel I spin via the internet with all my series on there and I watch whatever it lands on.
I sorta just realized projecting expectations of realism on a shounen drama anime is silly and although I'm still not a fan of how overly simplistic it is, it doesn't grate me like it did before. I will say though that something needs to change or happen other than "Karasuno wins regionals, they're on to nationals for season 3" to stay at a 9/10, I'm considering dropping it to an 8, the show is stagnating a bit.
Yeah I've posted a bit in MAL score progressions club. I enjoy the charts at the end of the season that people post on Reddit so I like discussing the changes and the meta picture. You should check out my Mid-Season Winter 2016 Survey on Reddit, I also have a link in my Bio. I think that data will be interesting.
I really don't know much about MAL. I've used the site for awhile but I've actually just recently started using the social features. My profile might seem busy but all those people are from January. I think MAL will be implementing some more social features like hummingbird and also just because I think they want to develop a community. I'm excited for that.
So what I meant to say is that I don't really know any other cool clubs. I'm not really that intuned with the site. But, the other club I joined is MAL featured articles. I haven't read there stuff recently but I think they have good content. And you can read and discuss stuff with those people since I think they'd be into it. It's fairly new but you could be the one to spark the discussion.
The name is quite funny because there's also something called Featured Articles on MAL and that is just filled with Buzzfeed writers.
