It had it good atmospheric horror and shock scenes, but it was still overburdened by all the slow "action" scenes.
hi ;3
I think it's fine that you review based on almost entirely personal enjoyment, but it'd help if you'd address that at the very beginning. Otherwise, you look just extremely biased and people will give you flack for that for sure since you're supposedly writing a review to help other people give an assessment of the show in the case they'd like to watch it. If you make note of the fact that you're heavily biased and for the most part uncritical of the show's major flaws and elements, then they'll read your review for a different reason and you won't end up attracting some other people (like myself) who are looking for a strong and as objective-as-possible- review. Basically, it'll save you a lot of explaining to others like you are doing with me.
That's all I have to say besides a couple points you might address in the future once you do a serious analysis. 1) Grimgar lacking a strong/fast pace isn't inherently bad. Character and dialogue-heavy shows like Grimgar seem to actually benefit from a more relaxed pace. 2) Manato was more of a supporting character than anything that didn't really need to be developed in full. The author seems to have purposefully killed him off for a primary reason: to make the characters feel a sense of regret for not getting to know him or trying to before he died. If he had died fully-developed, his death would've given off an entirely different feeling. This other feeling may not necessarily be a bad one to evoke, but clearly the author had a vision, and that vision was to express guilt and regret in the cast for not trying to understand their biggest support pillar and taking him for granted. TL;DR: There's never one good type of pacing/development/etc. for any genre.
I tend to disagree that the monogatari series is illogical, except Nadeko. She has the emptiest personality, and people would only like her because she's really cute. But you probably have or met some really hot girls in real life, but you can't stand them because of their personality. Nadeko is exactly like that. That arc was okay but I liked the others arcs (tsubasa tiger or Hachikuji Mayoi arc) more. Oh I actually enjoyed the toothbrush scene. I'm a guy who just ignores the things that could make me feel uneasy. Uneasy as in something that is kinda disturbing not something that is awkward and doesn't allow you to do something currently in real life. In fact, I just try to go into the mind of someone who would enjoy it, and try to enjoy it, it almost always works. Anything that happens on a screen cannot make me feel uneasy at all (unless it's loud sounds, which isn't on a screen).
As for the ops of all monogatari series, I find them kinda relaxing. There are no ops that I actually remember, since they aren't very energetic, but they had some peaceful symbols of the current arc. Also, what is your favorite female character from monogatari series? Oh, and the reason for owarimonogatar is exactly why you should join some anime communities and be informed of what is going on this season, and also acquire some backlog when you have free time.
Actually, I didn't like mikado simply because of his relation with Anri. It is the most bland relationship any anime can have. When they're mutually interacting, I just pray for the scene to end quickly. I can't stand that kind of a cliche relationship at all. In Drrr first season he had some interesting moments but also a few of them which I didn't enjoy. Alright, I'll probably give a shot for both shinsekai yori and Drrr sequels
One more thing about me, If you see me not commenting on something that you've written, it is simply because I totally agree and have nothing to add to that opinion.
I'm really grateful that you've put a profile picture. And that is Mikado, so I've checked and it looks like you've completed sequels to Drrr, and I would like to hear your opinions on it. Though I guess that they aren't better than the first series. Also it's really nice that you rate different shows of an anime separately, for example the fate/stay night UBW series, in which you rated the prologue highest, which is superior than the rest of the show. Oh, and why have you finished Owarimonogatari before the monogatari second season :o
The first movie has less minutes in it than the first 8 episodes so they've cut some things. Because it is like 8 episodes, there are no cliffhangers and no time to think about them, so the movie wasn't as good as the first 8 episodes. But the second movie has dynamic scene switching, so it was a huge successes.
Also how did you like Nisemonogatari?
And it would be nice if you could add an avatar to your MAL profile, that way it doesn't feel like you're a robot lol.
Hope it won't throw though
