True Tears

Similar art with both dealing with the relationship of more than one person. While in True Tears it is mostly focused on one male main character and his relationships and putting the other a bit in the background, are in kimikiss two male leads. 

Ef and True Tears are a perfect match to the point that they could almost be mistaken for the same franchise. Both are Highschool romance anime that avoid many of clichés of the genre to focus on love triangles, keeping the emotional development of the characters as their primary goal. In visual terms they present very solid animation values with gorgeous background art that shines mostly in the sky scenes. Fanservice free, these are titles that handle their potentially jaded subject matter with maturity and in a serious, thoughtful and highly emotional way. Fans of one are encouraged to check out the other.  

It's a story of romance and teenage angst. Both have shown to be more realistic than having standard archetypes for both protagonist and heroines. Both also deliver a very compelling story with strong music. In differences, True Tears looks more stronger in terms of animation and coloring, but White Album 2 seems to have the stronger soundtrack. However, it is based around music at first, so having weak music would've been a huge negative. If one wants compelling, yet dramatic love stories, these are definitely good together.  

Both slice of life, bit dramatic. Also they started airing around the same time =) 

Realism is one of the many themes you will see in both of these series. But beyond that, both anime(s) focuses on the characters on what they try to become as the episodes progresses. Then of course, there is drama, comedy (less so in later episodes), emotional scenes, and romance mixed with various misunderstandings. Ultimately both series reflects the more emotional and sadder side of a romance story.

True Tears and Nagi no Asukara both take place in a setting that gives off a similar vibe. They consist a small cast of characters in a local setting where drama, comedy, and romance develop over time. The main female protagonist from both series is a bit odd although although their personalities contrast with another from its perspective series. There is a love triangle that is built up and present. P.A. Works is involved in both series for its production. The quality of the production also shares a similar feeling.  

Both are pretty focused on Romance, Drama and School. Clannad has supernatural elements while True Tears doesn't. Both have a lot of girls are one guy as the focus to the story. Might even go as far as saying "True Tears" could be a "If Clannad had no supernatural theme to it, it would be..." Both male protagonists are delinquents, or at least labelled as one and end up attempting to help girls with their problems, both with interesting results. Both are PG-13 

-Both animes focuses very deeply into the story that involves love triangles and one-sided love as well as problems surrounding it. -School Life 

It keeps you involved and it makes you feel for the characters. 

If you like romance animes that stay away from the harem style and show you nice character development along with a constant plot with 0 fillers, this is your show. 

It has the same feel. It's made by the same creator, Lantis. And it goes by certain themes. Sola is based on the sky, while True Tears is based on...you guessed it... 

Both have characters with tragic circumstances with a dramatic/realistic plot (kimi ga is more intense ) and both series look at love from a destructive side and how one can hurt the other when falling in love-kimi ga is focused on one guy and his relationship with two tragic females and true tears is focused on three males and three females with lots of jealousy ,desperate love ,so if u liked true tears u might like kimi ga nozomu eien as well ......  

With a similar animation, both deals with issues of the friendships and romances of high school kids, and a main female character that likes chickens. Same director too, but with very different execution in terms of story--for better or for worse. That might also explain the explicit display of chickens, bordering on obsession.  

Both are about a boy in a very similar love triangle, and both give you a "lesson" feeling.  

Tari Tari and True Tears has similar ambience 

I was sobbing like a baby from both of these, finest romance drama in the game... Both contain love love triangles, & intense intimidating drama regarding it. Our main protagonists are a little dense in both, causing drama to get out of hand. 

Both evole around one guy and two or more girls, and about their love for the main character.. both are tear jerkers occasionsly in the series.. 

An eccentric girl with an interest to the main character that seems to be hung-up with a childhood/highschool friend. Same melancholic mood and dynamics 

The main aspect that ties these two together is the feeling for loving someone else. They both follow a boy with sad stories and romantic ones all around. Both moods are drama, romance mixed in with some comedy and are set in High school life. 

Both shows explore the wrongs and harms of denying your feelings for the sake of other people's well-being, as well as forcing romantic relationships. Also, both anime raise the question of the difference between romantic and simple spiritual attraction to someone important to you. 

Similar protagonist and character relations, but True Tears more focused on dramatic elements. Denpa onna is more oriented for relaxation 

Both shows feature a young girl who had a "curse" put on her. A weird girl non the less, who can't express herself just right. Also similarities in the romantic developments. Love triangle with a tricky, touching outcome. Stories of friendship, love, struggles, maturing and liberation! With beautiful music of course :) If you liked this movie, I strongly recommend True Tears as a similar yet different story, told in 13 episodes. 

Both have a serious tone , both are about students the main character also likes drawing, and wants to go to a school that his mom don't accepte just like the main characters of Tsuki ga kirei , Both have love triangle eventhough true tears is kind of a harem anime, Both girl characters don't talk much , and they both love a sport that they are good at. In the end you could say True Tears is a Tsuki ga kirei version for highschool 

The path to find yourslef is always a lot nearer than you have imagined. To seek for the person you love, and yet, not torealise that this person is right beside you. That is the main story line in both Yotsunoha and True Tears in which the lead male characters want to prove themselves. They often can't express their thought clearly, causing confusion and sometimes arguments between the female characters. But in the end everything is set and the boys find their happiness. 

They both have Drama and Romance in there and both are really fun Anime's to watch with True Tears you have alot of Drama that you don't expect and the same happens in Clannad After Story both are very good Anime's 

I don't know how no one noticed the similarities between the two series. Both focus around a love triangle between main character, sister figure and third wheel girl. And in addition there is an additional girl who the protagonist won't even acknowledge. Well, the only difference here is that, in True Tears, the siblings are not actually related by blood (despite certain implications that it might be the case).  

Although the storylines are different, these two anime have the same kind of atmosphere to them, and both are very innocent romances. Ano Hana is more "intense", while True Tears is on the softer side. 

Both start out with wholesome characters slowly starting to know and fall in love with each other, against all the odds. Then one becomes an actually decent story of a love triangle while the other one devolves into a threesome, wait no, foursome. Wait. Fiv- UHH I lost count! Props if you can tell which is which. 

Romance anime that has similar tones. A lot is expressed in these anime outside the dialog. Both series also have characters that are difficult to read at first glance.  

*SPOILER CONNECTIONS* Both shows share a relatively similar love triangle structure, in which the MC initially dates one of the girls, that is openly in love with him until he starts to realize his true feelings for the other girl, which prompts him to break up with his girlfriend and get together with the other  

The book in BRS about the little bird and the colors reminded me a lot on the picture book "Raigomaru to Jibeta no Monogatari" in True Tears. Both animes make you think about the people in your environment and how you treat them. You start to care slightly more about them and want to treat them better. 

They both have characters that love their little sisters too much 

True Tears shares a lot of different feelings and thoughts within it's action. If you liked the nice character development and the plot itself from this anime , I am sure you will enjoy the other just as much or maybe even more. However, it is a high risk of crying, so if you decide to watch True Tears and then Sukitte Ii na yo, prepare your tissues if you are a sentimental person. 

Though Noe and Rikka share different roles in their respective stories, they are definitely characters that really drag you into the story. Extra: Both live in their own worlds, and are also intrigued by the male leads.  

Same director, similar style. Although True Tears is obviously more fleshed out, True Tours has a similar feeling and atmosphere. Interesting artwork and same use of artistic stills. Two romances with subtlety and unique aesthetic.  

For those who enjoyed true tears for the style of character development, Zettai Shounen may be the next logical series to watch. Both series employ a wholly action-based rather than exposition-based character development strategy: to understand what motivates a character, one has to look at their actions. true tears has a much more conventionally compelling plot, what with the love pentagon situation, but for those who get into the atmosphere and characters of Zettai Shounen, it can be just as compelling. 

Good stuff about what girl should boring dude choose, in Amagami they even go that far and said how about u choose every girl. 

Both series contains that slice-of-life theme and daily school life. True Tears has more romance themes but Tamayura: Hitotose is still enjoyable. Both OP songs also has a touch of light tone and the art of both series is appreciable.  

In both animes you have two girls in love with the same boy, and both of them are really splendid! Perhaps one of them a more normal and sweeter girl, and the other one much more energetic and crazy, but both splendid! You would wish that both of them could get the boy they love, and in the end it is a bit difficult to choose which of them is your personal favorite. 

They both share some similiar qualities in characters and plot development , and both are good for the 'romance / slice of life / comedy- drama' group 

The protagonist Shin reminds me of Kyon's personality, especially the part when he is having conversation with his own head. Noe's personality reminds me of Haruhi + Yuki. 

Though I wouldn't say Onegai Teacher is as deep as True Tears, if you liked True Tears, then you should at least take a look at Onegai Teacher. 

Both series belong to a small group of harem anime that are actually good. The drama and characters (all of them in True Tears, and a sufficient number in Shuffle) feel genuine and engaging. While I have low expectations of harem series by default, these two proved to be exceptions to the rule. 

Both have a protagonist who desperately tries to write a book and the event of his/her life are what gives them inspiration. While In WOTH the story of the book is about a Cat, in True tears is about a Chicken and the stories have deep impact on their lives.  

Both have a gentle feeling and involve a main character who has 2 girls trying to date him and indulges himself in art. the drawing/paintings the main guy does reflects whats happening in the anime and add to the mood at hand. the overall story lines seem to fit in perfectly with each other. 

Both series are romance-drama hybrids that contain very defined, realistic characters. The male leads go through a vaguely similar struggle that deals more with themselves than with others, and both use stories as symbolism (although Hanbun uses a real book instead of a fictional story written by the lead). 

Same music sang by the band Eufonius for both Animes. And its also a Harem anime. 

Darker love stories with bits of humor mixed in. 

both are P.A Works with very similar animation like the autumn feel of both, a feature for True Tears was even shown in Hanairo, both have similar stories and character design  

I think both had a similar feeling too it, as well as a good art.  

Both of these animes contain the main theme of romance and a love triangle involvement. They even use chickens! 

Both setting and personality is similar, they both have some humor and some dark tone. They also have similar artwork, and very sad moments. Oh, both opening song/music are very alike as well. 

The way True Tears makes you feel after one episode will make you fall in love with 5 centimeters per second, this short movie (or 3 ovas) just grips you tight and doesnt let go until you let out a tear. It deals with relationship issues over distance and close and personall. Its a deffinetly must see anime! How ever if you have seen 5 centimeters, true tears is an anime for you! Its short sweet and simple with a great story line you can easially fall in love with. Once either one of the shows is over your gonna want to beg for more from these amazing story writers read more 

It's a bit of a stretch, but nevertheless, there is an uncanny similarity between the characters of Hinazuki Kayo (BokuMachi/Erased) and Isurugi Noe (True Tears). Both anime are emotionally intense, and share that certain / get it right / feeling. True tears is more of a Romance, but Erased has it too, in a way. Great stories. Relatable characters. Feels. What else do you need, srsly? )  

I feel Koi Kaze is extremely underrated on the site, largely due to the widespread ignorance over the depth of the themes covered in this anime. While Koi Kaze is undoubtedly better in every aspect, for those looking for a lighter, less honest anime involving forbidden romance may want to turn to True Tears. While I wouldn't normally recommend True Tears, it is an entertaining preemptive before watching more mature anime. 

Both are romantic harems with a colorful cast of characters. The stories in each are both compelling and rich. If you've liked one, you'll definitely take a liking to the other.
