Hajime no Ippo and Kenichi are very similar, mostly by looking at the main characters. Makunouchi is a weakling, Kenichi is a weakling. However, they both train hard and become stronger in order to achieve their goals. Makounouchi wants to know what it means to be "strong", and Kenichi wants to become stronger to protect his friends from harm.

Both series seem to have a similar type of the main character: a good-natured boy who used to be a loser and then, through difficult training, he starts getting stronger and gets new friends on the way. In both animes the main character and his friends go through series of battles, increasingly more difficult, and their defeated rivals later become their allies and come to help.

Same type of story. Main character is a weakling that joins a school that has fighting clubs and gangs that like to test out the new freshmen to see how strong they are. Main character gets picked on and joins a dojo to get stronger. He ends up getting hunted down by the local gang and has to protect him self. Full of comedy just like Tenjou Tenge.

Same type of "leveling-up" occurs for the characters. Kenichi and Naruto are definitely similar in that there's martial arts, and both main characters start off basically sucking. Kenichi is much shorter though, so you'll be able to enjoy a feature filled show without all the fillers.

Similar comedy action. Both focus on nakama and friendship. Kenichi has more fan service though.

Both anime are centered on the same type of main character. They both follow the rise of completely unassuming characters from being cowardly and non athletic, to strong leads. Both are very good at showing the mental trials that one goes through while they develop while keeping it light and humorous. It would be very easy to say that if you liked one of these two, you will definitely like the other.

Both have a Main Character who is pretty much clueless about what they get themselves into, and both Main Characters start out weak but slowly become more powerful with each new challenge they face. Each series has a large cast of lovable and not so lovable characters that are the true driving force of each story. Although both are Shounen animes, Air Gear contains more mature content(Nudity,Language,Blood etc.) then Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi does, However, this does not take away from the fact that both series always find a way to keep things intresting and exciting. I recommend both series to any fan of  read more

Although the two series do not have the same theme, the type of humour are very very similar (nearly identical). On top of that, the facial expressions Kenichi makes are very reminiscent of Nagasumi's. Also, Seto San does have many common point with Miu, as both have very strange mood swings and personalities. Kenichi's masters are very similar to the Seto family too.

The draw for both isn't just the fighting, but the humor. Said humor can take some getting used to, yet both series employ the type of humor well.

Kenichi is like Yu Yu Hakusho, but replaces demons with street fighters. They're both worth watching.

These are both Martial Arts anime, where Kenichi just wishes to get strong enough to protect the people he loves, and Baki wants to defeat his dad and become the strongest being on earth. However, they are very similar in the concept of following the main character win fights and get stronger as the series progresses. The art and character design of these series are quite different though, and may take some getting used to, but they're both very much worth it. Also Baki has more blood and just overall violence where Kenichi focusses more on the Martial Arts itself. Baki the Grappler also has  read more

The raw fighting style and pure all-out battle have a very similar feel. Even the character designs and animation seem similar to each other. Both are excellent fighting animes with a touch of comedy.

Both MC's are weak in the beginning, but become stronger and stronger later in anime with a little help from their friends. Both have comedy, lots of action and fighting. Both MC's care about friends and are heroic - willing to do all it takes to help them, even if they have to risk their own lives. Great soundtracks

Those animes shows that training is the way of pain. Just by watching those series you can feel, that even you can do something to be better one. In both series main hero gains friends after fighting them before as enemies.
report Recommended by Fixil
Both characters start off not knowing a thing about the sport, in Ei-chan's case or the martial arts in Kenichi's, and then become increasingly more able at it. They both fall for a person who is also doing what they come to enjoy.

Week Kid want's to protect those around him. Ends up getting in tons of Epic Battles and becomes the Hero. They do differ in substantial ways but in the End you get the same enjoyment. Sound to Simple? Well I gave up trying to explain the Awesomeness of these Shows. Just go watch Both of them. You WILL NOT be Disappointed!

Both shows are just plain-old funny, and use a lot of slapstick humor in a school setting.

Somehow both the martial arts and humour makes me connect these two animes together. I think anyone who liked one of these would like the other.

both MCs Goku and Kenichi generally have a similar hairstyle both fight with a sense of justice both have co-stars that via funimation are voiced by chris sabat and kent williams training before each battle and gradually getting stronger each time there's a perverted master in both shows

Both involves serious martial arts mixed with lighthearted comedy. While Asu no Yoichi is more harem oriented, Kenichi is much more martial art oriented.
report Recommended by wakka9ca
In both shounen series, martial arts is a major theme that plays a dominant role in nearly episode. The main protagonist gets involved with oth er characters in the fields of martial arts. In both series, the main heroine is strong and relies on her martial arts skills to get by. Both series also contain comedy presented in humorous ways that also contain bits of drama later on as the episodes progresses.
report Recommended by Stark700
Both are about fighting, glory, and pride the main character, started of weak, then progressed to be stronger and stronger. the shows arent perverted but they do have some situations... the mains also had a situation where they could choose the easy way or the noble way and obvious chose noble, like most fighting shows

I don't think Beelzebub is worth watching if you liked Kenichi but if you liked Beelzebub you will definitely like Kenichi. They are very similar: humor, school, gangs, fights, training etc. No exploding clothes, ecchi or anything unnecessary like in some other animes that have similar settings.

While our main characters don't look all that similar other than the black hair, but I feel their circumstance is and that they both start off as weak. basically 'zero to hero' story progression both mcs: have someone teaching them (even if one of them is an online sensei) wish to become stronger are learning how to fight/defend start off bullied by others battle difficulty with opponents increases

both of these show are extremely funny but in "Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi" there is more action and it also has a great story.

Both anime are about boxing (though in Kenichi it´s martial arts in general). Both main characters are nice and naive guys who start to train with the objective of learning what is to be “strong.” Both anime have some comedy in them. Ippo and Kenichi always get to fight stronger opponents, and they have to keep training desperately so they can win. And both training regimes are very extreme.

though different themes as one focuses on Martial Arts while the other focuses on Mecha, Aliens and Wars, i've found similarities like easter eggs if ya notice...like Kenichi, Renton is a little shrimp of an MC who is invited by a very attractive female (Miu/Eureka) to join her group and like Kenichi he ends up living in some wacky domain (Ryuzanpaku dojo in the Kenichi series/Gekkostate aircraft in E7) surrounded by a group of wacky characters who are kinda sour to him and take time to receive him well but still nevertheless give off a goofy vibe...the girl  read more

they are both based on martial arts and are both hilarious! kenichi is basically a whole story about a highschool boy who likes martial arts and tries to enter the highschool karate club but get beaten to a pulp. he then meets this strange girl whose grandfather runs a dojo with all these insanely strong martial artists who are experts in different forms of martial arts.... and his training begins.... this show had me sitting on the edge of my seat during the fights and laughing my ass off during the rest of the show. if you liked one you actually might enjoy the other.  read more

While Kenichi doesn't have the supernatural aspect of a genie type character granting the main character strength, Bucchigiri and Kenichi are very similar in other ways. Both protagonists start of as ordinary characters who are seen as weaklings by others. Both at some point get beat up by tougher characters and want to better themselves. Once they gained a measure of strength and showed it off by beating a tough opponent, they eventually become the target of youthful delinquents who crave battle. These delinquents either want to recruit or crush them. Both series have an array of oddball antagonists.

the co stars in both kenichi and vampire hunter d are teenage girls with long blonde hair and blue eyes and both have obvious feelings for each respective main character main character of whom they bond very well with , .... so if you like anime grls with blonde hair and blue eyes these are anime to consider

the heroines of both anime miu and usagi are both teenage girls with long blonde hair and blue eyes also they're both action anime targeted at teenage audiences and both series are loaded with comedic moments. and both miu and usagi are female fighters usagi a magical superhero and miu a physical martial arts street fighting difference is miu is side hero and usagi is main hero. kenichi is shonen and sailor moon is shojo.

Both involve people fighting Not really much romance in either (hardly any) Both protagonists have a main goal Both are really great shows Fight scenes are tacky but unbelievable at the same time Both are original shows that no one can match

This is my first recommendation, also english is not my mother tounge, please forgive me for possible shortcomings. I am sure that everybody agrees with me that one of the most important elements of "Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi" is the protagonists dubbing voice, if you do not agree yet then you will find out as soon as you watch "Nodame Cantabile". Tomokazu Seki does a great job in entertaning the audience and defining the special flavour that makes both "SSDK" and "Nodame Cantabile" a pleasure to watch. Also in both anime the protagonist engages in a discipleship under a master with a rather sophisticated personality.  read more

both MC have badass characters. They both are fighting for the ones they love and also to get stronger. In both anime, many new badass antagonists proceed too. And most importantly, both are related densely to martial arts.

Well i have to say that both bleach and kenichi start off with a boy going from weak to strong, and it has a lot of fiction in it like bleach. It's a kick ass anime too. Both stories of bleach and kenichi start off kind of similar. So I would recommend this to anyone who likes bleach.
report Recommended by -FAWKYOURFACE-
Relates to the same fighting, comedy and fanservice genres. I do believe its better done than the Ikkitousen series, but thats a personal opinion. Kenichi also has a better storyline to it.
report Recommended by Moodkiller
The comedy in both of these is just absolutely crazy, so if you like the slapstick in one, you'll like the other.
report Recommended by robfoster
The main character of Nobunagun is like a female version of the main male character of the other series. Both characters are seen at first as talentless compared to the eccentric masters, but they end up learning over the progression of the plot so that they can protect what they care for. Their fighting styles are also “different” and they aren't the norm, so people don't expect them to do the amazing things they do. The plot is also action packed.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both involve the fighting and becoming of the main character as a central element, and also good character development, although Kenichi is slower and longer and more drawn out, if you like this kind of anime, then Kenichi will surely please you.
report Recommended by SuperManW3
Both are about young guys striving to get strong enough to protect the ones they love. Kenichi is a little less well animated but on the plus side has a lot more romance, awesome martial arts teachers and comedy. So if you like training, martial arts and epic fights you may just cream your pants.

both weaklings main characters that because a girl they want to be strong and face many dangers to make it they both are misunderstanded in school one reads books the other makes cakes

Both feature realistic martial arts/swordplay for the fight scenes and both also use alot of comedy to lighten the mood. The only difference is that Gintama is more comedic while Kenichi focuses more on the fighting aspect.

Martial arts, both animes a must to watch for anyone that likes martial arts, or a hand to hand fighting style.

Hero tales seems to be pretty unique in its portrayal of martial arts so the closest i could find was kenichi. the only differences would be the ecchi side and the fact that kenichi has no actual fantasy side to it.

A lot of people may think why would I relate these two anime, but they both do have a lot in common. If you're looking for a great comedy, epic fights and simply an entertaining time where you'll always be wanting for the next episode, if you've seen one of these, the other is a must definite. Both shows pack in so many hilarious moments in between their emotional and epic plotlines.

A wimpy guy gets his arse handed to him by the new girl (in Nozomi, the heroine moves in next door, as well as starting at the same school) and he promptly falls in love/lust with her. Then, for love/boobs, the wimpy guy decides to train in order become strong and, sometime along the way, get together with the girl of his dreams. ^ That's the basic premise both series are built on. The two combine moments of comedy with fighting throughout and both are sure to be enjoyed immensely by someone who liked one of the two.

Both shows have hilarious comedy in between action. Both shows feature a bit of a romance. The only thing FMP has more of is Drama. Kenichi has more comedy and ecchi moments than FMP. Also the male VA for Sagara Souske does the voice of Shirahama Kenichi. Both shows are really lots of fun, so check them out!

"History's Strongest Disciple Kenich"i isn't with vampires, but the style of the story is the same. They're both in the same style of comedy, there is a boy who doesn't know anything about a topic but anyway has to lern fighting against enemies. The girl, who he loves, is very good at fighting and always helps him if he get attacked. Anyway, the parents don't know about that exactly and the boy has to stay in the doyo. It's a very funny story and ends up the same way.

The main character is training to be the best, so are the secondary characters in kenshin. What I loved about kenichi was the mixture of excitement and laughter, and I get the same from kenshin. (up to the end of the shishio fight.) Kenshin has some pretty epic back story, semi realistic feel to the fight styles, and is (in my opinon) one of the best anime someone could watch (again till the end of the one arc) the movies are (kinda) great, the ova of kenshins back story is great and if it's your cup of tea, there's 3 live action movies recently done.  read more

Both Kenichi and Loki Ragnarok have Norse mythology and a girl that although is always trying to help( and most of the time they do help) but can kind of act ditzy. Though they both have fighting, Kenichi has more actual fighting while Loki ragnarok has fantasy. both are still prety good

Features a very similar main lead who goes through some hardships, but is eventually picked up by a quirky band of misfits and trained to unlock his potential. Kenichi is a more lighthearted series, but stress the desire to get stronger to protect the ones you love

Great slapstick and joke driven comedies that involve fighting and high school, and both of them like to go into super-deformed mode to convey added hilarity.

Martial artists testing and developing their skills in street fights. Both series also deal with the virtuous and the destructive ways of martial arts. And, like Street Fighter, Kenichi also has a fighting game developed by Capcom.
