Both about Tennis!!
reportRecommended by Jollyranchy
Both are sport manga where main character looks kind of weak, but he has special qualities that make him very good. Loads of action going on during matches. Good art in both of them. Kuroko is about basketball and Baby Steps is about tennis. Kuroko is more action-packed while Baby Step has more romance.
reportRecommended by Lylaaz
Both are about racquet sports, competition, and personal development.

Both series feature protagonists who discovers their passion for a sport; boxing in Hajime no Ippo and tennis in Baby Steps. Both highlight a journey of hard work, failure, success and laughs as the titles of the two series allude.

Although Baby Steps is about sports and Beck about music, the main characters are very similar in looks and personality : They both lack ''something in their life'', they are hardworkers and try to give their best once they find what they like. Both manga have romance.

Despite following a different sport, Diamond no Ace and Baby Steps follows a main character who strives to improve and become a worthy player in the sports world. They are also portrayed as hardworking individuals whose results show the fruits for their efforts. Throughout both series, they face powerful rivals that tests the limits of their abilities. They also build relationships with other players that brings the best of their character to life. Highly recommended for fans interested in a manga that focuses on sports and character growth.

- Both series manage to tell about the competitive sports in a realistic way. - Main characters have talent but they have to work hard in order to get better - One of the rare cases in sports series where potential love interest has impact on the story If you like Aoashi or Baby Steps for these reasons there's a high chance you could check out both.

Baby Steps and Eyeshield 21 not only target the same demographic, but do so quite similarly. Both series revolve around a character with a latent potential to succeed in a sport. Although both characters do not readily involve themselves with their sports, they do grow fond of developing themselves and competing with others.

Both these shounen titles follow protagonists who transition from focusing on school work to focusing on sport.

If you are looking for shounen romance with a tennis backdrop, then check these two publications out. Although one is more implanted in sport and the other in drama, they both showcase the sport of tennis.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both of them have talented hero that still not polished. Both of their hero are starting their journey because one girl. Both of them have interesting competition story.
reportRecommended by suhafer
Both deal with someone new starting tennis. Each has their strengths, in Baby Steps its his eyes and his attention to detail in Shanimuni GO its his endurance and raw talent. While the characters are almost opposite they both love tennis and there is also a female love interest who also loves tennis.

both manga have to do with an mc who doesn't have anything super interesting to them, and are kind of plain, but then are taken away by a beautiful girl who is perfect at her craft, wishing to become a pro. and because of said girls, the mc's are inspired and get into the craft themselves, also becoming aspiring pros. both mc's are natural and have lots of raw potential, but need to hone it, and that is what makes both manga so good!

Between Ao no Hako and Baby Steps, there is a very clear overlap in genres. They're both romantic sports anime. Not only that, but there is an emphasis on racket sports in both. I'd say Baby Steps is 80/20 in terms of sports/romance, while Blue Box is roughly 30/70 in terms of sports/romance. So say you read Baby Steps and wished there was more of an emphasis on the romance instead of the tennis, I really think you'll enjoy Blue Box.

Both are realistic journeys of someone who has an ambitious and hard goal they strive to reach. Both protagonists constantly get shot down but refuse to give up! Baby Steps tends to be more optimistic whereas Bambino can get heavy and gloomy.

Both involve a seemingly weak main character that loves to work hard and practice for there sport. Both Main characters have a awesome hidden talent that separates them from all the other players. Both manga's have very good stories that show the progress and development of each leading character, not to mention the amazing art work and the show of detail through out each page.

Sport manga where you can actually learn things, instead of just watching people duels and seeing the MC wins - zero to hero flow - contains some real knowledge

Okay. One is about MMA and one is about tennis, but both manga's depict the technical aspects of the sport nicely, and realistically. Both the main characters don't have overwhelming physical or technical abilities, but steadily get better and tend to win by analyzing the opponent and hitting their weak points. Meguru is a bit darker though, especially with character backstories, as it's a seinen instead of shonen like Baby Steps.

Well, both main character have talent in badminton/ tennis, yet unknown about it. In BG and BS, there's a very strong person in their group, and coach that notice their(the main character's) talent. There're also hints of romance in both series. Read it and you'll find more similarities among them ^_6

They might not be the same type of sport but both Baby Steps and Cross Manage have some similar concepts. Both series has a main male protagonist where after one faithful day, they get involved with a club of people. They are passionate about a sport and play competitively to earn a name for themselves. As the series progresses, the main protagonist learns more about the game and its importance. There is also similarity between the main female protagonist with their personality and energy. But despite this, they can also be tough when it comes to competition. I recommend both series for anyone enthusiastic about  read more

Baby Steps and King Golf shares a different premise but has a familiar context with the way it develops their main protagonist. Essentially, the MC discovers an interest in a sport (tennis for Baby Tennis and golf for King Golf). Their interest takes them further as they enter professional competition. Throughout both series, we see how much their skills improves as they take on powerful rivals. Both series are also known for their realism and mechanics with strategies. Baby Steps is also known for its subtle romance that becomes evident later on in the story.

The male protagonist in these two serialisations are introduced to an activity that they begin to be passionate about. In Baby Steps, it is tennis; whereas in Nana Maru San Batsu, it is quiz bowls.

When I read Blue Period there were many points that reminded me of Baby Steps. The main character in both manga has no prior experience with their career(Tennis for Baby Steps and Art for Blue Period). Both manga give a very similar vibe and overall feeling. The support characters are unique in each and entangle themselves with the main character one way or another. Also, both manga depict a realistic version of their career paths (relative to anime/manga at least). There isn't any borderline superpowers like other manga (Prince of tennis for example). You get to witness the main character's improvement in their respective areas  read more

Both mangas focus on sports and romance. However, keep in mind that Suzuka is a romance manga with track and field on the side, while Baby Steps is more sports oriented with romance on the side. Both protagonists are a complete beginner in the sport but posses a special talent that separate them from the norm and allow them to shine. They both also deal with romance, drama, and slice of life. Although both heavily focus on one genre (romance or sports) over the other, they are a must read for any shounen lover.

Main similarity lies in sports. Both are mainly focusing Tennis and getting better with the chosen game.

Despite being two different sports, cycling and tennis, this series share some interesting similarities. Somehow, our main guy ends up relating himself with a girl who helps him to get to enter the cyclism /tennis world. The relationship development between main girl and guy it's as important as the sport itself. Noririn plays with older characters and has a more mature tone, while Baby Steps gives off a very relaxed environment, yet when it comes to matches, deals a lot with strategies and concentration. If you like interesting male characters, competitive environment and romance subplot, go and read this two titles.

Both depict sports in the greatest sense of realism. In both shows, the amount of effort that the main character puts in can be shown. Both main characters also follow their respective sport as a means to get with their love interests. The characters get rivals, lose a lot and want to become the best at their respective sports. Tour de France for one, National Japan Champion for the other.
