In both series the protagonists get a chance at changing certain events of their past. While one struggles to save certain people of his past, the other struggles to save himself.

These two mangas are very similar! Both have the same ambiance as well as similarities in the plot lines. Both deal with time travel and trying to save a loved on from death by using time travel or reaching the past. Both must make several changes in their past lives and try to figure out what caused the deaths and how to prevent them.
reportRecommended by Tanstafl
~Similarities~ -Both have a male protagonist that blame themselves for a 'certain' incident that occurred during their past. -Both incidents 'haunt' the protagonists in their present time. -There is a phenomenon/entity which grants them a second chance at changing the past. ~Differences~ - Hensokukei is more a Rom/Com type of manga. - 'Erased' is more a Mystery type manga.

-Both manga revolves around MC's who are losers in society one working at a DVD rental store with no aim in life and the other being a failed mangaka working part time as a pizza deliveryman -Both manga focuses on the MC going back to the past to save a girl from being murdered in the future -Erased is more of a mystery thriller while Tokyo revengers is more of a action shonen -Both feel very similar with the MC trying to change the future but both feel unique enough to not just be copies of each other

For different reasons, both main characters begin the story as socially inept characters. However, as their respective stories progress, with the help of other characters, the protagonists learn more about themselves and how to genuinely build relationships. To spur this growth further, both main characters must use their general wits and resources to attempt to beat a seemingly unstoppable enemy who wants to kill someone close to them. Due to the nature of each killer, both characters must prevent others generally from knowing about the dangers that lurk in the shadows, especially the main female love interests. Both stories also feature a female love interest for  read more

Besides some similarities, both stories portray how the characters grow and learn on their mistakes. There is also a strong emphasis on psychology and understanding child's behavior.

In both series, the main protagonist gets another opportunity to experiment his younger life again. Only this time, they can influence events of the past that greatly affects the future. Both series also has a good amount of relationship dynamics between the main characters. ReLife has much more humor while Boku dake ga Inai Machi presents more of a thriller-style of storytelling.

Both MCs are heroes and rescue people. Both MCs save a person from child abuse. This person develops a close relationship with the MCs. Dieter = Kayo in BokuMachi. Both MCs are framed for murder. Both MAs are highly intelligent and trick people's minds. Both get inspired from stories. (Monster Without A Name = Spider's Thread in BokuMachi). Both are mystery, psychological and seinen. Both are adapted into anime. While Monster primary takes place in Germany around 1986, BokuMachi primary takes place in Japan around 1988).

Either in Erased or Ship of Theseus, the protagonist inadvertently travels to the past and tries to stop a murderer before the crimes ever occur.
reportRecommended by fleurbleue
Both are thrillers were the MC time-leaps back to school days to save a childhood friend.
reportRecommended by NanoKoi
-Both the MC's have the ability to time travel -Both of their time travelling journeys center around a girl -Both of them have mystery elements and Shinu hodo Kimi no Shojo ga Hoshii has more mature themes and a better ending when compared to Erased

These series follow characters who start investigating crimes, murders, and kidnappings. Boku dake ga Inai Machi (Erased) is set in modern time Japan, while Gosick follows characters in an alternate, Victorian Europe. The series share complexities in enigmas the characters untangle, topped with comedy and romance.

Until Your Bones Rot is a great psychological thriller with many similar themes to Erased. Namely, both titles feature murder, kidnapping, conspiracy, and mystery, with the young protagonists having to deduce who and what is behind the gruesome happenings in their town. Until Your Bones Rot is a maturation of Erased's elementary school setting: featuring high schoolers, more graphic/disturbing imagery and sexual themes. Time is an important aspect in Erased — with the protagonist traveling back and forth in time to get information — whereas in Until Your Bones Rot, time plays its role more in the form of flashbacks/memories, and is itself important in  read more

These two manga utilize time travel and mystery with one simple concept - Both of the MC's need to protect their loved ones from imminent tragedies - with their newfound abilities. What started out as a simple rescue mission at first turns into a complicated case as they unraveled more and more vital clues along the way.
reportRecommended by Ace_39
Both manga carry a prominent theme of friendship and are stories about a time travelling protagonist trying to save their young female friend from domestic abuse, while also trying to stop an unknown villain that lurks in the shadows.

Kei Sanbe, two mysteries, the same traits, and of course, the same style. I recommend both. - Both works are mysteries with a high content of suspense, gradually revealed, filled with foreshadow and decorated with cliffhangers. Part of the style present in the author's mysteries, both follow a chain of events and characters in which plot details or small finds will matter later. - Both narratives start from a protagonist with a certain supernatural power or characteristic that is unique within the universe of the work. In Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Satoru has Revival, while in Yume de Mita Ano Ko no Tame ni, Senri and  read more

Although the story and characters are completely different, in both stories time travelling is the centre of the conflict and both protagonists have the objective of fighting against time to reach their final goal.

They have a similar art style & atmosphere. Both go through the protagonists' childhood and teen-young adult lives. Both are emotional and dramatic.
reportRecommended by Alzeana
Both revolve around time traveling in the past to save someone. Though The stairway of time is more of a romace story than Boku dake ga Inai Machi.
reportRecommended by Gifya
The premise of both stories is time travel involving an adult(s) being thrown back into his or her childhood in order to prevent a tragedy from happening. They both have a similar, serious feeling to them and deal with some heavy topics at times. Some of the differences are that Ano Natsu involving s several people going back in time, and has a butterflies on romantic relationships. In Erased, only the MC is aware of the time change, and the bulk of the story takes place at a younger "age" (revisiting elementary school, versus high school). Both are well written and worth reading.
reportRecommended by -Lupa-
Both are mystery based stories with a romantic undertone but Hakomari is faaaar better written and executed.
reportRecommended by Eliahpari
Though one is shoujo and one is shounen, Arisa and Erased are both mystery thrillers starring school aged kids. Arisa in particular is unusual for definitely being shoujo in that it has shoujo style art, female protagonists, and a focus on two sisters' relationship as siblings, but it has almost no romance to speak of, instead completely focusing on the plot, so I'd recommend it even for those who normally dislike shoujo.
reportRecommended by LadyAxeFace
These two manga have a somewhat similar feel to them, and both plots involve a main character who knows something about upcoming deaths that no one else knows about, and both main characters must, with the help of some allies, work to prevent those deaths from happening. In each story there is also someone in the MC's life that is working against them to sabatoge their attempts to save the victims

If you're interested in manga that explores themes of time travel and child abuse, while delving into the darker aspects of human nature, I would recommend "Takopii no Ganzai." This manga is known for its shockingly raw and cruel nature, despite being narrated through innocent eyes, which makes the story devastatingly brutal. On the other hand, if you prefer a plot that focuses on posing and developing mysteries, I suggest "Boku dake ga Inai Machi." This manga places more emphasis on building and unraveling mysteries within the storyline.

They tick a lot of the same boxes. They revolve around a tragedy. They're both murder mysteries centered around the ability to time travel. They have similarly detached MCs trying to figure out the best way to interact with the new times they've landed themselves in. And they have meaningful dialogue and relationships that are as enjoyable as the plot.

Time travel to save a classmate/friend.

Both protagonists relive their pasts to prevent tragic futures.
reportRecommended by NeoRinTinTin
Both deal with returning back to one's past as a child. While one is more of a thriller type dramatic tale, the other is more nostalgic, however, both feature a possible change in relationships with those around the protagonist during his early years.

Again!! and Boku Dake ga Inai Machi has the similar plot element of time travel/manipulation. Both series follows a main protagonist who has the chance to fix mistakes from the past. The story becomes more complicated as they try to change certain events while overcoming obstacles. There's also a decent amount of characterization as we see characters' motives and their role in the story. Again!! has a much more lighthearted atmosphere that takes place in a school life environment. On the other hand, Boku Dake ga Inai Machi follows the path of a psychological thrilling story with interpersonal conflicts and mature themes.
reportRecommended by Stark700
The premise of both series aren't alike but they provide a thrilling feel with their storytelling. Their plot development also gets more and more complicated each chapter as events unfold. In essence, the main male protagonist gets caught up in a conflict that he attempts to resolve with difficult circumstances. Their lives also intertwine with dangerous characters including serial killers. Boku dake ga Inai Machi is also known for its supernatural element involving time travel while Montage adapts a suspenseful tale to tell.

Do you like mystery manga involving time loops and rather clever protagonists on a mission to save someone? Then you'll have a lot to enjoy in both Kimi ga Shinu Natsu ni and Boku dake ga Inai Machi. I know I definitely did. These two titles have reasonable lengths at less than 50 chapters each, so binge read for best results; chances are you'll probably be on the edge of your seat anyway, so strap in for the ride.

thrilling and redemption are nouns i would choose to describe Onanie and Boku dake. The two series centered around a guy who try to make a girl's life better while going through character development themselves. Onanie is more prevert though.

Share the same concept: Repeating the same moment, until the correct thing is done. All you need is kill bring it in a shorter story when compared to boku dake ga inai machi.

ERASED and 20th Century Boys both are great mystery-seinen manga that looking for someone who responsible for the tragedy on both series. The plot of these manga are really similiar, the main characters are adults and both of them must remember an event since they were child (ERASED's MC even uses time leap).
reportRecommended by HiatusXHiatus
Both main characters are able to travel back in time to change certain events. Both revolving around murder. Boku Dake ga Inai Machi is about kidnapped children who are murdered and a man who travels back 15 years to solve the murders. While Re:Zero is about a boy being murdered and traveling through time every time it happens in a fantasy world.
reportRecommended by Madara22
Both involve a man that travels back in time and interacts with his past time line in order to stop a string of murders and crimes within their future.

If the author of Boku Dake was smoking the same stuff as Asano Inio these two would be pretty similar. Broken childhoods, teachers, missing father figures, group dynamics, old lies and all that...
reportRecommended by txrxgxu
Umareru Kachi is a evil version of Boku dake; both have protagonists who time-travel to their childhood, in their kid body. In the first the MC is a evildoer sicko who takes advantage of kids. In the second, MC is honorable and prevent deaths. Both are tragedies.

I don't know if it's just me but when I was reading Boku dake ga Inai Machi, I constantly get reminded of Aku no Hana. Maybe because Kayo and Nakamura give the same vibe as a character. These two manga may not be similar by plot but I assure that if you liked one of these, you'll definitely like the other.

Both have a main protagonist who returns to his child but retain their full intelligence and have to solve a murder case. While Detective Conan Is episodic, Boku dake ga Inai Machi centers only around a few murders. Both have to try to hide their real identity for others. Boku Dake has an overal darker atmosphere than Detective Conan.

The similarities are simple, anyone who has seen these two will notice that there are two sleeves time travel , in which players try to arrange things so that in the future these problems no longer exist
