Though one is shoujo and one is shounen, Arisa and Erased are both mystery thrillers starring school aged kids. Arisa in particular is unusual for definitely being shoujo in that it has shoujo style art, female protagonists, and a focus on two sisters' relationship as siblings, but it has almost no romance to speak of, instead completely focusing on the plot, so I'd recommend it even for those who normally dislike shoujo.
