Youkai, Spirits and Ayakashi. Same atmosphere and art.  

Both protagonists are supposed to be the next successor of their strangle families. They'd rather not be and spend a lot of time arguing with their crazy grandfathers because of it. However in Kekkaishi, the family is dedicated to protecting their land from monsters and demons while in Nurarihyon no Mago the family is a group monsters and demons. 

similar plot and atmosphere. both stories about hierarchy of yokai and onmyouji. 

Lots of similar themes, what with fighting demons and everything. Plus it's got the action/comedy/drama/kind of romance going on. 

The genre list is similar to InuYasha, except instead of having more of "swords clash and someone loses" the battles are a bit longer, and a lot of the series takes place in the same place, plus instead of Fantasy it's Supernatural, but other than that you have Comedy, Drama, and Romance. The only difference being it never gets repetitive. Terrific series, better than InuYasha in my opinion. 

They both have: demons, spirits, exorcists, exorcist society, with a protagonist with special abilities. 

Beyond the limits of fight-based shonen, the power of a whole world. The context of the two story is very different, as well as the main characters. What these two mangas have in common is the importance of the plot and of the wolrdbuild over the mere fight. In both cases, the fights are well done, they have the good rithm and light up your fire, but they are not the central focus. What is more important is the whole story, the adventures and a world that is built around the protagonists. These worlds are complex, but well presented, so that you can follow up all events and evolutions easily, and enjoy how the actions of the protagonists are influencing their world and viceversa. Moreover the psycological evolution of the various characters is deep and round, and many emotional (or even traumatic) moments are present. Lastly, both have a clear definition of the superpowers system, so that the reader never feels like "there was a forced conclusion to the fight thanks to a random power-up". The protagonists are not the strongest and they grow up in power during the manga. read more 

Both are shonen manga where the main characters fight evil demons, and both have orginazations. Also, both main characters have supernatural powers. 

Imagine Bleach never had the Karakura Town kids go to Soul Society and instead Ichigo fought hollows. You might have something like Kekkaishi, a series that has the same feel of the early chapters of Bleach. Kekkaishi is surprisingly deep for a shōnen manga (something Bleach goes in and out of) and focuses on it's protagonist much more than Bleach does.  

Both take the concepts of spirits in nature acting with and reacting to human-kind. The way I see it, Kekkaishi is what Shaman King should have been, or could have been if Hiroyuki Takei had taken better care of the story. If you like the vibe of Shaman King, and you're okay with an (initially) basic shonen protagonist, be sure to check it out.
