Lots of similar themes, what with fighting demons and everything. Plus it's got the action/comedy/drama/kind of romance going on.
The genre list is similar to InuYasha, except instead of having more of "swords clash and someone loses" the battles are a bit longer, and a lot of the series takes place in the same place, plus instead of Fantasy it's Supernatural, but other than that you have Comedy, Drama, and Romance. The only difference being it never gets repetitive. Terrific series, better than InuYasha in my opinion.
