From what episode did you like this anime? Personally, I really started to like it in episode 3, the first two episodes were nice but I didn't feel it, then it picks up and the current events are even better and I think this series may become one of my favorites👌 I'm asking this question because I was wondering why is this anime so underrated and I think it's because of the weaker beginning, people, like the miner from the memes, gave up and didn't reach the diamonds xD

From episode 1. The premise seemed pretty interesting and it is animated by Studio Trigger so the animation and fluidity is really great. The more episodes you watch, the more interesting it becomes and after ep 13 shit just got real ;d

Pretty much from the start. Episode 1.

It's just a cozy, good, lighthearted time and it feels like one of those Shows that you can just watch away. Put a random Episode on and just forget about the stupid real-world problems, for a bit.

The anime started off slow in my opinion but when it started picking up and becoming more than them just eating food that’s when it started becoming good for me. I think it was around when they got to the water.

From Episode 1 because I've already finished the manga lol. Been following this story since 2016 and it basically creeped up and became one of my favorite manga of all time.

It starts out slow because it has to naturally set up the world building but this is the type of story that keeps getting better as you keep watching. It reminds me of One Piece honestly. Also it's pretty funny that people go into this thinking that it's some chill episodic cooking anime lol because it isn't. There is a plot and story happening, and cooking is used to ingeniously tie it together. I don't blame them though because reliving this story through the anime made me realize how subtle the plot is at the start, you don't realize it's there until they're at the dragon.

2nd cour of the anime should be amazing because the plot is not going to be subtle anymore.

I was introduced to the series by the manga and it caught my interest, so pretty much from episode 1, the very beginning. I adore the cozy adventurous aesthetics of the show and I love the lore and the characters! The cooking aspect is the flavor to the meal! (Hahah, pun intended 😛) 🥘

And yes, I will continue watching this fantastic series! Craving for more! (Pun intended again😋) 🍽️

I liked it from episode 1. The story, humor, eating monster food, crazy situations, and more were enjoyable and entertaining.

This is a perfect example demonstrating that just watching 3-5 episodes of an anime is not enough to know if the anime is going to be good or not.
ejleonApr 2, 2024 6:45 PM
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I was almost about to dropped this anime after ep 3. Even though it was unique but the comedy and characters wasn't that impressive for me but after watching ep 6 it become my anime of the season.

I liked this from episode one, like many others. I liked the idea of them just traveling the dungeon and eating monsters. Would be simple and easy. However, now that it actually has a plot, like that lunatic magician etc and more to come. I don't care much for this. I have the same issue with the manga as well.

Got hooked on it from the very beginning, episode 1. I liked the premise and blend of fantasy and gourmet and as the series went on, the worldbuilding became so fascinating in my eyes but now it’s getting heated with the Red Dragon stuff.

I was impressed by it from the first episode, but I started getting hooked by episode 8. The tension and drama buildup in the background was right up my alley and the recent episodes pushed it from episode 7, impressed and technically great but a bit uninteresting personally to a solid 9, right up my ballpark with the intense drama and worldbuilding and complex characterisations. Hoping for a solid 2. cour to bump it up to 10.

From the jump it had me. It's not like it rocked my world or anything but it was fun enough for me to be like "well that was nice!" And it just got better as it went, especially recent episodes with the red dragon and Falin, who at this point I'm convinced is supposed to kiss Marcille at some point (also unlike what feels like the majority of people here I actually liked her the entire time so do with that what you will).

Helped it had an interesting world and that the way it presented monsters and whatnot is unique or at least not the usual perception of that monster, like mimics being crustaceans inhabiting objects and the dragon clicking its tongue like a lighter to breathe fire.

I started to really like the series starting from episode 3.

It started quite strong with Falin sacrificing herself, but then it kind of fell flat. Not to mention Marcille was at the beginning very annoying in my mind. Not in a quirky or cute way -just annoying. It felt like everybody was pulling wildly in different directions like there wasn't a clear tone or sound between everybody. Laios fanboying more about food than trying to rescue his sister, Marcille worrying over Falin but not realizing the importance of food (I now can see the irony and contrast between those two), Chilchuck's presence was very weak -it felt like his character didn't have any function, Senshi...was your oddball quirky character yet at the same time very bland and almost annoying? Not to mention it really felt like in those two first episodes the series was searching for its direction. Like...was this series more about food? The ecosystem of things? Rescuing Falin?

Everything was in the air and it seemed like the series couldn't pull itself together, until in the third episode when (at least for me) everything started to make more sense. Characters started to become more than just one-dimensional, their roles became clearer, and thus their personalities while some weren't anymore so much prisoners of the first impressions one could get about them. Not to mention the overall plot started to balance better food and dungeon theme.

I think the series just needed that much time to start kicking off -at least for me. I'm just glad I didn't quit it after the first two episodes because now the series is very good. It just needed time to marinate.

First sequence from the 1st episode was kai ikarashi and ichigo kanno. I don't think I needed anymore persuading this was gonna be a treat for the eyes.

this is a non-Hiroyuki Imaishi type of production, which is also a manga adaptation and they really gave it the Trigger flair along with respectfully adapting the series the best they can. I'm hoping to read the manga after this. The people who dropped this will soon complain about animation and redundancy so I'm not too worried about the childish tantrums every hormonal teenager goes through.

I'm all in this. THEY FUCKING ANIMATED A DRAGON IN 2D, DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE THAT IS RN????

I fell in love after watching the Netflix opening, where they talk about how it's easier to cut walking mushrooms vertically instead of horizontally. I've never gone to watch a show faster.

The idea of them learning about monsters by cooking them as enough to sell me on it lol

Liked? Episode 1, but at that time I believed that calling it the "Frieren killer", as some manga readers on /a/ were saying, was laughable.

Changed my mind, realizing I'd even put it above Frieren? Episode 4, thanks to the story about Senshi and the golems.

I agree, it was a bit slow at first and the cooking segments felt somewhat crammed in. They come along a lot more naturally alongside the story now.

Honestly ep1-~3 is kinda mid in terms of production. It lacks Trigger's usual sparking animation style
I was a bit disappointed with the production for the first 2 episodes actually cuz it lacks ambition and creativity.
(Especially when Frieren s2 was airing side by side in the same season with gorgeous animation and lots of original contents)
But then Ep5 start picking up in animation quality, and it gets progressively better as the series go on.

I want to say maybe around episode 3 or after also. I think I was just kinda anxious or nervous about the whole sister being eaten part and was way more concerned about that than the food or whatever else. I wasn't sure just how serious that situation really was. I mean, Laios wasn't dismissive of it, but he didn't kinda treat the situation... in a kinda relaxed way? I mean, he was taking it seriously enough to take on the journey, but... meanwhile you had Marcille who was kinda really anxious about the whole situation. So that difference in attitudes had me a bit on edge. Now that I've watched more, I'm aware that Laios is purposely a little socially awkward, and so now it all makes sense.
I think the more I learned about the lore how the characters interact, and such the more I was able to just chill and go along for the ride. Now I genuinely enjoy myself as I roll through this anime.

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria

To be honestsince the manga was so beloved I waited for an adaption and I really happy I did, the first few episodes are really good and I dont know when i totally fell in love with it. But this has one of the deepest and best world lbuilding I have ever seen in any franchise. Also I not a big fan of anime comedy, but almost all of the jokes land too.
