Ah, I see Chiho still hasn't changed much yet this season.

This episode was also one of the few times I've seen Emi this angry. Like very angry. It was also nice to see Suzuno break out her hammer and take into some action. Still, this episode had way more drama than I had expected.

The plot thickened this episode, I thought the stuff with Emi Yusa was really interesting, I’m kinda surprised by the fact she’s this torn over Maou not being a bad guy and her father being alive, but it does make sense as Chiho and Suzuno explained, my guess is that she’ll find a new reason to fight eventually, and I’m thinking it will involve her friends and Alus Ramus.

And now the demons are trying to bring Maou back to their original world once again but of course Maou isn’t having it lol, and that led to the first good bit of action this season when Emi Yusa, Suzuno and Sarue broke in to save Chiho and Maou, it was a pretty good scene too imo, and the reveal at the end of the fight that there’s another kid like Alus Ramus was cool, he looks pretty similar to Maou too I noticed. And that was a damn nice ED by Liyuu, very cute visuals too, and speaking of visuals I liked a lot of the expressions in this episode, they do look better than last season’s imo.

First time i seen a crew member scare away customers. Thats a nice goal the manager aspired to achieve. If anything the combo of Chi's desire to help her friends and her innate talent really is a powerful force that would allow her to learn anything she wants at a rapid pace. Damm Sariel sure is a shadow of his former self. If anything Maou's kindness and care towards his friends really has serevd to make Emi lose her core goal. The pushy demon's sure picked a perfect time to show up though. Looks like we have a new mystery on our hands in the form of Erone though.

They're going to start adding more mystery at the beginning of the series to keep me interested. Well, they win, I'm interested. It makes me think that Ramus is born from that little plant that disappeared in episode 01. But that plant could have been a piece of the Tree of Life. That's just a theory, I haven't read the manga or watched far enough yet.

Right when we get a meaningful conversation between Maou and Emi there is an interruption. Emi is right though it seems like Maou is just happy to live out his normal days in Japan. I think this whole episode asks that important question of what does Maou do now. Emi revenge plan has fizzled out since her dad could still be alive, Maou doesn't want to conquer earth, so what is there for them each to do. Emi has lost her main motivation and it's completely changed how she sees Maou and what she should do now. Chiho wish of having them all forget about their home world and just continue the everyday lives they've built couldn't be that far fetched now. Maou certainly seems like that's what he wants. Even when some other demon comes offering even more of the land back home Maou says no. Chiho must definitely be getting strong like Bell said since she got grabbed into that barrier. Maou got offered that magic which will return his ferocity I bet that will come into play later this season. Him and Emi still have some things to work out but they know what the other wants now.

Hating agenda aside this was a decent episode. Addressed some pretty big questions about Maou and Emi’s future. Now that they’re content living in the human world, what does the future have in store for them?

Emi’s whole purpose was revenge and now that that’s gone, you can really see how lost she feels. Maou wanted to conquer the world and now he’s just comfortable working in the food service industry and making drinks.

This seems like it’ll be a pivotal next few episodes for the cast as they decide their next steps and find new purposes in life.

I know a lot of people have been disappointed since this anime was continued with Studio 3Hz, but there really is a lot to like about this show (interesting world building, cute characters, pretty humorous, etc.).

Not for nothing, is it just me or does the animation from these first two episodes look better than the last batch of episodes (more interesting shot composition, characters staying on model better, etc.)? I cannot quite put my finger on it, but it just seems to look better to me than the last iteration.

No, I agree with you. Just when it comes to changing the show, I would prefer for the change to happen slowly over time. Like a classic anime Bleach. The animation was bad at first but it got better as the show went. And yeah, I did notice the animation was a bit better in the first few episodes.

I think they’re trying to mirror the manga’s art style.

I was pretty dissappointed with the last cour, but I really loved this series so I decided not to drop this. And I'm glad that this cour looks way better compared to the last cour. The action direction was so bad in the previous part, but it left like a huge upgrade in this part. Hope this keeps up.

Hm, it seems that Emi isn't the only one facing an internal crisis; poor Sariel has also been struggling. Being barred from the Sentucky store and kept away from Kisaki resulted in him losing all that weight he had gained.

The demon realm seems to be experiencing restlessness in Maou's absence. I'm curious about Farfarello's connection to Erone, who appears to be similar to Alas Ramus. How did Farfarello come to have custody of the kid? At least, it's comforting to know that nobody got hurt, and it's nice to see everyone still has their abilities intact.

Emi's entire life was a lie, poor girl doesn't know what to do now. Maou actually tried to cheer her up but since Emi knew he isn't the bad guy they think he was, it didn't really help. Another demon came to take Maou back and gave him a suspicious energy ball, pretty sure it's gonna make Maou go berserk or have a personality change. Also wonder what's up with that Erone kid.

I can't blame Emi for her position at the moment. She's been powered on for so long by revenge, but since that motive has been taken away, she's struggling to find the next step to take herself in. It reflected on her attitude towards Maou outside McRonald's in front of everyone. It was probably a good thing that demon came along and Maou warped to him, as he admit himself that he was going to retort back to Emi with words that he might end up regretting. At the very least, he was able to vent his built up anger towards the demon in question.

The fight was expected and while the demon was a pushover, the kid with him, Erone, was tough enough to make Suzuno look weak. Emi's attack was enough to break his armour, but it was good timing Alus Ramus popped up to stop the fight as she knew that Erone was similar to her. We haven't seen the last of the pair, that's for sure.

Overall, this was a pretty good episode and an improvement over the previous one. I always like my nano.RIPE songs and this OP is no exception, while the ED is cute and had some nice visuals with Chiho wearing different casual outfits which all looked great on her.

Another thing to note is that, along with the OP and ED visuals, the overall production quality seems to be better as well. Sure, there's still rough edges here and there, but compared to the previous season last year, the improvements aren't hard to spot. It's a step in the right direction and I hope it continues to get better visually. =)

And yeah, let's just forget about the hundreds, if not thousands, of people who did die under Maou's reign. Emi's father is alive so it's all good in the world.

I was happy to see Maou call Emi on constantly picking fights.  WTH were the crocodile tears for?  I truly can't stand her character.

Looks like Alas Ramus is one of 4 weapons. Erone didn't seem to recognize her. Should be interesting.

An actual good episode, a lot of character development along with some plot development. Emi struggling with her motivation now that she's learned her father is alive is compelling, especially how it impacts her relationship with Maou.

Art and animation still looking iffy though.

I never questioned, but how did Maou and Ashiya even wanted to conquer the human world lol. Learning about them by serving fries and burgers isn't really it.

Though good thing we're moving as far as plot is concerned.

Chiho is slowly getting used to her voice algorithms, though Maou's idea of a coffee barista is wholly different from what he expected. In fact, Kisaki recommending him to do so is an upgrade on its own. That said, Chiho being taken care of Emi and Suzuno is better than nothing, though having Sariel would help out a fair bit in this regard...which he's slimmed down quite a fair bit, because of Kisaki's coffee. The Hero and the Devil's spat that has Emilia worried that her dad may be out there, though Maou would want to quickly go back to his life in Ente Isla, conquering the demons and the world thereafter.

Maou getting whizzed away by demon Farfarello and human kid Erone of the Malebranche, and apart from the swift moment that Chiho went missing from the same dimensional phase barrier, Maou's whims to just be recognized in all of the things that he do, Chiho being there is a betrayal to his "world conquering" plot. Even worse, Sariel managing to break the barrier, though Alas Ramus paused Emi's tracks because she sensed an inkling, yep, like the Shard of Yesod that the former was birthed from, Erone is yet another Shard.

The only good thing now is that the plot's moving forward.

"I haven't forgotten about the Demons"

"I don't want to return"

yea.... that's totally not the definition of Abandonment, LOL

.

In a reverse of what some ppls think, I am only watching this anime cause Ramus is cute.

Since the plot and character development is crap level.

Even Chi's training is crap looking... so yelling lets you learn how to use magic... is that really how magic work? lol...

.

But then again... this series isn't exactly meant to be a human-demon world building anime... it's more or less "daily life and drama of working in a fast food restaurant"

So most of the world building is crap writing, LOL. (and this is what 90% of ppls complains about this series)

At first I thought this episode was going to just be chill and fun, but things built up real quick. I never once thought there would be any major focus on COFFEE of all things. It really shows how much Mao takes his job seriously.

But that’s not the main part of the episode. Eri has lost her purpose now knowing that Mao didn’t kill her father. Her entire reason for being here was to kill him (something that I forgot about given the lore of this series is a little too much for me to fully comprehend and the fact that it’s been a bit since the last season ended). Then as their conversation is heating up, Mao is teleported by Farfarello and Erone and more drama ensues. Has Mao really softened and given up on conquering the world or will he just do it a different way. Also, HOW DID CHIYO GET THERE?! Is this what she was training for in the previous episode?! Does Idea linking allow her to teleport to people?

Well, there’s more to come!

The ED have a Monogatari vibes. The song also cute. Finally an action scene that i waiting for. But its too short. Hope there more in this season. Seems like Emi lost her opportunity when she heard that he father's alive. But Maou seems give her hope too, i see the pattern here. Another Yesod has found, Erone. Damn, this getting more interesting.
