![]() Matsumoto began serializing the action sci-fi manga on the Shounen Jump+ in July 2020. Shueisha published the seventh volume on July 4. Kaijuu 8-gou has a cumulative 7.8 million copies of its volumes in circulation. VIZ Media simultaneously publishes the manga in English and released the third volume on July 12. Manga Plus also simulpublishes it in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian, Russian, and French. Kaijuu 8-gou placed third in the 2020 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings' male readers category. The manga was also nominated for the 14th Manga Taisho award in March. Synopsis Grotesque, Godzilla-like monsters called "kaijuu" have been appearing around Japan for many years. To combat these beasts, an elite military unit known as the Defense Corps risks their lives daily to protect civilians. Once a creature is killed, "sweepers"—working under the Professional Kaijuu Cleaner Corporation—are left to dispose of its remains. Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man, is unsatisfied with his job as a sweeper. From a young age, he has aspired to join the Defense Corps and kill kaijuus for a living. After a few failed attempts, however, he gave up on his dreams and resigned himself to the mediocrity that provided a decent paycheck. Nevertheless, when an ambitious, 18-year-old recruit named Leno Ichikawa joins his cleaning team, Kafka is once again reminded of his desire to join the military. Following a chain of unfortunate events and an interaction with the junior sweeper, Kafka encounters a parasite-type kaijuu that forces its way in through his mouth—turning him into a humanoid monster. With his newfound powers, Kafka aims to give his lifelong dream a final try. i hope its a fast pace faithful enough adaptation so the funny moments and heartwarming scenes on the manga will be shown good but with how popular this is already they might slow down the pacing in the anime and that is bad like how boring Demon Slayer anime adaptation is sometimes because of the slow pacing compared to the manga |

Hell yeah! The mangas taking a 1 month break to prepare for the new arc. It's probably going to be a huge battle arc, so I'm really excited. Hope they announce the studio for the anime soon as well. |

Let me know when the moderators approve this, I will add the show to several of my stacks at once. It doesn't focus much on the hero aspect, but more on showcasing huge kaijus and intense battles, as well as the main characters regrets and goals. But it's really good. I've been following this since chapter 1 dropped 2 years ago, I love it, but it's quite generic. It has good ratings overall and ppl seem to enjoy it regardless tho. And it's the 2nd best selling Jump+ manga after Spy x Family. |

Anyway, if it's popular at the SxF level, it already sounds like good publicity. And unfortunately, I can already see how the elitist will hate it. |

That said, the first episode will probably appeal to a broader audience. Chapter 1 of the manga makes it seem like it's going to be a mature series, more like a seinen than a shonen, not like AoT or CSM, the themes it introduces are a lot more similar to seinen manga. But the progression is shonenesque. It seems to be taking a more mature turn with the upcoming arc tho. |

Hmm no, it's the opposite actually. Think of a seinen drama, about a protagonist who wasted all his life, and now at almost 40 decides to chase his dreams again. It's a very heartwarming series with very funny and cute moments. It is super action packed and barely has any dialogue. The author likes to let the art speak for itself. The mangas strongest point is the fights and art. This is one of those series that needs a great studio, otherwise it'll fall flat. |

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime. Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait. MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol. |

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime. Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait. MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol. |

The mangas taking a 1 month break to prepare for the new arc. It's probably going to be a huge battle arc, so I'm really excited. Hope they announce the studio for the anime soon as well. Could this be a good superhero battle shonen anime? Let me know when the moderators approve this, I will add the show to several of my stacks at once. I wouldn't call it a superhero battle shonen. It's more like AoT mixed with One Punch Man. Well, it's literally two action shonen and the kaijuu theme is one of the top themes in tokusatsu. Anyway, if it's popular at the SxF level, it already sounds like good publicity. And unfortunately, I can already see how the elitist will hate it. Yeah unfortunately it will receive a lot of hate. So, in terms of style, it's pretty edgy, if I understand you correctly? Hmm no, it's the opposite actually. Think of a seinen drama, about a protagonist who wasted all his life, and now at almost 40 decides to chase his dreams again. It's a very heartwarming series with very funny and cute moments. It is super action packed and barely has any dialogue. The author likes to let the art speak for itself. The mangas strongest point is the fights and art. This is one of those series that needs a great studio, otherwise it'll fall flat. Sounds like an action shonen version of Akebi's sailorfuku. If I had to pick one weak point, it's how shonenesque it is. Which to me isn't a bad thing at all, I actually kinda love it for that exact reason, but you know how anime fans are... Well, if before people only hated Naruto, now it seems like the wave is going against the shonen "genre" itself. True. It's honestly getting tiresome hearing the same ppl whine about the same stuff constantly. Wish everyone would just watch what they liked and ignore everything else, but that's too much to ask I guess. It's just that Western fandom is rapidly turning into Russian fandom, where hatred for something is an indicator of high taste. I wish it would be more like albanian fandom. All we do is hype everything up no matter how good or bad it is. It's honestly more fun that way. Enjoy anime for what it is. Your words hurt the patriotic spirit in me :D. But seriously, I wouldn't mind either if people just enjoyed their favorite anime. |

Oh I thought the anime adaptation was already officially announced a while ago lol. Well not surprising news at all. Storyline-wise, Kaiju's like as basic as you can get for a shounen, like DS and JJK, but if the fighting scenes are animated decently it could turn out to be quite an enjoyable watch. Looking forward to it. Maybe adapted by Studio MAPPA or Bones? |

Can be awesome if it gets OPM first season treatment, otherwise it will be just a decent time waster. Manga started strong but got rather stale with time, so the base isn't that strong. |
