Geez, Ikuto needs to control his emotions better.

Looks like we got more showcase of fashion and clothing in the professional environment. I kinda like the pacing of this series, getting us more familiar with the style of the storytelling. That being said, I hope they raise the stakes of the fashion world. Still a show with a lot of potential.

Wow that's good. I love this show.
Next, it's time to Ikuto and Chiyuki to make Yanagida proud for them

Ikkun needs to get used to nudeness now that the dude wants to work in fashion industry. I don't think the guy can get a lot further with his saintly attitude.

Chiyuki was awesome and bold as always. I hope she rocks the next runway.

Looking forward to how ikkun handles the situation.

Kinda have mixed feelings about this episode since some parts were a bit irritating but most of the episode was great. Things went pretty intense in the last part, hopefully Ikuto will make Chiyuki shine again.

I'm glad Ikuto is the actual protagonist. He's a way better character than Chiyuki. This episode handled most of the gripes I had with the last episode well. It was very realistic and also showed the harsh side of fashion industry. I'm interested to see how Ikuto will grow. my rating of this show would've risen into 7 if it wasn't for that stupid fanservice. I hope there won't be too much of it.

It seems like everyone in this show is autistic, bipolar or both. Is this fashion industry accurate? lol

Didn't know it was possible to fit this many outbursts into a single episode, and man was it roundabout getting everyone into their appropriate 'positions' in the show. I guess we know what the pattern's going to be for the rest of the series, dramatic events strung together in place of any kind of development or character moments. I'm just here to see super tall anime models in high heels so it's whatever.

I'm pretty glad that I didn't sleep on this show. Although this episode didn't have much Chiyuki, she was still pretty important. And as I thought, we will see an excentric cast of characters. Makes sense for the fashion industry, but also for shounen shows of this type. I'm pretty sure there will be more "interesting" characters to come. Ikuto's "moments" were actually pretty intense, more than I was expecting of him.

What I find strange is the way this show introduces drama and nearly immediately defuses it. This happened in episode 1 when Miyuki was fired but 10 minutes later had her job back. In this episode we have it with Ikuto not getting the job, but then coming back some time later and at least getting "something" at the designer's place. Some of this stuff looks like cliffhanger material or things that would at least simmer for some time. But here most of the tension is gone pretty fast.

Talk about a bad day. But convenient for Chiyuki and Ikuto, now they can ahowcase their skills and prove their worth.

And lol, I guess many people in the fashion industry are eccentric.

So Ikuto really was mad at Chiyuki for what she did last episode. Love this turn of events! Looks like it helped him grow a backbone, though. I think their shared journey is a really unique one, really interested in seeing how they'll develop as characters.

I only watch this for best boy Ikuto, he and his family are the only likable characters in this story.

This is what I dislike the most about "shonen" oriented shows, everything has to be blown out of proportion otherwise it won't shock and awe it's demographic.

Yes indeed, the fashion industry is quite ruthless when it comes to timming, but it feels stupidly exagerated from Yanagida to overwork his only two helpers and even deprive them of sleep in order to make the deadline. It also doesn't add up that he's allegedly being preparing his collection of 40 dresses for 6 months, when it feels that all the work has been done almost overnight. Also if Yanagida's work is so important to make it to the deadline, why the hell did he rip the dress he was wearing? and why was he wearing it if it's meant to be worn by a model with obvious smaller proportions (I've never seen a buffed up tall female model that matches Yanagida's bodytype)

I liked Chiyuki's character in the first episode, but in this one in the first part, she just sounds spoiled and douchelike when she was returning Ikuto's dress. I thought it would turn out into a shonen cliche of encouraging him to thrive for his dream of being a pro designer, but it never showed this kind of angle to that scene. At least Ikuto is quite likeable with his 2 faces, being soft spoken but also knowing when to stand his ground and give others an earfull.

The humor is terribly tacky and completely uncalled in the most dire situations, wished these terrible tropes would be erradicated to full blown comedy shows.

Wished I hadn't had my hopes up from the PVs from a few months ago.

I was naive. I really believed that Chiyuki's father was going to hire Tsumura right then and there, but I guess that life can still be hard even with luck, and a bit of nepotism, on your side. Neither Tsumura or Chiyuki are backing down though. Tsumura accepted that he wants to be a designer, and he is hanging in there. Would it kill Yanagida to be kinder to those who work with him though? I mean, I understand he put a lot of work into this moment, and that he isn't obliged to hire an amateur if he doesn't want. But acting like that, being so aggressive, isn't going to help with anything. Welp, it's a lot of pressure, but I believe that both Tsumura and Chiyuki are about to give another step towards their dream. Here's hoping he manages to make her shine with that dress.

Great episode again.

Loved how Chiyuki keeps encouraging Tsumura throughout the episode especially that scene between Chiyuki and Tsumura just before he met the eccentric designer.
Chiyuki is so lovable. <3

Some of the events towards the end during the fashion show were all to convenient but hey I guess sometimes coincidences do happen. Pretty sure Chiyuki's Dad must have pulled some strings behind the scenes. He looks out for his daughter more than he lets on.
We got some Chiyuki service though, I approve.

Looking forward to more.

The episode was quite intense, Chiyuki and Ikuto go the hard way of fashion in this episode.

Chiyuki in a way ruined the opportunity of Ikuto, although if I am objective Ikuto would not have been able to work either, since he is a high school student it is a very risky measure for a company to hire someone without training, Ikuto has experience and that is clearly seen, but in this society if you do not have a university diploma that accredits you they do not hire you and as for Chiyuki, she deserves the suspension, even if she is the president's daughter, she did not have to lie that way, it would have meant a tremendous risk.
Other thing that bothers me was when Chiyuki tells Ikuto that she will ask her father again to hire him, I get irritated that after hearing Ikuto's words she left him the outfit that made her famous and tells Ikuto that she does not want to wear the clothes of an unknown designer, the good thing is that Ikuto puts Chiyuki in her place, but Ikuto's personality did not allow him to stay close to Chiyuki and he goes back, I know she has good intentions, but her egoism can bring more trouble to Ikuto and for her too.

Anyway, Ikuto gathers his courage, added to Chiyuki's support and talks with the father again, this time the gentleman sees determination in the young man's face and offers him to work with a professional designer and Ikuto accepts.
Yanagida was everything that awaited , a good-looking designer, but with an aggressive personality and with a reduced patience and zero tolerance for failures, the way he destroyed the dress that Ikuto helped him ... wow he left me amazed, it also struck me to see his exploited workers lying on the floor with dark circles in their eyes from the little rest they have, here I rescue the determination of Ikuto, he really believes in Chiyuki's words and he doesn't give up in front of his first failure
It's amazing how the first experience of Ikuto as an assistant was in the Tokyo fashion week, we could feel the tension in the backstage, the models preparing and the Yanagida staff frenetically running and fixing details, but problems were to be expected, a model will not attend and as a replacement they send Chiyuki, this ends up enraging Yanagida, but in the end he accepts leaving the responsibility of the show's success to her, but the problems do not end there, Moriyama who is the dressmaker of Yanagida faints while trying to adapt the dressed for Chiyuki and this is where Ikuto offers himself to finish the job.
I laughed a lot with Ikuto's reaction when Chiyuki got naked in front of him and then he realized that his reaction was exaggerated, although Ikuto is a unaware to the fashion world, so he is forgiven.

The chemistry of Chiyuki and Ikuto is strengthened as a good designer-model duo, I don't see a romantic approach, Chiyuki's personality is too dominant and selfish, as far as Ikuto, he may go through a fondness, but maybe a girl attractive as Chiyuki appears or even more attractive than her (I know there will be a cuter girl than the FMC, but the MC is too blind to see her, there is always a resource like this in these anime )

Today there was OP and ED, they sound pretty good, especially the OP that has a very good pace, especially when Chiyuki walks the runway and changes her outfit with every step she takes.
We saw a lot of characters that I can imagine that would mean a change in the life of Ikuto and Chiyuki, personally the tall girl with short hair called my attention, I want to meet her.

I also found a lot of forced drama and sudden and unnatural character behaviors in this show.
Although I thought the original comics is ladies' comics (the comics for woman in their twenties to thirties) from the art style, it is a series for a magazine for boys. This coming and going development may come from this. If you say it in a word, class-B plot.

What an exciting episode! It looks like Smile Down the Runway will focus on the complications and intricacies that come with working in the fashion industry, what with the tough schedule the designers endured for the fashion show. Both Ikuto and Chiyuki have a steep hill to climb if they are to survive in the fashion world. This was a great episode and I can't wait to see what happens next.

You're correct :)

I'm still on the fence with this series so far. The art style is pretty and clean, I'm interested in Ikuto's growth (not invested in Chiyuki's yet though), but I don't like the presentation of the drama. It might be better in the manga because there's more time to flesh out scenes?

Shoot, this is another crazy and intense episode! And that bloody cliffhanger!

Fujito definitely didn't sign up for this but that's just life in the bustling fashion industry, I suppose. Definitely didn't expect that strip scene though, makes sense how the models are able to change so quickly for one thing. Guess I just never really bothered to find out why, is more like it in reality.

Chiyuki withstanding the harsh comments and knowing full well she was stepping right into some heat and backlash right away was really admirable and courageous from her part, on another note. I'm not sure why most people have seemingly just dismissed her off already.

Damn, Fujito being rejected there on the spot at the mid-episode interval was quite something though. Having watched the PV, I could smell it was coming but was still pretty startled despite the heads-up. Yikes, the "let's pretend this conversation never happened" though...

Intriguing usage of soundtracks again, in my opinion. Only downside so far I see would be the with the handling of the drama pretty much and a bit of the pacing, which isn't too much an issue now however but doesn't seem to be slowing down so I fear it's just a matter of time before things get a little too out of hand or so to speak.

Definitely looking forward to more! Never did I imagine that I'd be watching an anime on the fashion industry, let alone enjoy it. I mean, I've watched the 2nd part of Shikioriori and Skip Beat! (idol focus though which I imagine is a similar field) but didn't expect such a dive into the workings of the industry from two perspectives' no less!

It's definitely more fleshed out in the manga; we get more set up to the meeting between Ikuto and Chiyuki's dad, and we also get to hear Ikuto's perspective on why he designed his outfit the way he did. They also cut out some other bits of conversation though it's mostly nitpicking on my part. I like the manga too much to not be following the anime so I'd definitely recommend the manga if you want more!

Also we got through 5 chapters of content (2-6) in this episode so naturally it'll feel a little rushed.

A great episode. Even better than the first one. Didn't expect it to be that good - for a shounen with this setting. (Seinen or Josei with mature chars in a fashion setting would have been more interesting I thought.)

Pacing is good. Also the other chars are good. The senior designer where the MC wants to work/help reminds me a bit of Shinomiya from Shokugeki no Souma. Strict but eventually they'll understand each other.

Now let's see if the girl with the ugly clothes (I guess some fashion magazine reporter?) will get some clothes made by the main as well. :D

I like the other female (that collapsed with nosebleed from overwork) as well. Feels a bit constructed/forced how it now suddenly is up to the main to help ... but hey ... it's a shounen and we get tha everywhere. And with those chars and the way it is handled so far ... pretty nice. Imo the strongest show I'm watching atm.

In this context IT DOES. Notice how all the other models get a shot from their naked back to imply that they are being dressed by the assistants while being naked. While Chiyuki gets the whole package of flashing her bra and whole frontal shots of her while nude (even though her hair is covering her nipples).

If her cutscene changing clothes was like the other models did, it wouldn't had been considered fanservice.

I don't get, in ep 1 Chiyuki was accepted in another modeling agency, so does she keep coming back to her father's modeling agency????

Also, Ikuto's clothes that Chiyuki wore got a lotta attention from social media and in fact his design was a hit , so doesn't he put on-line and make money outta it????

Well, at laest we see Ikuto having like a fashion designer's bitch fit, since in reality they do have such fit especially on the run way when things get really busy.....

exactly my thoughts
i don't like how they cut out some of the details (like the part where the nosebleed girl noticed the sketch the mc drew and was surprised how he managed to copy it perfectly)

i dont know where u saw the humiliation, but what i saw is growth. they're necessary obstacles a character, a person must overcome in life. you can't expect everything to go your way. there're stuff that you have to work for.

Ikuto does "have the goods for". He's already shown his talent in the first episode. If that's not enough for you, then wait till the 3rd episode cause Ikuto will show you more how he's way more talented than Yamagi (whatever his name is) thought he is. Also, there was a moment cut out from this episode that's supposed to show just how talented Ikuto truly is but for some reason it wasn't included in the anime.

Also yamagi's rejection is a setback. the main girl's father saw something in Ikuto that's why he recommended him to work at Yamagi's place. and yamagi rejecting him is because of pre-established belief that ikuto has no talent, is not skilled, and is just a wannabe, which are all false.

Damn the professional world sure is harsh. Everyone seems to stay composed whatever the situation is. Also I never knew models wear nude. That was quite the ordeal for an amateur like Ikuto.
Hyped for the model walk next episode.

So this time it's Ikuto's turn to taste some hardship, that's nice. I'm liking the tense moments so far.
