Not bad, Majime's work relationship with Nishioka is also going steady.

I'm kinda sad that the episode didn't focus much on Majime's relationship with Kaguya though. Maybe they're saving it for later as the show itself has a slow pace. However, I think the episode did a good job at focusing on Nishioka's work and following his dreams even with working with his professor. Good realism usual for the episode as well.

Lmao Nishioka resorted ass-kissing that Oda guy then does a 180 and threatens to blackmail him to get the revisions passed through.

Oh my god, i love Nishioka.

He's going straight in my top 10 characters of all time. He's grown to like Majime and his work ethics a lot and wants to finish The Great Passage together with him.

He uses his conversation skills to first smooth talk Oda and when that didn't work and he realized that he can't let it go down this way, he straight blackmailed him! What an amazing dude, he hit two flies in one hit with that. The continuation of The Great Passage is pretty much secured and he can be with his girlfriend without worrying too much anymore.

Speaking of those two, that has to be the most maturedly handled love relationship i have seen in some time. Wonderful pair and how they act together. I got a real big fuzzy feeling when she worried about him while caressing his hair. Fuck, man.

I also wanted to see a focus on Majime and Kaguya's relationship this episode. But focus on Nishioka wasn't bad. I still hope he can somehow get out of being transferred.

Excellent episode, Maybe the best one till date.

Really like how Nishioka has grown to accept Majime and become good friends with him. It was very heartwarming when he reassured Majime that he wasn't alone.

Damn, The scene between the sensei and Nishioka was easily the highlight of this episode, It was amazing. I love how he went back on his smooth talk when sensei got that smug look and asked him to kneel before him. It's great to see that Nishioka really identifies himself with the dictionary and wants to work as hard as possible for it. His refusal to kneel just because he felt it would undermine the pride of the dictionary was awesome. That final blackmail really put that guy in his place. XD

Nishioka and Miyoshi have a very sweet relationship.

It's a good thing Nishioka didn't "kneel" by the likes of Professor Oda...

Nishioka was a total savage in this episode. I'm glad to see that he stuck with what he really believed in instead of continuing to kiss the old dude's ass. He also looks like he's going to be more open about his relationship rather than hiding it all the time, it's good to see some growth in his personal life as well.

Hopefully we can get some progression on Majime and Kaguya's relationship in the next episode.

Great episode.

I like how the show isn't just focusing on Majime but Nishioka is getting enough attention and development as well.

His moment with Oda sensei was the best till date in the anime. Fucking loved how he went from smooth talking to the blackmailing XD

And it's nice to see how good and reliable friends Majime and Nishioka has become.

And oh, Majime doesn't look bad with those glasses at the end. Not at all XD

An almost entire episode that focuses on Nishioka. I'm so happy that we get to know him more although for me it just reaffirms what I thought about him based on previous episodes. I wonder who initiated not to reveal their relationship between Nishioka and his girlfriend... Nishioka is truly a loyal man to both his co-workers and his girlfriend as well, love him more and more.

I'm curious how Nishioka knows about the professor having an affair is it because the professor keeps hiding his lunchbox from people's eyes? In a way his assumption works very well on the professor. This is why Nishioka is heavily needed in the dictionary department!!

Amazing episode. Nishoka vs the professor guy was great. Looking forward to the next episode. I guess Nishiokas relationship with the girl from PR department will go public then. And Majime might start doing some of the work Nishioka has done up til now. (He needs to learn it when he is by himself later.)

Hopefully we'll get a meeting between Nishioka and the professor Oda guy. That would be interesting to see. :D When instead of sweet-talking Majime would only be able to honestly tell the truth (telling him that he is the one where they need to to revise the most).

I think it's better than those seen so far, with regard to the topic addressed and beyond. From the beginning, the audience expected a narrative focused on language and etymology of words, this episode captures this point, then the twists give more intensity to the plot. Drawings and animations, good, I like that part of the narrative, it is also dedicated to Nishioka and his girlfriend.

While Nishioka's character is interesting enough, he's not my type of person. He works very hard tho. And he told Oda good.

It's wonderful how one ordinary act of bravery can make an unforgettable scene (the moment when Nishioka asked Remi to go to that restaurant).
He's like the best character of this show (no wonder when he is done by Kamiya Hiroshi - pretty funny thinking Saitou Chiwa is voicing his girlfriend here too, even though her voice is more on par with Kotori from Rewrite this time).

Also, this time the music was especially good too.

No Kaguya, but the episode was really great. Nishioka changed because of his relationship with Majime. It's amazing to see how they became good friend. He took the decision to protect what he likes, the dictionary and his wife.

Hmm, I think they just wanted to keep their distance at work, to separate private live and job and keep the professionalism given that they work at the same company. Or perhaps that is one of the company's rule to prohibit relationship between the employees, that's why they seem really concern if someone from the workplace could see them together.

As usual, a great episode.

Nishioka's a really great guy. His teamwork with Majime is just awesome, his passion is really showing and he really is working hard, and he's smart and cunning too! I definitely think now that The Great Passage would not be possible without him or the work he has done. That scene with Oda was awesome! He first tried to smooth-talk him, and when that failed, he took a stand and (sort of?) blackmailed Oda! (Also, what a douchebag of a professor)

Also really liking Nishioka's girlfriend. She's so mature, understanding, and caring. A lot of girls would definitely (and rightly) complain about not being able to go out and eat together, but she understands and puts up with it. Not just that, she seems really worried for Nishioka and shows him great support and love. Was really happy to see Nishioka inviting her to that squid place and not caring anymore about other people seeing them, they (especially she) deserve it!

Slightly disappointed with this episode because it didn't show Majime and Kaguya, especially Majime going to Apricot since it's the first time Kaguya will be handling things, really wanted to see that! Also, it just feels really on edge. Last episode, they basically confessed to each other. Now, we know nothing yet!

Can't wait to see more Majime and Kaguya.

I'm actually surprised by the amount of love Nishioka is getting - not because he doesn't deserve it, but because they downplayed him quite a bit in the anime. I've been reading the original novel recently, and comparing the two depictions of his conversations with Remi, the anime version is far weaker.

The two are much less of a "normal" loving couple. The section in the novel corresponding to this episode even goes so far as to mention that Nishioka has been seeing other women, and she probably other men, but somehow they always drift back together anyway, without actually acknowledging it as a real relationship, especially towards others.

That disgusted/irritated face he makes? It's down to him wondering why and if he'd end up with Remi long-term, and he's extremely nitpicky about her. The "still as ugly as ever" line is what he greets her with, which kind of upsets her (though not enough to cause harm, as they're both used to each other, having known each other since highschool/college). Originally, he ended up in bed with her after a work party, and was shocked at her makeup-less face the next morning. He describes her face as ugly, moon-esque and complains internally about how small her eyes really are, but also praises her makeup talent, being properly amazed at her magic.

The two take potshots at each other, but really, he does love her, for all his complaints. He feels totally at ease with her, but also regrets the distance compared to before they slept together, where they'd talk about anything openly. But she understands him completely, digging deeper into the matter of his comments about Kaguya, about how he actually might have hade a crush on her. This entire scene in the novel shows how he's actually insecure and vulnerable, and that Remi is pretty much perfect for him. Not because they act like a normal, "chill" couple, but because they accept each other warts and all, and somehow have a deeper understanding of what the other might think and feel, even while knowing that neither is the ideal person they figured they would be with.

It's a really heartfelt scene that is both comedic and sentimental, so I'm actually disappointed they didn't go for a straighter adaptation instead. Nishioka comes across as a bit of a clown at times, others as a bit dickish, but this section really rounds off his character and shows what he truly is like, deep down, under the bluster.

On the topic of objectivity and opinionated pieces, there is room for both in academia, but it's a difficult task to balance both. Too much objectivity can lead to one's writing to seem mechanical and without personality, as if it were vomited from some automated process. That's easy enough to do, but it removes the expertise needed to find nuance within descriptions. However, making a piece too colorful makes it either too specific to certain perspectives, or it causes a definition to become too overburdened with prose that it becomes a personal piece, rather than something for general access.

Doing both requires doing research to make connections between different ideas, and give expert interpretations for ideas that may be loaded or complex. Thinking about it, dictionaries are written by people, so they should sound like they were written by people, rather than a machine. However, it's important to maintain a level of objectivity, as these works are relied upon by people searching for some standard method of communicating ideas. Interesting stuff.

miyoshi is such a little darling, she and nishioka have such a sweet & mature relationship. she also doesn’t get angry over dumb stuff (like when he calls another girl beautiful, she has close to zero reaction lol), she’s so understanding & cares for him in her own little ways. their scenes are always so tender & realistic. best girl ♡

Nishioka put that old bastard Oda in the rightful place the disgusting f**k. This is what urks me about the working life of Japan. Disgusting fu**tards get positions higher up indulging in bad (in his case seducing a high schooler or uni student through money and recognition presumably to get with him) and then proceed to make their subordinates life hell just for the sake of being high and mighty. They really think their gods out here. Every working place needs a Nishioka out there!
