If you click on the button below, means that you wanna know something about me. Thanks for that and enjoy the travel.
Many people don't talk about themselves around here, after all, it's just an anime site. Indeed, not everyone hopes more than standards when comes to the industry of anime, manga, LN and VN. But after see some stuffs, I'm became kind of obsessed with the idea of Masterpieces. Things that when I look well, cannot be seen less than perfect artworks, not because they are flawless, but for they greatness, profundity, originality and creativity.
If exists an entire universe of anime, manga and etc, there's have to be artworks we could call "life". So, I have to see all of them, to know if there's any signal of greatness. I'm a hunter of pleasure like anyone else. But what is a perfetc art form for me?
Levels of avaliation
10 - I take a little part of this and incorporate it into me.
9 - Great! I've seen and I would see it again without worry.
8 - It captivated my attention and interest. Congrats.
7 - I'm trying to find the way of greatness in it.
6 - It's just another simple artwork.
5 - It acchieved the level of "not bad" show.
4 - Just trash that I've found in my adventure.
3 - Shame on it. You're just occupying space in universe.
2 - It's making effort in being bad.
1 - Why does it exist? Some humans are just hopeless.
This is a system of evaluation that I take for almost everything in my life. Of course, I don't apply it to technic questions, but it's useful when I'm gonna describe a series story or characters. Anyway, continuiung.
What I'll say here is the truth for everything I've enjoyed, I'm enjoying and I'll enjoy in my entire life:
I life feel the things, like an warm touch from a beloved person. And when come to great masterpieces of perfection, they make me feel burning, not by the friendly fire but the erotic one. The excitement, the heat, the blood in high speed followed by a pinnacle of pleasure and spiritual peace, that's a well-suceed scape from my grey reality.
But the travel from this magnitude isn't somethinhg that would be accomplished by a shallow show. Why would I wanna swim in a children's pool? I want a profound stuff, no matter if it's dark like an abyss of dispair or a lightning proscenium of heatful acts. The only matters is how deep it is. But how define that kind of deepness? Let's think a little bit.
If you watch an anime about something that has the same point of start of inumerous shows until it, the same elements that we communly see and an end that we know, from the very first episode that would be like that, it would be a profound or shallow artpiece?
Obviously, it's something as shallow as it sounds like. ANd it's equally obviously that the content creators of anime, manga, LN and VN industry knows that very well, maybe even more than most people. This implies that they gonna always make an original, creative and unique artwork? Of course no. Not necessarily, for sure. If that was true, there wouldn't be so many manga, anime, etc. But it's a world of money, and as a capitalist person, I can understand. I also understant that they make a great effort on making up their shows to looks like something new, original, fun or whatever. I'm talking about some overvalued shows loved by "representative characters", "deep plot" and those stuff. Some people say that we see what we want to see about art. For me, that's not true. I don't wanna see disguised cliches and characters without charisma of deep and representative feelings about life, love, revenge, war, passion, betrayal, friendship, but I see them all the time! In different times, by different names.
We saw Saint Seiya, then Bleach, then Nanatsu no Taizai (yes, I'm telling names). All these made an enormous sucess, but the holofotes just helped me seeing the creative holes and the inevitable void that are inside them. A void generated by the idea of Rightness, the formula of sucess. Revolutionary or not, the art must look cativate the individuals. But never all of them will be satisfied. I don't blame any of those shows that I've mentioned for their weak story process, b ut for me it's a representation of the system of Rightful Sucess of Frankestein Method. Take the best about a lot of successful artworks, put them all together and open your pockets.
Deepness cannot be buyed and just as well originality can't be learned. It's a natural path taken by any great and legitim artist.
So it's that. This is what I am. What I expect of a masterpiece it's spontaneity, originality, creativity, profoundity, warmness and something to carry with me. I wanna be touched, deep and deeply by the heat of real greatness, that aren't imprisoned with fame, popularity or money. Art can be business, but my feelings are not for sale, so be aware. No matter what comes front of me, I'll not say any other thing that's not what I'm think.
Thanks for read until now. All that are my thoughts, so feel a 100% free to disagree or even message me anything about it. elow are more details about some stuff I like or not.
Evaluation Process
Story
When I think about story, I generally divide in two pieces:
History and Plot.
What's the difference for me? Well, let's make it simples with an example; Oyasumi Punpun doens't have focus on past of the characters world, names, places and t hose stuff that we generally see in Fantasia and Sci-Fi tales. But why I like it so much? Because of its plot. No matter how simples the premise or the world where the are insired, the plot can always save the show. Because I don't care if the protagonist is just a student of a vangeful swordsman, if they are well designed and developed, well, I have nothing to complain about.
Of course history is something great when we have it and adds a lot to the series, but even if we don't have it, we can think that the manga, anime, LN or VN it's a masterpiece of art anyway. Actually, I think this for everything, whether it be a book or a children's story. Plot is always greater than history and it's not a small difference. I can say, without regrets that plot is like 90%, at least, of the value of a narrative to me.
To be more specific, let's make an organized definition.
History: The premisa and the points of the narrative that are in the past of the actual timeline. That includes explanations, flashbacks, etc. It's generally used to base the happenings of the plot.
Plot: What is happeninhg. Everything from the point of start until the end, in a specific timeline is the plot. If something is bad or good to me, depends almost only on this.
Characters:
This is, by far, the most important aspect on the story. Seriously, there's only something happening if there's somebody. I mean, I'm not interested in see the uncounscious nature and its effects. But believe me, anything can be a character, because the only function of them is link you and the story.
How they do that? Simple, being realistic. For that happen, we don't need a story about farm or big cities, whatever. We can see realistic characters even in super futuristic environment with IA, space battles or fantasia worlds with magic powers, dragons and that stuff.
For being realistic, they have to rect like somebody in their situations would react, no matter in what situation they might be. So when I see a character killing a lot of people, I ask myself why he doing that. There's a lot of imaginable reasons (that would be cliche). If they do something original based on this killer character, it has more chance to look like a realistic person. Why? Because realistic people are unique and have, most of time, solid reasons to do what they do. It can sounds a little contradictory, but it's what I think.
But realism is not the only important attribute. There's also the Depth. This actually is almost intrinsic to Realism, because in reality, we have deep thoughts and the results of our experience of life, no matter the place, combine to make a complete personality that only WE have, almost like a soul.
When you cry be the death of a character it's because of its realistic way of do the things. It's almost as if it was a real person with soul, like us. That's what I want, no matter if is a studant, a vfangeful swordsman, a pirate, a prostitute or even a psychopath. I want realism and depht. That is it, move on.
Art:
Manga, Anime and VN are almost all based on art. LN it's exception, but has some pictures too. Let's stablish here a rule: I never judge a LN by its art. Nothing matters but its story. Let's analyse a little bit.
Originality in art is when you really are inclined to create something new (not completely new, this is impossible) but something that people look at and think "Uau, that's impressive, I think I've never seen a trait like this". Berserk for example. I can't say what's like that art. Berserk it's like Berserk, I only can say that.
In manga, art has to be original. This is a must. If some art is like "Oh, I've seen this before." it's really sad, because show that the creator is a lazy person. I can see when a mangaka is doing a lazy job. Hunter x Hunter for example has a great story, but the art sometimes it's like a joke, a bad one.
In animation, whether for anime or VN, I want, if they're adapting, something closest possible to the original, but if they can improve the art without change the trait, they must do it. It's always great when that's happen. But when they're making orignal work, well, they must look for something original, baceuse the same things always, it's kind of boring.
The animation, mainly in anime, has to be fluid. I mean, a studio proves its value by the effort put in a production. Somethihng like this in EVERY anime would be the ideal for me. But that way of thought it's conservative and that word ins't cool for me. So I ust wan they make me feels good through their effort and hard work in producing good animation.
But if some manga, original anime or VN has an amazing story, so well developed characters but a horrible art/animation. Fuck it, as I said, story (history and plot) and characters depht with realism are the most important things to me. It's like 80% of the rating I give for them. Of course, those 20% of good art and animation are great and enjoyable, and of course, sometimes Art is so good that makes me like the series much more I would do without it. But those are rare expections. In general, I care more about story and characters than other elements. Move on.
Enjoyment:
In the end, Why I watch anime and read manga? Because I wanna find masterpieces. And for what? To be happy. The joy of reading those are a unique experience. I'm just like any other human being. I enjoy good things and good is what I enjoy. I want to be a pro critif, but I'll never end up stop being a human with tastes and emotions.
That's how I make a mind panel of evaluation. I hope you have enjoy all this.
I'll watch all the animes I can from the season and make a top 10 based on my criteria of depth and originality. I'll put the shows I'vef watched compared to the number of releases.
