It was so hilarious seeing Maomao explain the Behaviour of a cat that they are irrestible and are indifferent and only when you give them food that they give you attention which so accurately describes Jinshi's infatuation with Maomao with the only difference being the food being poison XD.

I appreciated the fact that as a season premiere they didn't go out of their way to make it feel like a particularly standout or special episode in a way that felt too unnatural or disruptive of the flow of the series if someone was watching the whole series continuously with no long breaks in-between seasons and episodes, years from now after the multiple seasons had already come and gone and the series ended and finished airing. They did manage to show an assortment of scenes checking in with a nice variety of the main and recurring side characters and there was no new specific mystery case or big plot development, but that was how the first season developed too. I like how these episodes don't always have to fall and be locked into such a strict format, like one new case per episode or each episode must be entirely serious and intense or entirely goofy and comedic or anything like that. It's a nice blend so you never really know what to expect an the episodes seamlessly flow one into another.

The only thing I'm confused over is the line of dialogue by Maomao in the episode when she mentioned working as Jinshi's personal servant in the past tense. Does she not still occupy that role anymore? I know that toward the end of last season when they had the first indications to suspect Concubine Gyokuyou was pregnant that she was transferred back there to help out, but I thought that it was temporary. I don't know how old exactly Lingli is supposed to be right now and don't believe it was explicitly stated in the show, but I wonder if she's there permanently/indefinitely or supposed to remain until Lingli reaches a certain age, like at or past toddler age.

I also see that this season was apparently confirmed for 24 episodes like the last one. That will make the series a full 48 episodes when it's done and others who've read the novels said there are a large enough number of them for content yet to be lifted from that it could go on for multiple more seasons after that. I guess it makes sense if the novel series started in 2014, but some have a very slow or inconsistent release schedule so it's nice that there's so much material for this one. And also very nice and refreshing to have a longer running series again as a new anime. Considering the abundance of the 11 - 13 episode one cour trend. The same with Dungeon Meshi. I was pleasantly surprised when even a number of series starting back in 2023 (including this one, of course) had two cours for a change, but to go on to have another season confirmed immediately and look like it will have several in the long run means this will likely end up being one of the longer series I follow, I wish so many more that I enjoy were like that, and it's a perfect one to have spread out over time as it's just like the daily hijinks and goings-on of Maomao's palace life. This could be another 100 or few hundred episode series and I definitely wouldn't complain.
