For those who are confused, this is a part of the light novel.
The goddess sees all living beings as equal, and she doesn't like her miracles being used this way.
It's.. what most people would think, I don't know if she has compassion towards goblins, but she sure didn't like her miracles being used to inflict pain on others.
The blood ran down his arm, splattering against the ground in time with the shaman’s footsteps.
Impure.
It was nothing more than an intuition. There was no prompting from the Earth Mother in heaven.
No, it was simply the answer she arrived at out of her own experience, her experience as a weak sixteen-year-old girl adventuring with the man called Goblin Slayer.
Her answer to what she could do. What she should do.
“O Earth Mother, abounding in mercy, please, by your revered hand, cleanse us of our corruption!!”
And then a miracle happened.
“GORB?!”
By the time he noticed the change, it was too late. The goblin shaman’s blood had been turned to pure water.
“GOBOGGBOGOBOOGOGOBOGOOG?!?!?!”
The goblin shaman howled as if his insides were being shredded.
Priestess thought she felt her very soul rocked by the awful bellow, but it brought her
back to herself.
“Er—ah—ahh…?!”
Her connection to the world above vanished like a cut string, and the world of sound came rushing back into her ears.
This divine act, Purify, must never be used in this way again.
“Ah, ahh…?!”
Something seemed to impact upon her very soul, rattling every fiber of her being. She had done something awful.
The honored Earth Mother, the fount of all compassion and mercy, had accepted this connection with her soul, and she—
“Aaaaarrrrghhh…!”
Priestess let out an agonized scream at what she had done.
Impure.
It was nothing more than an intuition. There was no prompting from the Earth Mother in heaven.
No, it was simply the answer she arrived at out of her own experience, her experience as a weak sixteen-year-old girl adventuring with the man called Goblin Slayer.
Her answer to what she could do. What she should do.

| @Mimichunter Thank you for the explanation, I understood she did something that shouldn't have been done but the anime made it seem like Earth Mother was just fine with it at the end, so she got a serious warning about using spells that way. |
| Priestess has definitely had the most character development throughout the series. Starting as an inexperienced party member who gets rescued by the Goblin Slayer in the first episode to being a reliable ally who can usually turn the tide of battle with a well placed spell. Priestess certainly never loses her kind nature but she's also an example of silk hiding steel |

| The heroes are so overpowered; it's crazy how strong they are! I was confused about the Priestess's reaction after using Purification on that Shaman. If the intent was to purify the darkness within the Shaman, I don't understand why their blood would have turned into water, as I don't think blood itself would be considered corruption. And by the Goddess of Earth, of all things... I guess she was shocked for using a healing spell as an offensive spell? Perhaps the Goddess stopped the purification before it killed the goblin? But again, shouldn't a goddess of Earth be neutral, as nature is? Nonetheless, another enjoyable episode, and the wedding ceremony was so cute! |

| Are those three girls interested in goblin slaying? Things got a bit close for them there but they managed to turn things around thanks to priest girl. The wedding was nice. Congratz to them. Who got the flower though? Kinda like it how they didn't show it, would have been a hint as to which girl would end up with goblin slayer. Talking about him, he didn't even take off his armor for the wedding. Is he gonna wear that on his wedding too? |

| I just love how wholesome their interactions can be from time to time, especially in very tense moments to come! Goblin Slayer told the priestess that as if he knew it would happen lmao, but glad she remained calm and cold-headed this time. Gotta love this anime. |

So the Priestess suddenly cried after she successfully saved her friends and turned the tide of the battle singlehandedly because she used her priest miracle to almost kill the goblin? But she has been helping slaying so many goblins for a long time albeit indirectly, so weird. If I were her I would so proud of myself for saving my team from definite doom |

@EtherSword Yes, it is a bit inconsistent, but the idea is that the Purify spell is not meant to be used offensively.

I was a bit surprised that Goblin Slayer's team was almost taken down by a single shaman but Priestess saved the day, and High Elf looked great in her dress.

| @Alfredo-Sauce I guess we'll find out next episode who caught the headband bouquet lol They were overwhelmed, but Priestess was able to snap out of it and saved the day. She was the only female who didn't wear a party dress to celebrate the occasion, but it was a nice gesture of hers to offer the newlywed a prayer, and I think that reinstated her belief too. |

Are all goblins' blood impure? Or was this one special somehow? And I suppose Priestess cried because she used the most "pure" miracle she has for killing, while it's actually meant for healing and helping others. But Earth Mother doesn't seem to mind lol.
The elven language in this sounds really like Japanese but with the syllables switched around enough for it to be unintelligible.
Enjoyed this arc. The name of the next episode suggests that it will be a prequel arc, I guess they'll adapt the Year One LN/manga because there are characters from it in the OP.

| I don't know what to think of this anime anymore. Compared to the first season, its quality has decreased greatly, I feel that the story goes nowhere and has become too repetitive. I no longer feel the same emotion as when I saw the first part, there is no longer that vehemence and violence in the scenes, plus the new design and animation doesn't help at all, it looks like an isekai. |

This goblin shaman ended up not being killed by it (though presumably killed later along with the other mass of goblins when they were swept away and drowned in the rushing water), but at the time it looked like he was killed and he was definitely grievously physically harmed. Prior to this, she had never killed a goblin directly herself by means of a miracle or otherwise. Those miracles are not intended for that. |

| What a tough battle. Goblin shamans are foes not to be looked down on. The wedding party happening afterwards was a well deserved rest after such intense clash. But who caught the flower crown, I wonder? |

Apparently, no matter the creature, the Priestess' miracles need to be used in accordance to their main purpose, not on a caster's whim. Hence the Priestess always asks Mother Earth for support and lending her hand in casting miracles. | Elf girl was certainly raising a lot of red flags, but I'm glad nothing bad happened to her or the party in the end. Even if the priestess had to utilize her power in an improper manner. She saved her friends which is what matters. |

| I've posted before about the show being subtle and not shoving everything in the audience's face, and here we have another example. Just, think, people, Priestess was not sad because she killed the goblin, or because her magic caused harm to him. She cried because she knew her God would be disappointed. It doesn't need to tell us, doesn't need to show anything. She herself doubted if she was still worthy, and that can only mean that she did something Earth Mother would not approve. It is the first time she actually uses a miracle to kill something. |
