So I spent the last week or so enjoying this manga. As I recently finished chainsaw man and I honestly liked the ending.

In the story I noticed some interesting things that I'm probably over analyzing but others have mentioned as well.

First that luna/Judah and agni/san are sun and moon, yin and yang type characters. There's this idea of eternal pairing as both enemies and lovers. As siblings and as parent and child.

Second is how they mention lies. Characters constantly say they tell the truth or lie. It seems to me the author wants the reader to call explicit details into question. Like where humanity was before the era of the story was it simply hundreds of years or was it thousands. They mention current movies in one breath but then incredibly advanced technology in another. Agni is burning for 5 years but doma looks like 20 or more years have passed for him.

Finally Luna/judah may actually be the original luna. While they say humans of a certain look have a larger blessing. They really don't lay out exactly what that means. All the blessings shown indicate a near omnipotent being possessing abilities that can alter all but reality itself. This also means the ability to grant or remove blessings as seen in the second half. Original luna is such a person in any case. So when she says live. It may have inadvertently been a command that strengthened agni's regeneration. Everytime he seems near true death the command to live appears to revive him. She also may have known more than she lets on when she first asks him to make children with her. My later thought is that they weren't true siblings. Or possibly that. This family was largely of her own creation.

The story takes a different tone. If you consider humanity reached a near infinite peak. Thus they entered a point of stagnation and leave the planet. The idea of humans becoming evolved and seeking peace is no longer accurate. More like they ceased to be human and conflict no longer holds purpose. Then with Luna and San or some equivalent existence. They stay on earth and repopulate like Adam and Eve. Unable to fully unshackle themselves from their humanity. They live in this world continually as reincarnations of each other until the final end.

Or at least that's what I got out of it 🤣

That was crazy. I don't really know how I feel but I really enjoyed it. I was expecting like one last big fight at the very end but I'm fine with what we got. I'm really starting to like Fujimoto's works.

Damn, i can't believe i almost dropped this manga by chapter 10. I thought it was too edgy and meaningless, but i was wrong. I'm so glad i continued reading. Around chapter 15 is when it starts to pick up the pace.

I started reading fire punch cause of chainsawman. Though i like chainsawman a tad more, both are great same with The way the mangaka storytells and conveys its themes too. 👏Fujimoto Tatsuki👏

10/10 ending for me, I like how the author brought some of their earlyier ideas like San name referring to the sun way back in the beginning. The movie theater was also a nice touch. The people that probably didn’t like or get the ending probably hated the stories more philosophical last few arc and probably like the beginning better since it was much more straight forward.

Final chapter was something for sure. I can't say I have seen an ending quite like it, very nihilistic for sure, but wow. That is something.

I really liked this overall but I was more into the first half than the second, the second half felt a little rushed with the ending too. I wonder what's up with Fujimoto and endings lmao. Maybe I am missing something tho. This got confusing, like CSM ending too lol. But I liked Fire Punch.

Good story. Would read again, but would get a physical copy for a re-read. It is worth the money.

Gotta respect Fujimoto's love for movies and insanity too lol. What a great author.

I just finished it and i had to read more than 20 posts about it to simply understand Luna refers to moon and San to Sun. Both renamed with Judah taking care of Agni as the Moon is staying around Earth.

With the theory that develops the Moon came from earth itself refers to proximity between both characters.

best movie I've ever read :')

And I love that the ending of this manga divided so much, it reminds me the chapter of Chainsaw man where Makima and Denji are at the cinema and only them cried at movies considered stupid by the others, reading Fire Punch surely made me feel like that haha.

I loved that the ending was a mix between DevilMan and Interstellar endings.

Listening to Komm Susser Tod while reading this chapter made this conclusion a 10/10. I had some issues with some parts which will sadly damage my rating but if I had two things to praise, it will be the fantastic art and the bizarre conclusion which in my opinion, worked out nicely.

I can understand why this isn't ideal for some but knowing how confusing some prior chapters were, this isn't super unexpected by any means and for the type of series it is, I think this was a fair way to conclude and wrap up the narrative.

That was a pretty lackluster conclusion. I'm left not really knowing how to feel about Fire Punch. The first several chapters I thought were awful, too entrenched in the taboo darkness of the world without anything to connect to or make worth reading.

However once Togata gets introduced, it becomes one of the most fun series I've read, capturing more of the same fun insanity that Chainsaw Man could so readily deliver. They're easily the best character in the series, by a large margin. Not only are they the most fun, I feel their character moment is the only one that worked on a dramatic level, the scenes with Togata & Agni discussing the trans reveal I thought was handled mostly well.

The series never really recovered past Togata's death (and I still think how that came about with Doma's massacre was poorly written), I do think the stuff with the found family of girls afterward had some interesting bits to it, like the relationship with Tena, her line "Only you don't want you to be happy" is something of a profound statement I think, one I could relate to anyway.

But I'll be honest, Agni's sister complex never really worked for me on any dramatic level, and the series becomes wholly focused upon in the final volumes which made it a drag to go through. It does connect to one of the themes of lies becoming truths, that whole thematic thread of what determines who we are being the perception held of us, but it just never connected to me on any level. I guess it's nice they got to pay-off that incest note from the first chapter.

I'm left conflicted with a rating but I'll go with a 6/10. Fire Punch had some of the most fun & best things I've ever read like Suyla's Star Wars motivation but a lot of the other chapters would rank among the most unpleasant or dull I've ever read. Bounced back and forth between a 5 & a 6 but I went with a 6 because A. I generally prefer to lean towards the positive, & B. I sort of appreciate how all over the place it went. The series had balls, no one can deny that.

just finished reading this manga after ~6 hours and tbh not really how i feel about this, was a decent ending i guess. kinda feel like this manga started going downhill ever since like that fight with juda keep whatever, idk but just didn't really enjoy it as much after that... especially feel like the manga became less fun to read ever since that incident with doma and togata dying, in the end ill give it a 6 i guess. kind of disappointing/anticlimatic ending but it's whatever, still quite a nice read

Looking forward to anything Fujimoto Tatsuki does from now on, really impressed with his work overall as a comic creator (as in general, not just manga), his work just flows panel to panel and love how his stories can be told without going for hundreds of chapters.

Close to a 10/10 for me but i'd say a great 9 for me.

Damn, someone else finished Fire Punch today!

I agree, Fire Punch is definitely a really cinematic manga. The panelling was so good, you can really feel emotion even when there’s no dialogue. The story is quite unique too. Hats off to Fujimoto.

Lol yeah I finished that 8th volume just before leaving for work, story might not be perfect but damn it was entertaining and as someone with so much left to read and not enough time, I really appreciate the rhythm this manga has, really looking forward to continue Chainsaw Man which might be finished but it's on its 4th volume in the edition I'm currently buying, love it so far and that's why I went and bought all of Fire Punch since that was all available.

Somehow finished this in 2 days, wow. The art can be rough around the edges and imperfect (the girls are good tho, Agni's looks are lame), but I appreciate what the author was trying to do with this. I guess falling asleep means they were finally relieved of their "blessing" (more like a curse to me tbh) and died peacefully?

The ending wasn’t that disappointing. The entire story in all it’s nihilistic and defeatist undertones was hinting at an ending pretty much like this if not worse than how it turned out. At least Agni and Judah were happy at the very end of all of it, anyway

I loved it! It was such an insane and interesting story that I read through it all relatively quick, cause I was always interested in knowing what would happen next!

The end was completely crazy, but to be fair, about halfway through it I already imagined things would go to an unexpected route, and I was prepared for pretty much anything. It was like the beginning of the story was the hardest part to stomach as a way to filter out whoever expected something normal from it. I wasn't disappointed honestly... I really don't know how such a insane story could have ended in a more normal / cliche manner... I think it just wouldn't fit to it.

And it has so many subtleties that I wonder what is up to interpretation here.

At the end I was under the impression that maybe Agni suffered so much through his life because feeding people his flesh and having had a carnal relationship with his sister could have been seen as sins by the "gods".

And I believe Judah and Luna were not, in fact, the same person. But were from the same lineage, as well as the Ice Witch. And Agni, as Luna's brother, was probably the male counterpart of that race of ancient regenerative blessed.

I came from Chainsaw Man that I just read a week before! I'm super glad to have stumbled upon Tatsuki Fujimoto's works, I loved both these manga.

I never would've thought the manga would end like this. These last two chapters, damn. Two people suffering an eternity alone in space. So vastly different than the beginning chapters.

And I wonder why Agni didn't end up taking the pill? Or maybe he did and nothing happened? And so he ended up watching the fall of humanity?

Any who, I think I realized that -- of ALL the Blessed people -- Judah and Agni ... who eventually started going by Luna and San ... are the only Blessed people capable of being permanently regenerative, hence why Agni could remain on fire forever throughout this manga. These two lifeforms lived an eternity in space simply because they were the only Blessed humans who possessed regenerativity of such strength. Maybe we could call their Blessing "immortality"?

I'm not really even sure what is implied to have become of the original Luna who was Agni's sister. Did she really die as a child? And if so, why was Judah nearly identical to Luna? Was it a coincidence? And through this coincidence, Judah just happened to assume the role of Agni's sister overtime due to insanity?

This manga truly possesses anything and everything. Such vast themes crammed into just 83 chapters. Just like everyone else, I truly don't know what I just read.

I wonder if this is a conclusion I can be satisfied with.

This is too old for me to revive but

i don't think they're the only ones that have such regen in fact togata exploded his head off and didn't died, the reason he died to the flames it wasn't because he couldn't survive, but because he didn't have the will to do it, if you see on the chapter that agni gets burned alive regenerators seem to have a way to control how they regen, if it wasn't because luna said to agni to live, he would have died too, they can barely stop the regen so they get turned to ash and if he would get burned that way he could have died, that's probably what togata did to die.
you can see every time agni tries to die he gets this urge to survive, that's what makes agni alive most of the manga.

in regards to the ending when they say they finally sleep, i don't think they are alive, because regenerators don't need to sleep, at least agni and judah doesn't, so when the manga says that they finally could sleep,
i suppose it means that after finding each other they finally complete the reason why they could be alive all those years, and finally stop living together, after everything else in the universe they finally die.

That's an incredible interpretation, and never once did I even remotely consider this to be a possibility. With that interpretation, yeah, I think I have a new outlook on the story. That would add a LOT more closure.

I don't remember this being explicit in the story, but I'm a dense person and could have missed any obvious implication that the "will to live" or having a "reason to live" could keep a regenerative Blessed alive. So, of all the regenerative people, Agni simply had the strongest vengeance out of all of them. Because of what Luna told him before she died. And thus he managed to live the longest.
Togata, who could also regenerate, simply didn't have as much of a will to survive I guess. (Which is evident in her demeanor throughout the story. Not ever caring about anything. Always being lackadaiscial.)

So Agni just indefinitely remained alive because -- even though the world reverted to normal and Agni could live a peaceful life, Judah (or, in his eyes, Luna) wasn't even present. Which wouldn't satiate his power.
Agni could only feel at true peace (and thus die) after encountering Judah in space millions of years later.

After considering what you've said, I'd find it hard to believe that what you said isn't what the mangaka was going for. I mean, with your explanation, there are truly no loose ends. Your IQ is just too high lol, thank you.

Thanks for the compliments, honestly i felt really fulfilled on the ending of the manga, even tho most people disliked it, for me just made sense that after all that even when they couldn't remember why the purpose of their lives, the only thing they had was a feeling that they should live, for a reason.

What a pessimistic ending. To me, it seems that the author views emotions such as guilt, anger, and resentment to be so strong that they can take hold of your entire being. That they can grow so intense, that people can no longer escape them. Even if their memories disappear, they move based on these emotions because that is all they know despite the havoc that is caused as a result to both themselves and those around them. I think this manga had a rough start, but it became unique and interesting during the movie arc, and landed a powerful final arc that explored the theme I described. Overall, really good stuff.

For the hype of being a top "revenge" story and claimed as one of the best manga to not be adapted into an anime, this was surprisingly disappointing in the end and ultimately legitimately wrong in popularity of legitimately being great, which it isn't.

It's abstract for being very unique in its own unpredictable methods, but it's a little childish in some regard, while losing a meaning to it all in the end with its finale.

The themes and conflict of essentially not having any "true" villain, but mad ignorant people each with their own delusions is great, with how complex it is through religion and a false common sense, from; believing an ice queen is who cursed them in an ice age, and that the gifted are entitled by the fire god.
To the point of believing they can control anything with slavery, rape, etc.

When in reality none of those figures exist, and the earth is simply getting colder, and everyone in the past was born gifted with all the powers, which felt natural, and were nonchalant about its use.
... That's great. The drive of being movie fanatics from Togata and Surya with each of their own goal is odd yet interesting, even though it's dumb.

The original earthlings of the past who all resemble each other in complete peace who escaped in another planet is cool, but never explained why or how they resemble each other as clones.
... The ultimate romance in the finale is completely dumb though.

Somewhow, Agni only twice in his life loses his consciousness to rage to kill for Luna...
His love is idiotic though because he truly doesn't love her, but anyone who could look and sound like her.

Basically, Agni and Judah loving each other as Luna is false,
because he doesn't love her, he loved Luna... and Judah fell in love with him regardless, even continued to love him after regaining her memories... which never felt legitimate since he's only using her as a replacement for Luna.
So, when both meet again while not being the same or remembering clearly who or what they are ... it's fucking dumb.

Aside from that, his meaning to live throughout the story never felt solid.
Although, the rest, like his complicated identity and how the other characters developed, living or dying, deluded or not was great.
Doma, San, Togata, etc. were good characters. The message portal through movies may feel immature along with Togata's ridiculous forced attitude to cope from her issues, but it's an interesting way to narrate the message to not judge an actor by his roles in Agni the protagonist.

Entertaining and enjoyable in a way, but not great or perfect even though it has its charms.
The ending hinders it, I feel. Somewhat odd incest in the beginning and overall to his love and Luna's for each other, but the journey isn't excellent and the romance unfortunately becomes stupid in the end. 5/10.

reading fujimoto earlier works, you can really tell he is a big film buff, esp with this manga. a very wacky, interesting story. not as good and tight as csm but still an enjoyable read. some parts and dialogue felt very awkward and weird and tbh besides maybe judah, i didnt really have any attatchment to any of the characters. maybe im misinterpreting it, but i love how the ending implies that the whole thing was just one big movie that the real judah and agni were just watching in real life. solid 8/10. stayted up to like 5 am reading this shit. fun times

What is up with good manga completely changing the tone of the story halfway through only to end up in this sort of evangelion ending?

The last 2 or 3 chapters really felt rushed.

It was a good read but idk.. the story just wasnt as good anymore after Togata was gone.

Damn that was such an insane ride
The story was very messy at times but it still was good, I had goosebumps at the end
