I really loved this episode. Really showed some real tension and gave really good vibes with the potential on how to evolve. Loved the way the eyes are drawn when they watching like a hawk. Fight was really intense and well done.

The fight scene between Hinata and Kageyama felt so smooth there.

The scene where Hinata was standing on top of the tree was pretty badass as well.

Can't wait for the next episode.

The drama was strong.
Wasn't expecting hinata and kageyama to start fighting each other like that. :(
Episode felt slow. Not as much comedy either, or really any tbh.

man, that was so much more intense than when I read it in the manga.

also @ the people who seem to think that Takeda might be the Little Giant, Takeda is 29, which is older than Ukai, and much older than Saeko (who is the same age/went to school with the Little Giant)

can't wait for the week long training camp to commence, but first Hinata and Kageyama have gotta do a little soul searching.
BUT BRING ON 3RD GYM!!

I almost cried when Hinata said that Kageyama always felt like a partner than friend to him. Dammit just confess your bro-love for each other already!

If this relationship evolves further then they really might become unstoppable as Ukai said. Its gonna be badass, man

The falling out between Hinata and Kageyama was executed very well. Likewise with a lot of fellow manga readers, the fight felt much more gut-wrenching in the anime. The seiyuus did a great job at getting their respective character's frustrations across.

i haven't watched a scene so emotional since hatoko scene in inou-battle back in fall 2014 (basically a year lel).

it came as a bit of a shock to be honest. the argument was very confronting... im surprised kageyama didn't knock some sense into hinata. i respect him for not doing it though, he could've easily had a couple swings since hinata came at him so aggressive.

the selfishness (or not) of hinata is interesting to discuss though. does hinata want to improve so he can help the team out or is this all just because he's selfishly addicted to 'seeing over the net'/wanting to be the ace/wanting to win?
hmmmmmmm....

I think it was more because of the fact that the prelims are just around the corner. It wasn't just Kageyama who thought so, but everyone else (except for Nekoma's coach, I think) thought it was impossible for Hinata to try something new within the short span of time, because they already have weaknesses in their game as is.

As for us, we know it's a shounen sports series so we should readily accept an overreacting Kageyama.

I for one, won't forgive either of them, for doing what they did, particularly Hinata in front of Yachi and even make her cry. He better start scoring some points with his eyes open. =_="

Wow, Hinata managed to really annoy me this episode. If there is one thing I absolutely can't stand in sports it's players who decide not to play within themselves. The get the slightest taste of what's just beyond them and think that should be their norm. It does nothing, but screw the entire team over during their immediate future.

It's nice that Hinata wants to evolve but he need to time it better and think about the rest. He is way too self centred when it comes to volleyball.

So many mixed feelings coming out of that. The episode was great, but I'm so torn apart as to what to actually think and what to side with.

Hinata is probably right in this situation, if someone can block him as people continue to say they can and actually end up doing, he needs to change something. At the same time I feel pretty bad for Kageyama. It puts the whole team is a bad position, and Kageyama probably feels shitty because Hinata was the first person who could hit his tosses and now Hinata wants to change that...

Still Kageyama needed a reality check, if the pass isn't working they NEED to do something new.

Pretty emotional episode over all, my own opinions on it are still screwed even after writing this, I THOUGHT RANTING WAS MEANT TO HELP!!

Most memorable moment: That scene in the trees with Hinata and Kageyama was hype.

Bravo animators and voice actors for that amazingly intense scene, really impressive

I get why Hinata's desperate, if the freak quick doesn't work he's done for, their opponents will only get stronger.

Amazing episode, really feeling the tension. Hinata knows he isn't good enough himself and wants to improve and other players aren't letting him. I feel for him. No doubt it will eventually happen though as he is the main character.

But still, a few very well done scenes here. My friend pointed out "i'm not gonna move until you give me a toss" and now i can't stop laughing (I'm from england)

All in all another amazing episode and will once again be looking forward to next week. This show is too good.

That was really emotional, seeing Hinata and Kageyama fight and Yachi crying.

I get both of them. The coach will make him train this quick with his eyes opened, i believe.

I really, really like Lev, he's willing to learn and he does that very well. Also he's a nice person.

Same. He's just coming off as selfish rather than keeping a team mentality which is what Kageyama is doing. Just has to cool off or he'll just hinder the team like in that practice match.

The most intense episode so far. I had to watch that fight scene more than twice. I'm with Hinata to push himself beyond his current boundary. If he keeps doing the same thing with Kageyama (i.e. the super quick attach thing), they're never gonna progress. As athletes, they should be pushing themselves away from their comfort zone. Like Nekoma's coach keeps saying about evolving and what not. They need CHANGE! It's frustrating that Kageyama doesn't want to accept that from Hinata. Looking forward to the rest of the season! ><

It's not exactly that Kageyama doesn't want Hinata to change; he doesn't want Hinata to change the freak quick and would rather Hinata use his time to try to improve on other aspects of his game such as his fundamentals. He doesn't want to change the freak quick from something that isn't broken to something that might not even work (as he noted that Hinata gets distracted too much by the ball when they try that absurdly quick set). Keep in mind that the Spring High tournament is just around the corner and Kageyama was thinking more along the scope of the team. A drastic change like that done impulsively in such a short time span can honestly be severely detrimental to a team.

From Hinata's perspective, it makes a lot of sense that he wants to have more control in performing the freak quick. He feels responsible too for whenever it fails and it's a reasonable feeling to want to get better. But from Kageyama's perspective, Hinata is still very subpar with his fundamentals and could focus on improving those with the remaining time until the Spring High instead of "fixing" something that is absurdly difficult to improve on in that short time span (remember that Kageyama is the key to the engine of the freak quick and having Hinata not cooperate would make them lose that weapon in their arsenal).

Kageyama is thinking about the immediate future. Hinata is thinking about internal improvement in regards to a very difficult technique that may or may not pay off and if it doesn't work out, then it ends up being detrimental to the team. They both have a reasonable perspective to their side of the argument; it pretty much depends on who you agree with more in regards to the current situation.

Hinata's right here. His quick keeps getting stopped and it's basically the only thing that Karasuno shines with so if it doesn't work they're nothing special. Instead of stopping him to evolve they should concentrate on how they get stronger because before Hinata Kageyama came Karasuno didn't win a single set,so if even the quick doesn't work they're done for.

I think Hinata intentions were right and Kageyama reacted poorly. Taking a risk and losing is better than changing nothing and losing. At least with the risk it shows you are trying to improve. Karasuno was losing those practice matches and their tricks were becoming easier to read as time goes on.

And really... Hinata's biggest contribution to the team is him doing those special spikes and being unpredictable. Sure his fundamentals need work but there was a flaw in his area of strength. The way it is there is no point to him being on the court without his gimmick.

It's even worst because Hinata viewed Kageyama as an equal partner who would at least understand where he's coming from, but he didn't understand him at all. Kageyama still views Hinata as a tool that only works when he is in control. He thinks Hinata is being selfish but Hinata is only trying to improve his strengths.

This episode finishes off the practice matches in Tokyo. By the end of the episode, there ended up being a lot of tension for Karasuno's team. Hinata is coming to the realization that his strange quick attacks aren't always going to work and that he needs to become stronger, but making this declaration during the middle of a practice match wasn't the best idea. It also didn't help that he suddenly tried taking a quick away from the ace. You can feel the tension between the team members during the rest of the practice matches.

But it all comes to a head when they return home, and Hinata and Kageyama have a major fight. At this point, it looks like there's a major crack for this power duo. But, like Daichi points out, they've fought in the past and managed to work things out. I expect this will end up being resolved as well, but I think it's going to be a driving force for at least one episode, if not more. But I expect that this will end up being a growing experience for both Hinata and Kageyama.

The animation and face expressions were so amazing during the argument/fight scene, I'm sad that I missed a lot of it reading the subtitles down below :( I rewatched it though.

Hinata's development and evolution has gotten me super interested to see how strong he'll be once he learns to hit the quick attack with his eyes open.

And Yachi almost dropping the water bottle in the background was adorable.
