Man, I love Spikes not-caring attitude.

It's also really weird to see them pull off a bounty-capture with ease and no explosions or death for once.

Sad ending to this episode, though.

Damn, he seemed like a nice guy. Its usually Spike being playful with other people, but this dude managed to reverse the role a bit and be annoying/playful with spike while spike was the grumpy/angry one. I knew he was going to die the moment he was showing off to spike that he flipped the dude using spikes fighting technique. If nothing else he was simply standing as a stationary sitting duck when all these fuckers were trying to gun him down ..

Feel bad for his sister. Her mood completely changed when she learned he died.

This episode essentially reflects on reality's most irritating yet truthful concept, the idea of sacrificing something in order to obtain something better than the norm. Roco tossed away his uneventful and peaceful lives all for the sake of quick cash for his sister, while large in sum, can never amount to his greatest sacrifice: his own life. Ironically, his big wish to see his own sister recovered of her sight was unfulfilled, despite finally having the money to cure her of so. Emotionally touching episode: 5/5.
(Also great to see notches of comedy here and there, such as the helium voice change and the gay 'sensual' scene caught in broad daylight. Maybe not so broad after all.)
"If you reject me, I'll blast a hole in you!" Kanzaki H. Aria
Just kidding.

Still my favorite episode by far. To me it had the perfect combination of comedy, action and tragedy. I like how in particular this episode showed a more sentimental side to Spike.

I tear up every time Rocco is there on the ground, dying, asking himself if he and Spike could have been friends if only they met earlier in life. And they probably would have. Which makes it all the more heartbreaking.

It's episodes like these that cement Cowboy Bebop as something that is in a league of its own.

Amazing episode!!

Man they really modeled Bruce Lee's techniques to Spike eh?

Be Water my Friend :P

Finally Spike and Faye got paid!!! At least Jet is gonna feed Ein some good food now!!

Rocco was cool. At first he's kinda like one of those bad guys getting into trouble. Didn't like he cling to Spike too much, but it's revealed he didn't have much friends and it would have been better if he met Spike early on. He wouldn't have been in this situation in the first place.

And wow i thought Rocco was voiced by Nakai Kazuya, but was voiced by someone else :O

He really sounded like Nakai-san. Especially i keep hearing Mugen and Hijikata's voice on it :P

And i instantly knew Stella is voiced by Maaya Sakomoto!! Her voice is just as recognizable as today :)

Tragic end, but this is what happens when dealing with mafia or gang related activities.

Good stuff! Can't wait for the next episode!!

So that's how Spike fights, gotta keep yourself calm and relaxed. Too bad that guy died, I thought he was starting to get the hang of Spike's style.

First, regarding Spike's fighting style I seem to recall that it was based on Jeet Kune Do, which in turn was founded by the film icon Bruce Lee. With that in mind I can't help but think that Spike's comments about being like water is based on this:

As for the music box, I know I'm pushing it here but that final line of the melody reminded me of 'Dream a little dream of me':

Great episode! I wish all of the episodes were like this. This and episode 5 are the best so far.

Spike talking about water must've been a reference to Bruce Lee and his speech and being like water. It was very obvious.

I didn't expect to see gay guys having sex. lol

Very touching episode with the Roco and Stella. At least Stella will get ehr sight back at least. Silver linings, you know.

Lmao at Faye walking in on those two guys 😂
Rocco's sister's voice acting took me out of the show at times, but it was still a pretty sad episode :( Idk if the episodes are getting better or if this show is growing on me, but either way, I've been really enjoying this show :)

Great episode. Im glad Jet's caring for the dog buying him good food haha. This ep definitely had a Samurai Champloo-ish feel (same directors) with each ep being a mostly isolated story and an interesting new character gained, and then lost (like Jin and that prostitute, or how someone said it reminded them of Fuu and the pickpocket- who this guy kinda looked like haha), while the story slowly and secretly encroaches to the past of each character catching up with them.

This time more than the OST, what convinces more, are the dialogues; nothing bad jokes effect. Pleasant as usual narration, however, the soundtrack, leaves no one indifferent. The characters are outlined even better.

wtf? a gay-scene 18 years ago? Can't say I expected that oO

aww nooooo -.- Why did Roco die... It was obvious but I still hoped he'd get away. That was way too sad D:

The funniest part about that scene is, if you watch the censored-for-TV-Adult-Swim version, they edited out the guy on the bottom and replaced him with a pillow. But they left in his audio, so you hear a disembodied "aaauuuugghhh!" at the end of the scene. :D

It was funny when Faye burst in on the gay couple doing it lol.

Wanting to sell the plant to help his sister get his eye sight back was sweet but ultimately it led to his death, that's sad for him and her. Like she said she never got to see him.

It was nice for Spike to be so sweet to her and visit her in the hospital. He's so nice. After selling those seeds to pay for her operation!

It was also funny on the plane when he was pretending to be asleep lol.

Also, I'm glad Faye treated the gay guys with respect and not as a joke or something weird.
