The title of your post even had (rant) in the title lol. These threads don't encourage an open discussion and end up with people just commenting on the posters ideas. There are better means of getting help about your situation.

What I'm missing in anime is that feeling where you can't just stop watching some show and after each episode, you just need to watch one more till you finish whole series in one sitting. This feeling is something I can't seems to find in anime anymore so it usually takes me a long time to even finish one series since nowadays I usually watch 1-3 episodes per day and that's it. In the past, I was able to finish one series per day.

Do you plan to buy a new laptop ? The whole PC industry is pretty bad since covid as there is shortage of all kind of parts like PSU's, graphic cards, CPU's, SSD's and its getting worse each month. At this rate, it will be almost impossible to even buy a PC in my country which really sucks. Not to mention that the prices are insane for computer parts.

I have not seen Steins;Gate anime since it aired in 2011 I think but I read Steins;Gate Elite VN which is basically VN with animated scenes from S;G anime but it has some additional content which wasn't in anime so that was a bit better experience compared to rewatching the anime. I think it was around 40 hours long. And recently I watched Steins;Gate 0 after playing S;G 0 VN and while the anime was great, the VN was a lot better.

I have not read FSN or Tsukihime VN but I'm quite interested in them.

So far I have rewatched Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari and Nekomonogatari, all of them were as good as I remembered them and I also watched Kizumonogatari for the first time and so far it's my favourite installment in whole franchise. All 3 movies were fantastic.

I sorry to hear that you lost your job, that really sucks :( A lot of people in my country lost their jobs due to covid and the situation is really dire too here. I hope you will manage to find a new job soon. I don't think that you can't get a good job without going to university to be honest. I'm not sure what the situation is in your country but at least in my country, you can find a good job even if you finished only high school and didn't go to university. It has been my case as well since I started working right after I finished high school because I needed money to pay a bills.

My country actually was in the same position as Malaysia. There were heavy fines and violence from police againts those that didn't wear a face mask outside (even if they were alone) which just didn't make a sense and people were furious, there were unrest everywhere and it was really bad. Our politicians are corrupted to the core and they are using covid only to make more money and to destroy small businessess so the big corporations become a monopoly. They closed down every single shop in my country for 8 over a year but supermarkets and other big corporations were allowed to operate even during the lockdown so the majority of those small businesses went bankrupt and people lost their jobs.

I agree that a lot of older shows really has a value even nowadays and people should try more to appreciate them and not just watch the latest anime and ignore everything that's a bit older.

There was a time when I also deleted all my anime rates because it started to be a pain to rate everything. There were always some series where I wasn't satisfied with my rating and I was comparing them to other similary rated shows and couldn't decide what rate to give to it. But in the end, I used my backup animelist to get all those deleted rates back because without those rates, I lost a lot of statistics where the rates are essential like malgraph. I made a new rating system and it has been working very well since then and it has proven to be really accurate because the rates I get from it are very close to the rate I would give it based on my own enjoyment.

I got one question though. Wouldn't it be better to not rate anything in the first place instead of giving everything 10 ? I know a lot of people that just can't be bothered to rate anime and are simply watching anime without having to think about rates. I think that works as well. I for example don't rate manga at all for the same reason. I only care about anime rates for my own personal statistics that I use to look for a new anime to watch.

Having to get rid of water in your houses and clean after all that dirt that gets inside with it must be really bad experience. Not to mention that it probably can damage a house as well right ? Well I hope everything is fine now.

You shouldn't beat yourself up. Everyone deserves to be happy. It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Though being single does indeed have it's merits. You can focus more on yourself and not have someone else eat up all your time or upset you or accuse you of anything. The truth is most people who get into relationships get hurt pretty badly in all sorts of ways.

Yeah, while anime is still fun, it's too much of passive hobby if you know what I mean. I found out that playing JRPGs is a good combination of quality anime-like story with a good gameplay so I have been mostly playing those. And also a lot of visual novels which also are much more complete than their anime adaptations since you got a lot of routes and choices compared to anime. I read 4 Steins;Gate visual novels and they are just so much better compared to Steins;Gate anime (and I consider S;G anime to be a masterpiece). So yeah, while I still watch anime to some extent, I branch out a lot more nowadays in terms of games, VN, LN or webnovels and I focus more on the source materials than anime adaptations of them.

But I'm sure there are tons of great anime I have not seen yet, especially those newer series that came out in last 5 or so years that I have not been watching anime. That's why I decided to start watching a bit more this year. As for rewatching, I decided to rewatch whole Monogatari franchise because I was missing a few series and movies. And I'm also rewatching Initial D as one of my all time favourites.

I spent last 9 or so months working from home so that was great and I had so much more free time since I didn't have to commute to my office but since last week I have to visit my office at least once per week and in the summer, I will have to work from office every day so that will be annyoing with all those restrictions, testing, face masks etc.

My country had a very long lockdown (around 4 months) but it has been slowly returning to normal last month. I just hope there wont be another new wave and mutations because those really sucks. India has been having it tough lately from what I have seen so if there are a lot of people from there returning to your country, that is pretty bad situation and can be very dangerous :(

The main reason I use anidb is for file and storage management because I add every single file to anidb so I can easily check from what fansub I have each anime and in what quality, if it's blu-ray, DVD etc.. which is fantastic feature. You can also easily see if there is newer release in higher quality compared to the one you have. But I agree that there are also a lot of other features like the character database, fansub database and many more... Too bad there is quite a small community on anidb compared to MAL because everything over there is much more complex to manage. MAL is very user friendly and easy to use so it is much more popular.

I really need to write to Akai... It was always fun talking about anime and other stuff with him and my anime compatibility with him is the highest I have ever seen haha.

No worries, floods are really bad. I hope everything is fine and you weren't hit that badly... When I see people's houses destroyed and losing everything to a flood, that's a horrible feeling. I live quite a near to the river too and there has been some floods in the past so it's something I'm always worried about.
