| This episode was absolutely atrocious. And not the choice of killing off the character or anything too much plot-wise; plot-wise, I'm totally fine with Manato dying. It was obvious from episode 1 that he wasn't going to be sticking around for very long, anyway. The "I was wrong" before the battle was so cheesy. All the stupid freeze frames literally made me groan as I was watching. Just...terrible. |

Just when Shihoru started to open herself more to him. Manato didn't mention Haruhiro cause Haruhiro is leader Type & he didn't want to mention this right new (he probably thought it will cause issues for one cause currently hes not so confident enough to lead, but he so potential in him about leading, but new he mite be forced to find the confidence in himself if other put him in the spotlight), before he died he said u must but the final word that didn't come out was Lead, he was about to say u must lead |

| this was the best episode so far. as soon as i heard "or so i thought" i was like "dam. he is a goner :(". how brave he was though,hiding it so the others can escape and not be hit too. wonderful guy to the end :'( I was annoyed with how they treated the priest though. not only did he not do anything wrong,he was a really good guy,offering to pay for the cremation if they couldnt. he didnt deserve the way he was treated and so the 6 become 5. what a sad result :'(. |

| Staff nailed the feeling of grief at the end. Retrospectively, the last episode kinda gave the hint, but Manatos death came really sudden. Just shows that it can strike at any given time. Wonder how the tone is gonna shift from here. I mean, it was melancholic, but guess now it becomes downright bleak. Leader, priest and a good chunk of money are gone ;_; |

 In most cases, the MAL Average Scores don't mean anything, here is a question: were the works made before 2000 all shit? Why are they so damn scarce in the Top 50? Think about how MAL is quite literally a filtered amount of the Anime fanbase. Here's a timeline of the Top 15 in which you can check that, almost always, the scores are affected by the freshness, popularity and other factors that have nothing to do with quality. |
| Since they were the weakest "RPG party" i have seen so far, it was a surprise that some of they was not killed before when they was not match to one single goblin. Honestly in the 1st couple eps i thought they would find the same fate of that party in the Goblin Slayer anime 1st episode. I liked the grief, it is signal of how the character who passed away was important to them. I really hate histories where important friends dies and the others dont feel nothing. But im not gonna lie, the episodes until here was SO BORING, like a Konosuba Slice of Life without comedy, that Manato's death was the best thing to this series (im watching episode 9 by now) |

| Was not expecting them to have the guts to do something like this, I love it. First three episodes had my curiosity, now it has my attention. Hopefully the remaining episodes build up upon this one, rather than this single episode just being used for shock value. I'm expecting great things here |

| quite a lot of useless chatter in the first half, the only important part being they learned skills. several minutes explaining things we already knew. literally just banter. i didn't have any problems with manato but i really didn't feel the impact here as much as i think i could have. still not a bad episode. |

| Well they were raising deathflags all over the place. It hurt a bit when he passed away... and then Shihoru started crying. Her VA did an incredible job with those brokenhearted sobs. Adventuring is dangerous, especially if your in a new group like these guys. With these predicaments it's not gonna be a fun journey with everyone walking on sunshine, it's gonna be depressing, tough and gonna have horrible stuff happen like this. It's more realistic for me and I love how it's being handled so far. I mean yeah, some good fortune to come their way would be nice but it's not gonna be easy. |

| @Softhenic03 I always felt weird about Manato.. I tought he was a traitor or smthg fishy was going on with him... I guess he was just a normal dude who really meant every word he said... Man he could save himself a little bit at least... ( idk magic ) but damn.. It's only episode 4 so it's isnt that hurtful for us watchers... but hurtful for them. Always painful to see a chief and brother die. |

| There it is. If you didn't pick up any of the omens in the previous episode (or watch the preview), then there were even more in this one. Liked some of the hysteric denial that Haruhiro went through after being informed that Manato was already dead, as his VA did a good job of representing his distress. I suspect the party still subconsciously, unknowingly sees their experiences in this world as a game, so to hear that one of theirs was truly gone must have shattered that comfort. Unfortunately, all that was cheapened with a montage of still shots and dragged out scenes with yet another insert played over it, as if to beat you over the head with how tragic everything is, when no music whatsoever would actually be more effective at naturally conveying the gravity of Manato's loss. Then again, the lightning fast pace after Manato got shot, and his general lack of characterisation beyond being nice also dulled much of the emotional value his death would've had if he had died later on. I spent more time questioning why he didn't immediately heal himself once they were out of the crossbowers line of sight than I did anything else. Was the bolt poisoned? Also, Yume has some sexy thighs. Thought I should mention that. |
