Ushio death was really the saddest thing I've ever seen, even more than Nagisa death. It's the way she tried to keep going. The way she wanted to show her dad that she was strong, that she could make it as her force was leaving her. The way Tomoya tried to confort her while she was dying. Someone please hug me :'(

For the ending, I don't think I understood what's going on, did he go back in time, can he redo is choice of meeting Nagisa? I hope not, but well, one episode to go, I really hope for an happy end, even though I don't see how it could happen now...

Didn't really like this episode, doing that to Ushio felt unnecessary and forced, just to make viewers cry or whatever. Did nothing for me other than feel disappointment.

^This. I actually didn't cry when Nagisa died, but Ushio's did it for me. Don't ask me, I don't know myself.

When we first introduced to Tomoya, he wanted a change of his life. As the story progress, his world did change. But this change affected his surroundings too, even to the point of killing his lover and daughter. In the end, he wished he didn't meet Nagisa and encourage her so as to not even feel sadness and despair over losing someone, he doesn't wish those changes happened in the past.

Give this guy a break, whatever he chooses (change or no change), he doesn't even get a happy ending (with Nagisa I presume, 'dunno about the others).

I felt like I was being manipulated, but just the same, my heart broke again and I shred tears.
So it ends with Tomoya meeting Nagisa for the first time and deciding if he wants to have a relationship with her. "It would have been better if we had not met at all" is the usual thought after suffering such a devastating loss, it feels like a form of denial or trying to separate one's self from the pain.
"Nothing ever happens in this town."
I think that this episode was about change, and of course it is a constant in this world, but does it have to be so goddamn painful sometimes? My heart goes out to Tomoya. I hope that he doesn't give in to despair and becomes like his father.

Goddammit, if Ushio is dead, I'm rage quitting this anime (and picking it up about an hour later). They seriously cannot kill her off. I thought this would be moderately happy ending but it can't be happy if everyone dies.
Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!

After watching them bond I feel like this episode was kind of a slap in the face. I was really emotionally invested in the father-daughter bond thing going on and I'm sad it came to a (kind of) abrupt end.

Also, gotta say that I wasn't as emotional about Ushio's death as I was about Nagisa's. This episode was meant to be a tearjerker but... Episode 18 still takes the trophy.

I feel so bad for Tomoya, hoping for a (somewhat) happy ending but I don't know how that's possible after losing your wife and daughter.

i think i know what's going to happen next :o but honestly tomoya that was a pretty dumb move... ushio was sick with a potentially fatal illness and he took her outside in the snow. um, what? plus that's exactly how nagisa got sick when she was 5... not smart, tomoya

Cruel. This was a cruel episode.

Tomoya has some real bad mojo throughout life. This episode and episode 16 are the epitome of the worst nightmares in life.

All thoughout this series, that parallel story about the girl in the 'world that has ended' keeps progressing as it intertwines with the main story. I keep thinking there is some significant tie between these two worlds. The possibility of a mystical theme seems likely. But what will Tomoya do now? Or has reality divided by zero?

This was the first episode in the series where I shed a couple tears and also the first anime to make me do so. I had a feeling that she'd die but didn't want it to happen. When Tomoya said he'd fulfill her wish I was thinking to myself it might be her last wish and unfortunately I was right :(

Same here. In any case, no father should ever have to watch his daughter die, especially when he's holding her right in his arms T__T

This ED really sucks and does not fit the story at all. They should have kept old ED through both seasons. Also Ushio dying is probably the worst thing that has happened in this entire series. I think this twist was just unneeded drama definitely ticks me off.

I didn't cry when Ushio died as much as Nagisa did, but this still makes me weep like a child. It's amazing how 2D characters here manage to make me cry even if I barely shed any tears when I visit someone's funeral. I'm weird.

I wonder how they'll end this. Maybe Nagisa and/or Ushio will magically live again like what happened to a certain girl in KnK.

Biggest moment of this series and didn't cry.

I was spoiled Nagisa's death and still managed to cry,I was spoiled Ushio's death and nothing.

Maybe the scene went by too fast or it was too sudden, also a part of me finds it stupid how Tomoyo took her out despite her being very sick, putting her life in more danger than it already was.

I get he wanted to fulfill her wish but it wasn't worth the risk.

It was predictable and nowhere near as sad when Nagisa died. That was a tearjerker, that made you go my god what have they done. This one didn't move me really like Naigsa's death which was unexpected and really emotional. This one was stupid and if you ask me unneeded. The fact she's very ill to begin with and he drags her outside in the winter just because she wants to go on a trip is asinine for a parent to do to begin with.

But I do feel remorse for Tomoya. Life keeps crushing one bit of joy and happiness of his for no rhyme or reason. I am hoping for a happy ending cause this one has been a ball breaker the entire way through something good has to happen right?
In the end, both Tomoya and Ushio knew that she didn't have any time left. Taking her on the trip was similar (both metaphorically and in execution) to the last scene with Misuzu in AIR TV. She wanted this one last thing, the only thing in the world she could think about, those happy times she spent with daddy. She wanted to relive them one last time, and Tomoya knew that it was better for her to get that chance than to just waste away in bed regretting that she never got to take another trip with him.

Maybe "it might've been better, if we'd never met", after all..
I wonder.. Was everything they experienced together worth it.. I don't know, and honestly, think more that maybe no..
I feel I'm expected to say otherwise, but really sometimes it's better to choose another path..
But there isn't any magic like turning time back, right?.. So in the end, in reality, when you have thoughts like this, you don't really have a choice, but to accept what you lived through.. I guess, Clannad will support people having these thoughts (of "what if") that even with the chance to not know that person, you'd still choose to know him/her, but to think about it, there's just no other way, and this idealism a little bit bites me with it's untrue nature.. If Tomoya chooses to be with Nagisa, it's truly producers supporting "healthy view" or whatever, but with the right of choice, I think, Tomoya could choose not meeting Nagisa.. And both of their lifes becoming better as a result of that..
