What an awesome ep! The theory on the spells, the creation of new one, THA WEAPONS!!! And of course the last scene. Awesome!

And to think because of that awful 1st ep I was thinking to drop this!! What a huge mistake I would make!
For the ones that like to bother others (like me) with "you should read the manga/LN", please stop. I don't read mangas, I will NOT read mangas, I will not listen to what manga readers complain in adaptation to the anime counterpart, I only watch anime except in very few and specific situations.

Dia is top tier waifu I hope we get to see her when Lugh becomes an adult

Didn't we already see Dia in the first scene in episode 1 after the "Jeffrey Epstein"-like auction of those girls when he kills the "Ghislaine Maxwell"-like woman selling the girls?

I liked the chapter, it showed well the magic system that was used and with the final scene it showed that there will be no censorship of any kind in the deaths. I know that your team is only women and that is fine, what worries me is that a harem will break out

wow, this show is surprisingly good. The protagonist is OP, but in a really unusual and clever way, and his mindset is way different from a normal isekai protagonist. Also I'm really digging how he's gradually learning how to feel things and care about people, and it kinda ties into how he was betrayed in his first life because he didn't understand how other people felt, so he couldn't see the betrayal coming.

That scene where she activates his magic though was weirdly sexual, and let's not even think about the implications of that. let's just mooooove on. I think there is a weird, dark edge to the show, but it has remarkable tone control and pretty good animation. I really thought this would be trash, so maybe it was the expectations game, but this is really solid seeming so far, and I'm willing to see where it goes.

In under two weeks, they've already done a lot! With that much knowledge, I'm sure Lugh will be successful in killing the Hero. By the way, that partner of his from his previous life, do you think that she is the Hero, or maybe she just reincarnated as Dia?

Also, this comment from YouTube! I hope Lugh will have enough mana and know much to be able to make nukes!

nope, she's not qualified to be a hero and she was only added to the anime, not mentioned in the LN and Manga. Also the hero is not a reincarnated person, Dia's personality and the apprentice's are also not the same.

*chef's kiss*

And just like that, our magic tutor dia leaves after a single episode, but it was time well spent. Sorry for the comparisons, but Roxy is still the better magic tutor. For me it's the more subdued voice, it's more normal, compared to the typical high-pitched voices given to anime girls. But besides that, dia was a good way for lugh to demonstrate his powers. Lugh is already over-powered at a young age and you can see that through dia's reactions. At least I feel this is a power fantasy (for now at least, we haven't seen the Hero yet) done right, sure he's strong but it was from making good decisions. Misfit of demon academy should take notes, as that is also known as an infamous power fantasy. He was stupid powerful but it wasn't.... cool. He kind of just talked and enemies blew up. Yawn. Lugh on the other hand, I feel is an over-powered generic isekai protagonist, but done right.

I like how he gives dia a titanium blade as a gift of thanks for teaching him. What a man.

If I wasn't sold enough on this anime already, the ending put the nail in the coffin. I was kind of hoping the one to be executed would be Dia, but I guess that wouldn't really make sense, and I kind of want to see her again. It would be quite a powerful scene though if it was revealed that the dad merely called for Dia to bond with his son, to make the execution even more difficult. But it wasn't her, and I guess it doesn't really matter. Besides all that, what really makes me happy is that Lugh doesn't have a goody-two-shoes moment, where he starts to contemplate if it's really right to execute people.

But nope, he just walks up to her and slices her hand off. Yes, CHARACTER CONSISTENCY! He was a killer in his old life and he's still a killer now. Maybe he got a bit triggered at the very end because he did throw the knife in her face after she taunted him even though he initially intended her to painlessly bleed out, but come on that line he delivered was awesome and maybe it goes to show his emotions truly are returning to him.

Dia is pretty good and CUTEEEE, and their brief partnership with Lugh was freaking amazing. They did all kinds of stuff together (except for) and their masterpiece, the beta titanium alloy is legit. That last scene where Lugh threw the knife on Margaret was hands down a jawdrop from me, I felt that and it made me like this episode.

The first three episodes have been pretty good but unfortunately I heard from the next episode the show gradually devolves into a harem show; well, since the lead is paired with three girls that should be expected. And this looks like the worst possible show to haremize; haven't we had way more than enough harem anime already?

As for the lead he is ridiculously, implausibly OP. Will he ever be allowed to have at least one weakness? A single crack on the super strong, stainless and spotless beta titanium alloy he consists of for some actual human 'light' to pass through?

The magic system and especially the alchemy part are straight up hilarious.

I haven't felt this much abundant joy from a character dicking about with the system since Knight's & Magic (anyone know what that apostrophe is for?)

But, just in case we got too comfy, nicely brutal ending.

Elder sister? Hmm, what did his father not tell Lugh, eh? Oh, do tell Dia.

What the? Did he just invent the periodic table for them?

So the convicted and condemned is actually guilty? Well that was nice change, for a family of assassins we don't have gray areas of morality and justice...for now.

I have been wondering why creating new spells in a world which only has a set number (IIRC 100? Split for 6 elements?) is just a B level skill, but I guess you only need someone with it to write it down and anyone can use it.

I guess the chances for someone with that skill to just randomly try it would be low enough for it to not be commonly known.

I wonder how she has become a magic teacher at 10 when 7 is too young to learn it though, she must have some special gifts too.

Lmao so if i understood correctly, the MC cracked / solved one of the core fundamentals for spell casting in two weeks by applying his own modern day knowledge of chemical structures and formulas of minerals, which essentially allowed him with his spell weave ability, to combine the materials together.
The science behind it was cool, i know shit all about science, but the MC breaking down one of the literal core systems of this world and reducing it to nothing but numbers and values that he probably learnt in school, to then create a translation cheat sheet create almost anything is funny to me lol.

Damn ok, didn't think we were getting into fire-arms already but color me surprised. The tech behind it was explained briefly, but what i took away was the MC being able to craft a whole ass firearm with his understanding of magic and science, then tried using the schematics of an artillery cannon from his previous world, amped up with magic. Shit

I liked Dia, fun character. Hope we see more of her in the future, her relationship with Tuatha is pretty sweet and her voice actor also does a really good job imo.

I really liked the ending, felt like a nice plot device that'll be key for the MC's development and potential outcome of the story. I do enjoy the emotional stories of characters who were trained killers esc their entire life, but be given a second chance for a road of redemption and creating new found value in their own life and other peoples life's, and seeing the beauty in life now. Stories like this i think are more interesting and important in how they execute and tell the story of the characters development rather then the end result of said journey.

I liked the chemistry but I feel like it has some holes.
For one, why are they using the density/specific gravity we use on Earth? Or the melting point on Earth? etc.
Ok the melting point is also in Celsius and not in kelvin! REEEE

But more importantly, both Celsius (and by default it's derivative kelvin) is a arbitrary unit of measurement from Earth. You'd think a magic created by the the heavens would use some different value(maybe their own measurement). As for specific gravity/density; same thing. That is measured based off of Earth's gravitational field. We just used a dimensionless unit as a conversion factor so we can use it more broadly in the sciences. But ultimately, it's a conversion factor for the conditions of Earth; not a universal constant.

Something like the atomic number makes a lot more sense as the number of protons are constant regardless of where as long they are the same isotope. Even if you use another numeral system that's not base 10, the notation would be different but the fundamental value remains the same. In fact we knew which elements we missed because certain atomic numbers were skipped. It's pretty fundamental and so I would think that is what is likely to be shared across worlds, not a arbitrary conversion factor or melting point (which also can change based on pressure btw).

Lastly, since he clearly had to specify the specific elements, you'd think that when making a gun let alone a artillery piece; you'd have to specify all the details of what you are creating and not just two words. Is there a "artillery piece" creation spell?
Otherwise, how about the elements involved, their percentage, the alloys, crystalline structure, pre-stressing the barrels, where and how it's all attached, the lubrication, ball bearings, the fluid for the recoil recuperator, etc. etc. etc.
With that in mind, such a incantation would be a freaking essay because based on the element generation spell; you need to specify the specifics and not just will it to existence. Which once again, the fact it's just two words mean that there is some pre-defined artillery piece that automatically spawns? But clearly not because he mentioned using martensitic steel next time for the barrel. Does he just not need to specify the details? Then do the incantation need to change? Is it some "save file" that he can overwrite what the incantation summons? But then how can he teach someone else how to use it? Does the other person's incantation updates if he changes his version?

Reply to theGodde
based off the internal logic of the show, things are produced through magic via specifying the weight (gravity?), melting point, and atomic mass. There's no specification for shape, so I'd assume that they have to visualise it?
Either way if we assume that Lugh is using hardened Steel then the spell should at least be a sentence long and not 3 words. To top this off, no one other than him should be able to visualise a gun with perfect rifling. There are so many intricate components all separate within a gun.
The cannon is just stupid tho. Excluding all the complex recoil mechanisms, the ammunition is apparently high explosive? Meaning he'd need to chant a spell summoning multiple different elements to create a shaped charge warhead within the round. I could understand it being full calibre pure tungsten, but not HE.
In other words this magic system breaks its own rules - and has absolutely no drawbacks.

now tell me. How much more compelling would this story be if Lugh was actually not reincarnated, but born in this world with no knowledge - instead growing up becoming an assassin. Not only would he actually have a character and flaws, but he would actually be connected and invested within this world.

But that ending was so stupid... why did she have to be concealing her motivations? Why couldn't she have actually been genuinely repentant, so that Lugh killing her felt like an actual moral hurdle to overcome? Once again the narrative is bending over backwards to clear Lugh of any moral responsibility - just like Redo.
@theGodde
I know this post is years old but I'm glad I wasn't the only one to have issues with his gun and artillery creation.
I also agree with the moral write-off. It would be far more interesting if he just killed her despite genuinely being repentant and didn't go all villain over it. We know he's a cold-blooded assassin. So we knew he was going to do it.

In fact it would be more interesting for the father to react to a kid he raised in a healthy family having no remorse. Maybe his son has issues? While good for a assassin, it isn't normal. That should be explored.
And him willingly kill a repentant person at the start should help contrast perhaps something later on in the story where he is more hesitant. character growth! Wouldn't that be awesome?

That said, it is so far way better than Redo the Healer... but based on the opening scene with the human trafficking, and this scene; it seems any and all violent acts will be hand waved as justified for the MC to do. I hope not but the signs are there.
