THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------

Looks like Yuuya is reaching a boiling point now not that I blame him the slightest. That lieutenant..ugh, if I had a teacher like her.

A man and his horse are one

Also, the waitress..I got a feeling that she's going to play a more prominent role later on. The fact that she's wearing that outfit with the word "cow" on it. Oh god, the irony.

Also, cute Tarisa/Chobi/Churrasco with the neko ears and outfit ~_~

Spectacular battle at the end. Good episode tbh.

OnoD's character needs to get used to the robot, and met the twin in rumor. He still argue against the boss. Lack of understanding of different value?

Co-workers cerebrating him for joining. lol @ tanned girl and big chest girl seems to be in good term. Seems like the boss is from famous family of Loyal Guard.

The robot that they think that it's the boss piloting is the enemy? So it was to test him to understand what she said?!

Another good episode but the censors ARE STARTING TO PISS ME OFF. Seriously knowing this is going to be 9 volumes and all the light of death is hurting eyes more than pleasing them. Hope they make a mistake like in Horizon series this last episode where nipples were uncovered. Anyway that out of the way the action and CG were quite pleasing along with MOE. My thoughts follow.

About the beginning, the start had rather 3 enticing parts that were a good start for the episode itself. First of all the are Inia and Cryska in the spoiler
very nicely shown in action and suits. Very nice to see.

The second thing is Valerio teasing Tarisa in the spoiler
if only I knew why and what came up next I would have found it more MOE but still Tarisa there with her blush shows that she is a girl to tease out but that she is not easy and she can get angry at you.

The third thing is Bridges and Yui BS each other in the spoiler
which always turns out almost like Bridges wants to slap Yui. Good thing Vincent stops him again.

About the bar, the bar part was so hilarious for seeing BIG COW BREASTED girls in the spoiler
HAHAHAH! The shirt even matches her so well that bull being all MAD. Still what came in the following,

Of Tarisa along with the spoiler
shot up OVER 9000 MOE from all sides. Terisa is love in maid uniform. I would like it if she would be my personal servant. She looks so MOE there and good. Nice renders of Yui in the spoiler
during this segment.

About the fan service, light of death hurting eyes in the list
  • Yui part in the spoiler
might have revealed part of her ass but the white light kept grinding out my eyes so it was all bad.

  • Now why even bother in the spoiler
is that not like a male? Still terrible they put this in.
That being said it looks like this will be another Mirai Nikki censoring feast where gore and ecchi are both blacked out/whited out.

About the fight, now that was nice in various points. First of all the blood was good in the spoiler
those holographic BETAs make for some good gore stuff. The mecha of Bridges is astonishing. It looks like a Old Samurai with horns coming out from its head. A rather nice design really. The girls in the their suits in the spoiler
looks as usual splendid since it reveals their body contours nicely.

However shit hits hard when Yui knocks off Tarisa in the spoiler
OUCH! Poor her. However it got really good in the following,

Bridges makes me think of Hei with his eyes. Moreover there was some rather nice exposition of their fight along with SFX and transparencies to say the least in the spoiler
along with some Yui in suit exposition.

About thee end, well that was sure nice to see Tarisa in the spoiler
all frustrated at losing out to Yui. Seems Yui is that happy either and the project is under way. Inia is very MOE in the ED.

BTW nice renders of Inia from ED in the spoiler
she is MOE there after all.

Nice Art in the spoiler
I really like the background of it and shadings.

not bad not bad. finally a more coherant episode.

Thought Tokyo 3 was going to sprout out the ground when Yui looked into the sunset lol.
Was somewhat disappointed she got hit by Yuuya. Maybe she let him build a little confidence :P Though it seems he's really going to build up to exceed everyone anyway.

The Japanese Doll, Lt. Takamura, has outdone Chobi (Tarisa) for the worst character. There are so many things wrong with her, like her terrible attitude towards Yuuya Bridges, doesnt she know he is the American Top Gun?! If she was just a bit more understanding then she could be a bit decent. However that is the least of her sins
. She makes Chobi seem like shes at Macaroni's level. Yuuya was as impressive as always and I cant wait to see how his bond with 94 second turns out. Since he has just had his shower scene, I imagine he will only be going up from here in terms of emotions.

The oddest thing was that Natalies boobs seemed as big as Chobi's head, what even, only noticeable since they were all over her head.

Dropping the ball at such an intense time where it matters most is pretty unforgivable. I cant believe she actually lost, how do you come out in a fancy TSF with even an imperial sword and lose with just no challenge at all? Surely as a Lt, she ought to have had a bit better skills, then losing to some new comer in an awkwardly designed TSF?

Im pretty sure her loss was intentional considering Yuuya stated she could have beat him in one move from the get go...She was there to teach, not kick his face in...

Yeah he doesn't seem to be happy about winning too when Tarisa say to Yuuya that he won against Takamura.
She obviously got more experiences than him and he just learn to use japanese TSF, I do also looking forward to see more of the bonds of TSF.
Now he know the meaning of what Yui said. :)
Trust is more important than pilot, I guess American prefer Brute force than trust. :)

Japanese always using the samurai way with swords.
Instead of human samuraj it's a mecha samuraj haha :)

It's turn all good.

But FINALLY! Finally Yui, gets some freaking action instead of verbally knocking Yuuya down in the last two episodes.

She is soo badass, I love when she owned Chobi!

haha I know what you mean...I personally like Yui's character so far as cold and direct...Their relationship will get more tense, imo, before things start settling down between the two...I know romance isn't in the genre, any possibility on it? seems like a perfect scenario...

I can understand why some people hate Yui but seriously you can't blame her. Bridges basically had a nonchalant attitude the whole time and event went to blame it on the machine. Even in the episode where the two met alone he acted as if he was all that. How can someone act so cocky without any experience in the front-lines and expect not to get sternly put down? Are you just going to inflate his ego even more by praising how well he's done? Yeah right.

At least he's starting to understand now though. Also, I'm fairly certain Yui lost on purpose; at least not going all out. Once Yui saw that he understood the concept of what she was saying (A man and his horse are one) she was content.

But by the looks of it next episode is going to be that chapter in the manga. I was hoping it would take a different path but it seems like that's not the case. Of course, like everyone knows the girls are going to be all over the main protagonist... like usual...

Tarisa seems like a pretty loyal friend, but she'll surely get them in trouble later on with her temper.

I hope that starting with the next episode they start toning down some of the national BS. Make the conflict between the characters due to personalities, not what country they come from.

Yui's intention wasn't to win. It wasn't even to knock the others down a peg or two (even though that's what she did). The point of her showing up was two-fold:

First, she wanted to make explicitly clear that she was not some egotistical staff officer but rather a hardened front-line combatant. At no point prior to this did Yuuya or any of the others seem to respect the fact that she represents the people their project is intended to serve.
In any development project, the end user is king. Just like how you build a car based on the wants and needs of drivers, or design a dinner plate according to the tastes of your patrons, any military equipment should be designed to the specifications of the soldiers that are going to use it. Self-absorbed test pilots tend to forget that. It's one of the reasons she's been so hard on Yuuya. Hate her all you want, and respect Yuuya all you want, but it's painfully obvious that he was always thinking about himself and never the people the project was intended to benefit.

Second, she wanted Yuuya to learn to control the Type 94. If she just wanted to beat him down, she'd have done so. Yuuya's words and actions make it clear that he was painfully aware that she was more than just holding back - she was teaching him.

She succeeded in both goals. Yuuya's beginning to realize the Japanese design philosophy, which will be critical for him being an effective test pilot. He's also beginning to gain some degree of respect for Yui and her position.

I wanted her to teach Yuuya a lesson. She might of lost, but we all know she could of kicked his ash.

It was obvious Yuuya knews this as well, by the way he responded to Terisa's comment, who annoys me to no end by the way.

Yeah, the Take (3rd generation TSF) is better than the Shiranui (2nd gen TSF) by quite a bit. It's one of the top 3 TSF units in the Muv Luv universe, the other two being the U.S.'s Raptor, and the Soviets Berkut.

Plus even if Yui let Yuuya win, he's also using a TSF that he's only been piloting for a few weeks, so that has to count for something. Give him a Raptor, and it's very possible he beats Yui, even if she's taking the fight seriously.

More sexual tension between our mains. Well after three episodes building characters and relations i think it's about time they give us some action but it doesn't seem so from the preview. Hoping for episode 7 then.

Ha I love how people seem to either hate or love Yui. Personally I think she is doing just what she needs to do to make Yuuya a better pilot. He is arrogant, and was not using the machine correctly. He thought the machine was the problem, not the way he was piloting it. Also it makes him work harder. She is just pushing his buttons trying to make him develop quickly.

Personally I find Yuuya to be a little bitch. He has personal problems? Well that's just terrible. Everyone else who is there has had their families chomped on and homes destroyed. He needs to man the fuck up and get over it.

Don't mind the favor being returned for all the crap Americans said about the Japanese, especially in the parodies. All in good fun.

(Edit: Eh, misread but still keeping it :P)

I see the lover quarrel was still happening, even escalating into that mecha fight haha. Nice that you could actually feel some tension. Also noticed this show is now nudging Yuuya and Princess together into lovers and into bed.

Also amusing Chobi got forced into a cute neko outfit. Seems similar to Azunyan being tanned nya~

I find it hilarious that people dislike the fact that Bridges is arrogant and blames his problem on the mech, when that perfectly fits with the stereotype of American fighter pilots. That said he does bring up some good points. What is the point in being a test pilot if they don’t care to listen to your feedback? Bridges said it perfectly when he said “a mech that requires you to be a veteran just to pilot it is nothing more than a giant coffin.” Bridges may be an amazing pilot, but he was the wrong choice to pilot that mech.

I think first of all, he is not actually giving useful suggestions. All he is saying is that it is too sensitive (which is the point of the mech) and that it is a piece of junk. He never specifically says the design issues or anything with it. Yui knows that he is just incapable of piloting it and that's why she is not "listening" to his "suggestions".

As for what he said; "a mech that requires you to be a veteran just to pilot it is nothing more than a giant coffin” that part is just HIS incapability of piloting the mech. As noted previously in the show the Americans pilot things differently from the Japanese. So then, it is not a giant coffin because the Japanese will be able to pilot it fine because it suits their style.

I do agree with him not being the right fit as the pilot. I'm not really sure why they would pick him to be the lead pilot and not Yui or another Japanese pilot. Perhaps they wanted to test how long it would take for an amazing pilot whose expertise lies in another style to get used to the test mech.

That's what annoys me about the series so far, the American bashing and also the hate towards the Japanese from Bridges. To me...it just does not seem very realistic. They really need to take a vacation to America and see the melting pot.

All in all, decent episode it didn't piss me off as bad as Ep. 4 did.

Yui being a racist bitch don't make it no better though. Why take a pilot who you all thought was great, take away everything he got accustomed too, and then have bitch fits when he finds it uncomfortable. That makes no damn sense. Then she'd make dumb comments like "A 14 year old girl can pilot it". What the hell does that have to do with an american pilot who has received no japanese training til now. Lets see her pilot an American ship perfectly, otherwise STFU.

Yuuya doesn't have personal problems that prohibit him from establishing himself. He's making new friends just fine. He has to constantly deal with a nagging ass bitch constantly in his face degrading him. I'd be pissed off too if I had to deal with that shit everyday and didn't have the right to tell her to go kick rocks.
