Quotes from V for Vendetta.
Evey Hammond: Are you like a... crazy person?
V: I'm quite sure they will say so.
You wear a mask for so long, you forget who you were beneath it.
Creedy: Die! Die! Why won't you die?... Why won't you die?
V: Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.
Evey Hammond: Who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what, and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey Hammond: Well I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Evey Hammond: My father was a writer. You would've liked him. He used to say that artists use lies to tell the truth, while politicians use them to cover the truth up.
V: A man after my own heart.
Finch: One thing is true of all governments - their most reliable records are tax records.
V: Would you... dance with me?
Evey Hammond: Now? On the eve of your revolution?
V: A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having!
V: People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.
Sutler: I want this country to realize that we stand on the edge of oblivion. I want everyone to remember *why* they need us!
Sutler: What we need right now is a clear message to the people of this country. This message must be read in every newspaper, heard on every radio, seen on every television... I want *everyone* to *remember*, why they *need* us!
Evey Hammond: Where did you get all this stuff?
V: Oh, here and there, mostly from the Ministry of Objectionable Materials.
Evey Hammond: You stole them?
V: Oh, heavens, no. Stealing implies ownership. You can't steal from the censor; I merely reclaimed them.
Evey Hammond: I don't even know what you really look like.
[Evey tries to remove V's mask]
V: [V stops her] Evey, please. There is a face beneath this mask but it's not me. I'm no more that face than I am the muscles beneath it or the bones beneath them.
Evey Hammond: I understand.
V: Thank you.
V: Good evening. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten.

I just have to say... thank you so much for your explanations in the Stardust Memories episode discussions, namely your post on episode 12!
I felt so lost that I almost wanted to re-watch the series, but also really didn't want to because the ending (mostly because of Nina lol) left such a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe one day I'll re-watch it since I did like a lot of it, but not for a while.
Sometimes I find Gundam's plot a bit heavy and hard to grasp, but Stardust Memories felt like something else at times. Your posts cleared up sooooo much. Thank you! haha.
I was surprised that it ended with them still in the island. I thought the story was going to expand and show the whole world. But at least I thought the end was quite satisfying with Teresa coming back in a very beautiful way in the end just to finish Priscilla, since she had been my favorite character in the series since the first chapter she appeared in the manga. Miria was my second favorite character so it's nice to see her in your favorites. She had so many death flags in the story, so I like how she managed to succeed quite magnificently in her objective of destroying the organization and surviving in the end. She looked even more awesome with the x scar in her face.
I only read until chapter 8 of Kingdom because I already watched the 2 anime seasons, and it's hard to keep myself interested in reading it when I already know the story. But it's the second time someone tells me that loves Kingdom, which makes me curious to find out what's so special about the manga. So I guess I'll probably give it another try very soon too.
I also love Berserk and Vinland Saga. Just recently I made the resolution to read them only when a volume comes out instead of reading chapter per chapter. Vinland Saga is starting to look more and more similar to Berserk, but just without the magics.
By the way, I noticed that you left Gantz in your list as 373/383. Did you just not update it or did you decide to not read the last 10 chapters for some reason?
Hey, nice manga list and favorites.
I happened to see your profile when I was still reading Claymore, and by giving only Battle Royale a 10 in your completed manga list, you indirectly convinced me to give it a second chance. I absolutely loved it and it became my favorite manga.
My issues are very much located in the prefrontal cortex of my brain. They control your impulsiveness, your ability to make plans, your ability to retain information, emotions such as guilt or remorse are found there, and it is the very foundation of sentience. Things such as your speech and personality are controlled there. Often people with issues in this part of the brain can only do what is good in the moment, rather than the long term. This is an area of the brain that also affects people with bipolar disorder, which I was misdiagnosed with for a long time.
Schizophrenia is also something that happens if your prefrontal cortex isn't working properly (and another thing you can be born with). strangely they say it is one of the more medicatable mental health disorders. Bipolar is one of the hardest.
This part of the brain is very important to who you are and what you can do. It is even responsible for some motor functions.
By solely and firstly talking about feminism as a criticism you are proving my point of you guys being like sjws whining about muh patriarchy. In that same thread I brought up actual problems with the Last Jedi movie instead of going herp derp feminism reeeeeee.
The Force Awakens was a rehash of a New Hope but the Last Jedi wasn't a rehash of any of the older movies. JJ Abrams (director of Force Awakens but not Last Jedi) likes modern remakes like for instance Star Trek into Darkness was basically a modern remake of Star Trek Wrath of Khan.
Disney is interested in continuing it hence why they have new characters like Rey , Finn ,Kylo, Poe and the older characters of the franchise are supporting characters. They aren't just making prequels of the characters from the original trilogy (except for the han Solo movie).
Criticizing a movie by saying it's feminist is no different than an sjw criticizing a movie because of muh patriarchy. Actually use real criticism not linked to gender politics like talk about the story, characters, character development etc.
Hey, I started reading Akumetsu and am chapter 14, I have to say its a bit confusing right now (I am 17 so some if not most of the political terms I dont understand...), I also feel like the translation isn't that good, some of the words used are words that are actually never used (or at least I didnt see them used, like inaugurating, maybe its because I am not that into politics?)
SKIP THAT PART IF YOU WANT^
the point of all of this is that I have 2 questions:
1. Is it going to get better or should I just quit if I don't like it? (again, chapter 14)
2. Is understanding the political terms an important thing to the story or is understanding that "oh, so he stole 300m yen" is enough?
Btw sorry if its weird that I just came here out of nowhere and asked you this lol
Kuma said: i think geldor is being 3rd person. he is selling information to them and he also got information from them. that's why he is traitor. when this one is actually traitor, it's not like he sell information because he is the one that get it and use it.
The whole thing with Geldor is that he's using illegal means on the market to get rich, I doubt he has anything to do with the organization getting information. If they read his brain, they would just find him breaking the law in many ways so he can't have that haha.
As for the enemies having him in their memory, it's most likely a trick to throw them off. Masked guy was suspicious from his very first appearance, and these WSJ manga always follow through with that.
or you know, the one that read minds is the one that betraying? (it's revealed that copycat magic is disguse as one of them right?).. that's why emperor also don't trust it.. (i think it will showed in next chapter)
You may be on to something. That brain reading guy may be on it as well.
i am soo faar ahead, and it's full of surprise... do i need to spoil it?
