Well, I'm glad to see Takae reflect on the recent events and her connection to her family. No matter what happened in the past, that won't change. It appears the relationship between Takae and Keisuke is more complicated than it looked.

Nothing really too dramatic but Keisuke seems to always be the voice of reason.

Had hoped against all odds that Takae's soul would be on standby at least just until Mai's wedding but I'm glad she found a compromise for herself.

It's nice to see Moriya finally getting rewarded for how respectful she's been both before and after knowing the big secret. Watching an adult woman take a kid's spouse from them as politely as possible was still wild tho

I'm wondering if Mai run away from home to her fiance's house near the sea, in her mentally unstable condition her fiance's ex-girlfriend ghost might possess her, complicating the situation even more.

@ForTehNguyen To me almost every episode has felt rushed!
This one was better to the point of me kind of liking it. (Still not great though.)
I think this manga needed two cours to be done justice... (maybe 1.5 cours if possible)

Moriya took the revelation surprisingly well. Good for Keisuke.

Takae saying all the grown-up marriage stuff to Renji was funny lol. Poor guy was confused for a bit. I would've thought it was just a precocious brat lol. I'm so glad Takae was able to see her daughter get married even if it was pretend. She earned this much for being such a good mom.

I think Keisuke has the right intentions for the most part. It's just that most of the time he appears to do the complete opposite of what he should do. Like what good would do to his dead wife if he just kept ignoring her? It was frustrating to see. Thankfully, Moriya talked him out of it. And damn, Moriya actually revealed everything to Takae. She really is a brave girl. Albeit I didn't really understand what happened when she met Marika's mom. Why did she just disappear into thin air? At least by the end, it seems like Keisuke and Takae are finally on the same wavelength again. They're finally putting their daughter first and foremost. This show was probably about her more than the mom and the dad.

Anyway, Keisuke finally decided to tie the knot with Moriya. With the blessing of his late wife of course. And that might be the only thing that I thought felt rushed. Keisuke went through so many cycles so fast. He didn't seem like the kind of guy who could get over something like this so easily. I was thinking that the fastest way to make Takae pass on would be for Keisuke to get married but I didn't think he'd be on board with it so easily. It almost seems like he's marrying Moriya solely so Takae could pass on, not because he likes her. That just feels a bit awkward and makes me feel bad for Moriya.

And of course, they did all this behind the back of their daughter Mai. She deserved to know. And there might've been a better way to tell her all this instead of inviting her to dinner with Moriya. Maybe if Takae was there with them. The fact that she isn't there to explain everything will only complicate things even more. The ending of this episode made me feel something I hadn't felt from an anime in a while. Only 2 episodes left. I'm gonna miss this series.

some bits felt pretty rushed ngl but was mainly to focus more on certain parts especially on Keisuke finally changing and letting go
but sadly during the course of this series the parents haven't given enough focus to Mai on overcoming this grief and having that sit down with her on this, now the sudden change is being shown in front of her face at one of the worst possible ways, really hate that it had to come this way because it does feel a bit like so I'm doing this now without easing you into this

I mean, it's bad that like she wants her parents to still be together despite Takae being in Marika's body so it's crazy to think this but they all should have had that proper talk about all this, because they haven't really discussed what's going on with her properly and most of it was just in the background without Mai knowing, they haven't gotten Mai to let go of that perfect bubble in her mind

Yea, fuck. The dam has broken and the tears are flowing. I’ve been calling this development for the last month and a half, but it don’t make it any easier.

Keisuke and Takae coming to the realisation this situation is untenable and Marika needs to get her body back hurt so much. Takae having Mai and renji do the wedding practice in front of her so she could get a taste of her daughter being married was so damn beautiful.. but nothing could prepare me for that last 5 minutes. “Let’s think of one thing to say to each other” and they’re both thinking of their daughter 😭

I wish things would’ve gone differently and that Takae didn’t die, but that’s ultimately life and her tragedy doesn’t mean she can take over Marika’s body so this was the right thing to do. I think everything worked out for the best with her coming back though because it did push Keisuke and Mai to go out and live their lives which had become stagnant. Also it helped Moriya and Keisuke grow closer

Speaking of which, it’s kinda crazy to go from not knowing how to reply to Moriya confession to getting married. Pacing felt a bit rushed idk if that’s how the manga went or not but I could’ve done with an episode of them starting to date and Keisuke accepting that he deserves to be happy and move on.

It looks like everyone except Mai have decided to move on. With that said, Takae delaying the news (about her passing on soon, likely) and Keisuke revealing the marriage plan with Moriya NOW, wasn't the best decisions from both parents, to say the least. First, Mai mistakenly thinks Takae will stick around probably for years to come, as for Keisuke, it still looks like cheating, especially when we consider the fact Mai doesn't know Takae will disappear soon (allegedly). His wife is still around and he's already getting married to a different woman! I think it makes sense to why Mai would be shocked to the core here. Oh man... this lack of communication will again complicate things and make so much more drama next episode!

With that said, it looks like once Mai understands and lets it go, Takae will be able to move on too. 2 episodes left and I fear drama may drag on longer than it needs to. Here's hoping for a decent ending.

Moriya trusting Keisuke shows how much she believes in him. She may not be Takae, but she’s a great woman to spend his life with.

Still though, who gets married so fast? I thought they’d just say, “We’re together now,” lol. Very well directed episode nonetheless.

Moriya is the best girl of this episode. She is so understanding. Keisuke is moving on too, which is a great character development.

Mai though. She needs to be bitchslapped into reality.

We're really getting closer to the end. I hope Keisuke and Moriya end up together.

God, I hate the "quick wedding" development so fucking much, twice in one anime.... These characters just aren't doing it for me, I'm just not convinced with the author's writing at all.

I have heard it's rushed to oblivion though, maybe that's why the writing and it's characters feel so forced and idiotic.

I thought this episode was the best yet and it had me in tears 3 times. The moment where Renji sort of "saw" his mother in law, and the part where Moriya asked permission to take care of Keisuke were incredibly well done.
To those who say the situation with Moriya is happening too fast i would refer you back to what Takae said to Renji "So if the timing is right I think it's best to just jump in"

I don't know for sure that Keisuke is completely in love with Moriya like she is with him, but many marriages and especially historically have often started with much less than this. I know that he enjoys her company and respects her and this is the start of where a deep love grows from. I also think he might have been holding himself back previously as he felt it to be "cheating".

I really love this series and am going to go read the manga when the anime is done.

Our boi and Moriya have come up with a plan to help Takae move on Glad their last words to each other were about taking care of Mai since that is what parents should worry about The wedding rehearsal was lovely It gives Takae closure regarding Mai It was hard to listen to Moriya confess her love for Keisuke to Takae but Takae was still able to give her consent

Dealing with this unusual situation is starting to take its toll on those involved. That's the feeling I got after Keisuke told Moriya that she should love someone more deserving than himself.

The only proper happy part of the episode was Mai and Renji's wedding rehearsal upon Takae's request, which was a sweet and wholesome moment. Other than that, this episode portrayed how tough it is to move on, but that moment between Keisuke and Takae under the streetlight during their respect walks was pretty powerful, where they mutually agree on what had to be done in order to make progress in the right direction. It doesn't change how bittersweet this part was, though.

However, the last obstacle to deal with now is for Mai to be able to accept this change of pace and seeing her father with Moriya at the posh restaurant and then having him introduce Moriya as someone he wants to marry must've been a huge shock to her. This is something that she will have to be able to deal with herself and not always rely on Takae to help out. It will be difficult and hurtful, but I think this is for the best for her to be able to move on as well.

Pacing aside, this was a pretty strong episode overall.

This episode was intense and full of emotions. I thought Keisuke would have a harder time than Mai getting over everything related to Takae, but like a true man, he understood that holding on would only bring more suffering and sadness to his family. The scene between Keisuke and Takae was pure cinema, so emotionally charged is the send-off.

Now, the drama escalates with Keisuke and Moriya's wedding, which feels rushed and very forced. I think if they had simply informed Mai that they were starting to date, it would have had the same emotional impact without rushing into marriage. However, now Mai must accept that her mother, Takae, is no longer with them and move on with her life.

I know people say this is a rushed adaptation, which it is, but every key scene they do adapt is way better done than in the source material. It also feels like the mangaka tries to "straighten out" their story in the anime because the manga, imho, had some questionable developings for some of its characters, i.e. Moriya.

@Storm1988 If even being rushed it looks so logical and emotionally good, then it hurts me even more in comparison. I never thought that noname author would be able to set up the upcoming bittersweet ending and perfectly manage the drama much better than the previously idolized Aka Akasaka by me. The setup for the ending in this episode was so perfect that it was like I could see the logic of it on a visceral level.

As painful as it is for Mai, when Moriya was in the restaurant with her father, instead of Takae we all know that this HAS to be done. Because we don’t know when the next time Marika will come back, and next time it’ll probably be for good, so like I said, this HAS to be done. And i’m glad that Keisuke realizes that, but he’s going a bit too far by saying that he would ignore Takae to try and get her out of Marika’s body, and fortunately, Moriya was there to talk him out of it.

And overall, there were some beautiful moments, and that one monologue with Takae (when she was with Mai) was one of them, though I don’t quite agree that only the living can heal the hearts of the living. Spirits and ghosts can do that just fine, as Takae herself has proven!

When Takae asked Mai to practice her wedding vows with her fiancé I knew that the reason was because Takae figured she may not be around by the time the wedding takes place, it's too bad she didn't relay that to Mai so that she wouldn't assume that Takae would be around "forever" since it lead to Mai discovering her dad with his coworker now turned fiancée at the end of the episode. On that note I'm glad that both Takae and Keisuke have come to the understanding that Marika needs to come back to her body permanently.

Moriya knowing by her instinct that Keisuke is someone that will not lie because he did, and right now on his mind, it's keeping his dead wife find the peace that she needs to move on.

Mai and Aikawa preparing for their own wedding, and Takae having the cheek to have both of them rehearse their wedding vows is funny, but the kiss should be saved for the actual day...the advice coming from a mother in a possessed kid's body. Whereas Keisuke is moving along at work and trying to move on from this entire ordeal, to which Takae realized this that he's also trying his best, it's putting the strain very much on the husband.

Even Takae doesn't need to pretend being Keisuke's wife in Marika's body any longer towards Morika, and that's good. And as once-parents facing each other without the presence of their own daughter in a 1-to-1 heart-to-heart talk, signing off together to take care of their only daughter, that's at least the sign of great parenting. And while Mai has everything prepared...she was not expecting Moriya to be with her father, not after the reassurance that Takae has given to her, out of surprise.

Keisuke has finally moved on to a remarriage with Moriya, how will Mai move on from this as well?

@0451 Pretty much what I thought about the marriage announcement. "Really? Here? Now?" This would have been better to have the four of them talk in private, at home, or at least a talk beforehand between Takae and Mai about the possession situation. But instead, they chose to announce it out of the blue, in a restaurant, in a public space when it's hard to talk openly, especially when it's about Takae's situation. I wouldn't blame Mai if she takes it as a sort of betrayal from her father, initially at least.

Only thirty seconds for Moriya to fully believe in Keisuke's crazy story. She's such a sweetheart, isn't she?

Pretty good episode except for the last five or so minutes. Keisuke deciding to marry Moriya felt really rushed (not to mention awkward given it almost looks like he's doing it solely so Takae can finally pass on) and the lack of communication between him, Takae and Mai for the sake of some easy drama was plain lame.

I'm happy Takae at least got to see them practice their vows.

It was sad that Moriya didn't get the credit she deserved when Keisuke was getting praised for his hard work /: Keisuke is actually stupid, Takae said she didn't want him to be alone, so he resorts to avoiding and pushing her away??

I also don't understand why Mai keeps secrets from her fiance.

Why are they both worried about Mai, she's going to start living her own life soon. Takae should've said its okay for Keisuke to move on and find a new partner.

Takae should've talked to Mai and told her that it would be good for the dad to move on. Ugh. The relationship does feel a little rushed and forced though.

I agree that Keisuke should've told Mai he was dating someone. Why do anime parents always dump the relationship news on their kids at dinner when they meet their partner for the first time ever? Is this something Japanese people do IRL?
