Mangaka Rikachi's series, how about a Josei work finally being represented in the anime space, alongside the less stellar Haigakura this season.

Maaya Sakamoto's OP and Nao Touyama's ED are rather decent, but nothing special.

From an orphan kidnapped to become a bride to be sold-off, this is Nina's life being bred to become a princess replacement, because of her bright blue eyes that's similar to another princess that Prince Azure wants to groom her into being one. But of course, teaching an orphan to become royalty in a short matter of time, it's near impossible.

Nina being presented to Azure's parents of the king and queen, there's a ton of pressure to live up to expectations, but it's clear that he's the unwanted prince to succeed the throne, that despite the Queen's insolence, Nina did what she could, and Azure compliments her in secret from giving her a wish to be granted, which he pats her on the head.

Is this the start of a possible romance? I mean it is that way...

We get enough and plenty of shounen's, shoujo's, the list goes on, but very rarely do we ever get some josei love when it comes to anime's nowadays. You might be lucky to find one every other season, but they don't end up being... the best to put it simply. This this around though, this one looks sorta good?

Got our main girl and her two friends living in the slums after a plague or something happens and wiped out a whole bunch of people living there, including the kid's relatives, so only one thing to resort to, stealing ofc. Though, yeah, straight off the bat it definitely not only has that josei coding to it, it also has the MAJOR josei feeling to it off the bat. Anyways, as per usual, all good things must come to an end, and sadly, one of their dudes get sick and the other just starts LASHING out on poor ol' girl.... for what reason??? Like why we venting our anger on the ONLY person you might have left now. She even tried her hardest to try to find something to help him, but you want to know what this ABSOLUTE PRICK OF A "FRIEND" DOES....

..... THE FUCKER SELLS HER OFF TO SLAVERS. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???? Did all those years you spent with her just mean fucking nothing? I mean, it'd be one thing to just abadon her without notice, that's pretty normal in anime for some odd reason, BUT FUCKING SELLING HER OFF???? Even if you are PISS FUCKING POOR THIS IS THE LAST OF LAST RESORTS. Worst part of it all, it's fucking royals. It'd be one thing to be sold as an actual slave, but having to be tied in with royals now is honestly just a pick you poison type of situation between the two. And already, mr. gold eyes is the typical annoying fuck royal that thinks he gets to order "peasants" just because he's a royal. Which, while yes is true, I just still find it so fucking annoying when they do it. Thankfully, ol' girl actually has some balls on her unlike other MCs in the genre, and TALKS HIM FUCKING DOWN.

Done basically slapped all the arrogance out the dude, and now he's somewhat nice to her. I love that. Loving Nina already as well btw.

Good enough start though, all things considered.

I'm actually surprised when I learn that the manga is only 5 years old. I thought it's the product of pre-2000 era, and this is not a compliment.

I wonder if we'll get to see Saji again or hear about him. At least he seemed to feel bad about his decision.

After having lost everything and being abandoned it's no wonder that Nina would feel the desire to be needed.

Alright start, I'd say.

Premise is nothing new but Nina's so adorable. Praise her more. So it seems she's gonna fall for Azure but will have to leave to marry the prince from other kingdom? Hope it won't happen and she'll get to stay with him. Hoping for a good romance. Liked the ending theme, opening's not bad as well.

Josei back on the menu finally boys. Who doesn’t love a good rags to riches story? Love this first episode, Nina is absolutely adorable and I want to see her get the pampered life she deserves after going through such a hard life as an orphan! The show looks gorgeous too.

I was about to be so mad when Saji sold her out, thought shit was gonna get really dark, but whatever his intentions were it ended up working out for Nina in the end. Pacing might have been a little quick going from the orphan backstory to her life in the castle as a princess, but I mean that’s what we’re here for anyway so don’t mind them speeding that up.

Being a princess might seem like a dream job for many, but coming from where Nina comes from it’s gotta be tough having to change the way you talk, act and even think. Especially when you got bitches like the queen around. What a fucking loser she is, how do you meet someone like Nina and your first reaction is to try and embarrass her. She got exactly what she deserved when Nina splashed her dumbass. She’s nasty to the Prince as well just because that’s her husband’s ex’s son. Vile cretin.

Speaking of the Prince, every time he talks I hear the dude from Ojou to banken kun 😂 obviously it’s the same seiyuu, but also their designs and faces look so similar.

“I want you to praise me” really good first episode here and can’t wait to see the rest of this and how this inevitable romance is gonna play out. It’s josei so I have high expectations

Basically I can't with MC... For me she is starting to become non-stop irritated bratty thing. 1 scene to change whole actions and second to go reverse. And it wasn't even 5 minutes when she forgott all about place she came from.
Even the prince is less of a brat than her.
I wouldn't be surprised if history will not cover her thiefy friend. At least he got reasons to lash out and scream at her. Maby a little bad behavior for selling her but still I feel he had more reasons then only money.
Not shure if I'll continue to the second episode.

This could very well end up being one of my favorites this season, but hopefully i'm not jinxing myself here. Nina is a great character, and i'm really loving her already. There is something about the trope of the serious guy in power trying to deal with a non-serious and eccentric girl who just does what she want that i really love in these shows. Apothecary Diaries and other similar shows quickly comes to mind. I'm feeling quite excited for this one, looking forward to seeing more girlboss Nina!

I wonder if we'll learn more about why Saji sold her off, i don't believe he truly sold his sister to slave traders because she was optimistic at the wrong moment

From the premise, I thought she said "killing her twice" meant it had something to do with the usual reincarnation cliche. I'm glad it wasn't, and that it was just a flashforward, with the first time she was "killed" being her real identity as Nina.

they crammed 2 chapters into this. It worked well this episode but im worried its a sign theyll do what I feared and rush the story.

They skipped the brothers giving nina that bracelet to keep entirely

For some reason they were too lazy to animate her tripping over a rug so she trips over her dress. I guess they aren't going to go all out painting the luxurious palace fantasy setting for some reason

Honestly though not a bad adaptation overall so far. Nothing substantial lacking that I noticed over then her keeping the bracelet.

Also Laughing my ass off at how Azure's mouth is drawn so prominent (amd it's not in the manga) since he's the male lead and we got to be prepared for them kissing scenes 😉

Yeah I don't like the dub voice for the king though. He doesn't really capture the energy of this man. It doesn't suite his character at all. I won't say more, it's just not a good fit for this man and how he's supposed to be acting now or later. He's trying to make nina feel at ease and I don't get that from his delivery at all..

The queen is perfect though.

Also not sure I'm a fan of the overall soundtrack but it might grow on me. Not sure about pacing and how they're presenting the characters so far either. Azure seem of less expressive then he is in the manga

I see lots of comments seeing 7th loop in this. For me that was gone immediately when he said she will die here and become princess or something. 7th loop seems VERY different to me. Honestly getting a little more "Apothecary Diaries" vibe without anywhere close to as much fun. (sold to the whatever castle area thing is called; takes special action to avoid getting sold to slavery; guy met is some level of royalty; concubines, their servants, and their multiple children; training to be more proper (?))

4/5, I don't really like it much, and it starting with her apparently getting executed by golden eyes hurts SOOOOO much, like they shouldn't have done that Q_Q... Will be much later as hair grew a lot... Really wish they didn't show that, otherwise seems decent and fun. I look forward to more!

Blonde haired blue eyed loli that gets head pats and is impersonating a princess. I'm in.

Excited for this. The queen is a bitch tho

Not bad though it felt like a worse King's Beast in many ways. I like the Persian-ish setting though. That's not done nearly enough in comparison to European and Chinese settings.

It's simply that almost nothing really happened in the first episode I suppose.

Quite. Rishe in the first episode was simply highly skilled at everything due to seven lifetimes of experience whereas Nina is obviously not really skilled at anything due to being a street rat. They make very different impressions.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if people simply say this due to that they have the same hair colors.

the episode was average in my opinion
there was nothing major twists and the anime felt like some reverse harem trope
where the main heroine has nothing to offer except her kindness and beauty.
like all the other shoujo the sparkling male lead is also present in this anime.
overall, this anime is not that good so many questions that should've been answered in the first episode wasn't answered.
the episode feels rushed this episode truly requires 1 hours at least in my opinion.
the same type of anime is all over the industry already.
the anime has nothing unique to offer.
nonetheless this is a good timepass anime.

It’s kinda just a Josei, but I kinda like it
- Ripping the clothes off her was.. disturbing and unnecessary, or at least showing it
- Azure is so boring I’m sick of his character already
- I wonder if we will ever see her brother/friend again?

Sadly, not a very impressive start.

This has potential, but the writing is poor and plot is not well worked out.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Nice first episode. I feel sorry for Nina being dragged into this plot to have her pretend to be Alisha and marry a prince, but I guess the life she had prior wasn't so great either. Her friend is pretty rotten but desperation drives you to the extremes sometimes. This Azure guy is a bit bland, you'd think he'd be sad about his half sister dying or show some desperation for his plotting to pay off.

Nina the Starry Bride is a familiar rags-to-riches story about a girl who goes from orphaned street rat to princess-priestess replacement by force.

As a fan of the manga, I went in with very low expectations for the anime but came out pleasantly surprised. The first two chapters were covered here. A couple of things unfortunately got cut out but it didn't ruin the episode for me.

Nina has such a fiery personality so her developing dynamic with Azure, the somewhat stoic second prince, is pretty interesting. Their banter is fun! I was not expecting Azure's voice to be so deep, though. Yuichiro Umehara tends to show up in a lot of romance fantasy anime, not that I'm complaining....

I'm excited to continue watching next week and can't wait to see more of the plot unfold. Hoping for more Josei adaptations in the future!!

Impressed. loved the first episode. Lots of mysteries here.

First things first. Death of princess Alisha. Is she really dead? Was that really an accident? Prince Azure's reaction towards the broken carriage was so cold. He doesn't seem like a guy who'd be so heartless he'd immediately ask for a substitute to be found as if real Alisha was just some replaceable toy. I may be thinking too much here, but no dead body = sus. He's the type of guy IMO who'd hide the real princess, for her own safety most likely. Dunno.

It seems like Azure was responsible for the princess so did he really goofed up? What was the carriage doing in that dangerous location during the rain to begin with? I'm skeptical about all of that.

Queen is hella sus too. I think it's obvious she knows the princess is fake and wanted to expose her. That would likely result to Azure getting in very serious problems; maybe even executed or banished. Why the hell would she insist fake Alisha dances. She must know the princess died recently thus the fake one likely had no time to learn dance yet; plus she wanted to take her with her. I'm inclined to believe the princess was assassinated and I suspect the queen had to do something about it.

Anyways, hooked.

BTW, drawing style for characters look hella similar to Yubisaki to Renren IMO.

Kind manga readers, please give me spoilers if you don't mind, will Nina be reunited with Saji? Because it was very uncomfortable... he apologized for yelling at Nina just because he had agreed to sell her... at least it seemed that way to me.

Well yeah, he did apologize again to Nina for deceiving her. But it was annoying. In the end, the boy might get something in return, but he can't guarantee what kind of life Nina will have.

Anyway, I thought the chemistry between Nina and Azure was sweet. Unfortunately she's going to marry another prince... is that the white haired one from the character list?

Nice to be getting more fantasy romances related to royalty. Its also interesting to see its set in a desert kingdom. Thats pretty rare.

The general vibe of the series reminds me of Snow White with The Red Hair just with the music and a commoner being elevated to a high position with a prince.

Sadge life for Nina.

Living in slums on barely any food or water.

Resulting to steal stuff to survive.

Dress as a boy to avoid being turn into slaves (and most likely raped, as her appearance is "rare")

Being sold by her own brother... (this do actually happen in RL, younger gets sold by older family members (usually happens in a 2nd or 3rd world country))

.

Alisha... was her death an "accident" or someone caused it... since it seems kinda SUS that the Prince arrives to the Princess's accident quite quickly to clean up and hide the fact the Princess had an accident... (whereas if it's normal, someone else would find the accident and then report it to others before it reaches the "higher ups", even in RL no one at the bottom reports straight to the highest older)

.

Also, is Nina... wearing double wig? her original hair is white? but her "official hair color" in covers and current is "Pink".

(unless her original hair is covered in Dust? but all the running around she do would make it hard for the dust to stay in her hair)
(or... Nina is previously wearing a white wig... and pink is her actual hair color like her blue eyes... as being "rare" appearance)
(or did she not only wear the long hair wig, but also dye her original hair pink)

And that Queen... seems even SUSer... she's purposely trying to make Nina do things the Queen knows? that Nina can't do?... does the Queen know Nina's a imposter?

(but the Queen seems to have a hatred for the (half) Prince too... I think the Queen is hating on Nina cause Nina is associated with the Prince)
(half prince... meaning the Prince and Alisha wasn't related to began with... possibly share the same father but different mothers)

Basic introductory episode. Contains an uncomfortable scene where FL's gender was revealed when the male love interest (idk if he's the ML) and a servant try to force her to change out of her ragged street wear. It's not violent, lasted very briefly, and we move on from it quickly- but just a warning to others that it's there.

The Middle Eastern(?) setup doesn't really do anything for me, it's just a setup for aesthetic ig.

Overall the usual background establishment. Didn't really catch my attention so I'll drop this here and maybe in the future I'll pick it up again if others reccomend it to me.
