It's great to see Sagara Sanosuke being introduced, expanding the character roster. They've done a decent job imo, at introducing the cast with their colorful personalities. I think they picked a decent VA for his character too.

Sagara showed a hotheaded side of himself when faced with Kenshin but I find that face off to be quite entertaining.

Not everyday we see Kenshin and co. taking in fancy meals, but it’s just like troubles never leave their side wherever they go. It was supposed to be a quiet and sweet family-time(yes, they look like one), but again a bunch of ungrateful dweebs still not in tune with the Meiji era started their thing. Though it was that way we got introduced to our character of the day, Sanosuke. That man is full of energy and is quite likeable, and just like his build-up suggests, he really does fancy fighting strong people.

Though the first meeting with Kenshin was just a coincidence, but being a fighter for hire, the second time he met Kenshin, it was purely business. Not that tough to guess who hired him to take down Kenshin, I mean very few people know his current whereabouts.. so yeah those good-for-nothing Hiruma brothers. But, Kenshin being Kenshin wasn’t into this whole duel thing, though Sanosuke’s utter dislike for imperialists like Kenshin, made him think otherwise.

Took quite a time, but the fight has already started with proper introductions, with Kenshin’s one unique reverse blade sword against Sano’s Zanbato. I mean how Sanosuke’s even carrying that sword lol. Anyways, they might conclude this next episode.

It was so comical seeing Kenshin woodcut with his sword. Yahiko sure brings a nice contrast to the dojo thanks to his quips. Though the Meiji restoration brought a lot of changes to society food was one of the more notable ones. Sano's opening fight was quite the display. Funny that the villains from that fiasco managed to escape that easily. Though as ever their plans were predictable to a fault. Wow Sano's Zanbato really suited him like a glove. A perfect fit given his personality. Looking forward to seeing how the fight between the two fares next week. But Kaoru's read of the situation sure added a lot of tension to the fight.

I’m loving Yahiko and Kaori's dynamic; their bickering and bantering make for entertaining interactions.

Those goons should've thought twice before messing with my man Sano. He's a total badass, knocking out the big man with just a forehead flick and crushing Kihei's pistol bare-handed. Sano's skills are awe-inspiring.

The anticipation for the fight with Kenshin has been building, and even though we only got a brief glimpse this week, it was impressive to see Sano take a full blow from Kenshin and come out practically unscathed. I can't wait for what's in store next week; it's going to be awesome.

Good episode! We get to see Zanza. He's pretty strong, but he's very arrogant. Kenshin will definitely win in the next episode, I'm rooting for him!

Sanosuke definitely seems like a force to be reckoned with so far, I liked the twist that it’s not that giant sword that makes him so strong, but his ability to withstand hits, I wish I would have caught that before they explained it with that foreshadowing from before when he fought those drunk guys lol.

And of course those brothers from the first episode are the villains once again, I’m sure once this is over tho they’ll learn to never mess with Kenshin again because I don’t doubt he’ll win the fight, and the fact Sanosuke broke Kihei’s gun like it was playdough was great too lol.

A great episode that's all I can say.

Sagara gets introduced and instantly wants a duel with Kenshin.
Kenshin didn't want to at first but later agreed.
I am looking forward to their fight

Sanosuke is here!! Kenshin brutish rival has made his entrance in this here remake. A grand debut taking on some drunk hypocrites outside that restaurant. Showing how tough of a guy Sanosuke is taking a stab right to his forehead like it was nothing. Knocking that big dude down with just one hand while Kenshin convinced the guy's other drunk friends it wasn't A good idea to join the fight. Sanosuke is a strong dude very well known in the underworld, carrying that gigantic sword that's basically a heavy metal club since it can't cut anything. With someone of Sanosuke strength wielding it can do some serious damage. Sanosuke taking a job from those dopey brothers we saw in the first episode to kill Kenshin since they still want Kaoru land. At least he had the honor to not let the brothers interfere, accepting this fight as his own. Since Sanosuke has that huge thing to swing around they take the fight to the river, very wise choice. Some great looking shots of the start of the fight between Kenshin and Sanosuke. Very excited to see more.

The more I watch this the more I think the action scenes will be the strenght of this anime compared to the original, everything else until now delivers, but it's just very average, specially the direction. I think that's it's weakest point. But I'm really excited to see the fights

sanosuke stole guts' sword lol, it's not the same voice actor but sanosuke sounds a lot like gojo to me. to no surprise, i prefer his old voice actor but i don't mind kaoru's anymore. animation still looks great and the fight at the end was sick. sfx made it cool as well and the music was good too. couple altered scenes, not complaining though.

Now I am in a mood for some Hotpot! All that fight and talk, the activists paid for their meal but Zanza didn't lol. Kenshin is still strong by speed but Zanza is strong for his toughness.

Why is this anime so SATISFYING to watch?

Why do all the episodes feel like it's only 5 minutes and it's over?

Is this the mark of a good anime?

How fast do you think the remake will get to the arc of ninjas and assassins whose boss was inspired by Gambit (correct me if I got something wrong)? This was the point at which I once stopped watching Samurai X and the live action adaptation, so I only know the plot up to that point.

Thanks for the answer. So, do you think they'll finish introducing the last main cast member in one next episode?

I meant Sano, since their fight isn't over yet and he hasn't joined the team. But in general, if the first cour ends at a stage that I know, it would be convenient.

Thanks for the clarification. I hardly remember the first live action I watched, but in the anime, I stopped at the moment when Kenshin and the ninja leader prepared for the very end of their confrontation. After that, I didn't have time to catch the show while it was on TV, so at some point I stopped trying.

Sagara with his Zanbato, dude's strong and he can sure take a hit. Though it's gonna take way more than that to take down Kenshin. Also Kenshin taking the hit for Kaoru was sweet.

I really like Sano's voice actor! Really fits the character. So far I love all the voice actors especially Kenshin he brings this sort of sadness to the character that I think really fits him, given what he went through and the memories he carries in his heart.

Kaoru's grandfather's ink painting has finally brought them out of poverty, though the real deal is with Sagara "Zanza" Sanosuke.

Kaoru, Yahiko and Kenshin on their reins to Sukiyaki, and a ruckus from the Democratic Rights Movement activists has Sanosuke face off against them with no trouble to spare. He's willing for another duel, with Kenshin, though he sparred with him before while finding for him as Zanza, the fighter for hire with the Himura brothers on toll.

Sanosuke, off to find Kenshin for a duel, other than doing his homework on the latter, everything about him on the minute details is a complete unknown. But since he's an Imperialist under the hatred radar of Sanosuke, Kenshin leniently accepts the duel, and dealing with the thugs' extra measure to make sure that it's a fair fight. Sanosuke, with his Sengoku era Zanbato sword, his conflict with Kenshin is both great and intense, with the trading of different blade blows, the showdown has begun.

Himura Battosai vs. Zanza, it's a fight for the ages.
