| I'm telling you, Five New Old's OP is just a straight-up banger, with the stylish visuals. Finn's wild ride leads him to a building, housed with other players just like him with the cards known as X-Playing Cards, all 52 of them possessing special, unique powers with each player only allowed to hold 1 card. Through the administrative officer Bernard, the order of King Julius Fourland having all 52 to be collected through their moonlight business of the luxury car manufacturer Pinochle Automobiles, and like it or not, Finn got himself into 1: the feud with Bobby Ball, one of the members of the infamous Klondike mafia group, also after the cards. A fixture on Finn for his appearance as Chris's sales assistant-cum-apprentice, as the police of Captain Greg Young and his assistant Sugar Pease latches onto these strange incidents. This would help Finn's Sun Fields Orphanage out of debt, and hopefully it's for the best. Finn's first mission of incidents like these under Chris's mentorship, and the suspect in question is the server from before, with his 3 of Hearts power of Rockin' Rock. The attempt to drive off the culprit by driving the car underwater to drown Robert T. Thompson, he's one of those who got the card for his needs but misused it for its power. Finn's "Neo New Nanba" power makes for a sharpshooting marksman, and his formal entrance into High Card. I guess it's logical that the 2 of Spades (or any suit) are the lowest valued cards, so it's considered the weakest. Still though, if Finn can play his Card right, the lowest valued card can make and break the highest. Looking forward to what Finn will contribute to High Card. Meychan's ED is playful, a great song to bop to. As of this moment, this show is showing more promise, and I don't mind it at all being the underrated dark horse of the season. |

| Guy gets almost trapped in a car underwater like a dumb dumb and makes fun of also doesn't thank the guy that saves him. They got some pretty rude people in this show. Also he saying the got to use your head remake. |

VIJAY LOOKS SO GOOD IN ANIMATION AS WELL CANT WAIT TO SEE MORE OF HIM AAAA same goes to Wendy they did my girl justice now we only need to wait for Leo PLEASE MAKE HIM DO AN AMAZING POWERFUL ENTRANCE i'm begging you high card producers in the end this episode was also enjoyable can't wait for Chriss/Finn combo to grow closer because they are actually a really good partners (trust me) now waiting another week for next episode i think i will pass out alexa play trickster by five new old thank you ♥ |

squeekeez said: I mean, maybe???? but this card chose him and I think Finn isn't this type of guy who likes/takes interest in weaponry... his Neo New Nambu is actually pretty cool and as we know and saw in the two episodes people that get cards can easily manipulate the powers so,,, he is more strong and confident with Neo New Nambu than with any other weapon i thinkFinn would be more effective if they just gave him a semi automatic handgun 💀💀💀 but well we will see, Finn will surely grow through the series and we will see how he is the black horse with his 2 of spades card |

| Pretty fun premise so far, feels like your normal action flick. Finn is recruited into High Card, masked with the business of Pinochle Automobiles. For Finn, it's all about the money for now, to pay off the orphanage debt, but we'll see if there's more meaningful attachment later on. Also, it seems that Finn's 2 of spades is the weakest level card, which would make the ace most likely the strongest. Not as thrilling as the first episode, but it still holds up as one of the better shows so far this season. Looking forward to more. |
| Opening - Finally something interesting this season cause majority of stuff is generic [songs a I hear them often in animemusicquiz] Ending - I love that final visuals when those 5 characters are singing along, so simple, so cute and so nice. The episode itself was fine, it was mainly first missiong + teaching about the world/cards etc. at first when I've seen the map I thought it was copy-pasted from Black Clover but after checking it is actually different x). |
| the op and its visuals were really good. finn got a regular ass ability but it will definitely help him (i hope). the ed was really simple but wholesome. looking like a good dark horse of the season so far. |

| I do wonder if there's more to Finn's card than just shooting in a straight line (don't bullets already go in a straight line?) maybe they meant it more that he's very accurate but regardless hope there's more to his power than just shooting in a straight line. I'm liking the action and it looks like Finn will slowly bond with this "strange" cast of characters. |
| Man I was gonna pass on this because it didn’t look like there were any waifus and I’m at 40 shows this season but I am so glad I picked this up. It’s def going in the top 10 you NEED to watch vid. Really fun, wacky and over the top action, great art and animation, a unique premise etc etc. feels like balance unlimited mixed with Kingsmen |

| IMO can’t judge yet. I like that the show goes deeper into the game of cards and its meanings. For now it looks like a shounen with the tropes we all know. Yeah English setting and characters deliver a gentleman spy movie vibes |

| I can't get over how slick the characters designs are, they've got heaps of personality!! You can instantly tell what kind of people they are with just one look and so far that has held true to even the most minor of characters. The show itself seems to be shaping up like a good time with the charming character interactions, playing card power system and buds of mystery. |

| Loving this so much! This might be one of my favorites this season. I love the concept, the music, the animation, and I love where this is going! Can't wait to see what's in store up ahead! :D Also is it just me or are people sleeping on this one? |

| MANNERS, MAKETH, A MAN Finn basically has a sniper rifle with him at all times right in his pocket. Sure it's not quite on the level of fricken' IMMORTALITY, but it's probably going to come in really handy later nonetheless. |

| High Card really going for the high stakes huh. I'm really digging the style of this show. From the music to the opening and ending songs, from the characters and their behaviour to the setting and the presentation, it has so far in two episodes quite surpassed my expectations. This is quite promising I must say. PS: The fact that the main character sing the ending song is a really nice touch. |

| Finn finally managed to land a job for himself where he can also help the other guy with costs and whatnot. I really liked the chasing part with the cars, when Chris really went underwater with the car and Finn shot the bullets exactly through the window which saved him, was awesome to see. I still love how normal playing cards are being used as weapons in this show, which is an unique concept. |

| Finn is now a member of High Card and has also landed a job as an apprentice at a luxury car manufacturer Pinochle Automobiles which is used as front for their operations. Finn is paired with Chris who is quite the ladies man in addition to having the "Calories High" power. We all knew what Chris was doing with the girl in the backseat of the car. Both Chris and Finn were tasked with retrieving the 3 of hearts from a local street gang. The 3 of hearts grants the user Rockin' Rock which makes him impermeable to physical damage. Finn's 2 of Spade's Gun had no effect on Rockin' Rock so Chris used his car as a battering ram and drove him into the river. Finn used his enhanced marksman skills to get Chris out of the vehicle while he was trapped underwater and successfully retrieved the 3 of hearts. Turns out the person who was using the stolen X-Playing card was the bartender who was tricked into working with a local gang as muscle. The 2 of Spades may be the weakest card depending on what game you are playing, but some games the duces can serve as wildcards. This show does have a Kingsman vibe except its set in a fictional universe that has its own charm. |

I think the "damage" visible of Finn's card is just cosmetic. also, his bullets didn't seem to be impeded by going underwater, so "shooting in a straight line" without any kind of drop-off might be the actual power. |

Has a pretty conventional Hollywood blockbuster-ish feel to it, which feels surprisingly unique for an anime to have. I can very clearly see the Kingsman inspiration that's all over it. Don't see it being anything too deep but it'll probably be a really fun ride. The only thing that I'd really like to see addressed is more interesting use of the power system. I get that it needs time to build momentum with introducing more high-octane powers as it goes, but having a guy turn people to marbles set the bar really high and the others aren't quite reaching it. I don't actually have much of an issue with Finn's being just a regular revolver like some others in the thread seem to have. Not only does it fit with his card's suit being considered the "weakest", but Finn's talent of very keen precision as a combination with it is something I can see being ripe with potential for creative solutions to tight spots. That being said, I think this episode does a really poor job of displaying that potential, with a villain of the week that completely nullifies his ability along with him not really having any impact on the fight outside of getting Chris out of the car once the fight is over. Hoping that he gets more opportunities to show off his utility later. I have much more of a problem with Chris's ability, Calories High. It's a really boring ability for one of the main characters to possess, and is also really strange as a proper introduction to the power system with how it doesn't appear to have a tangible affect on Chris's fights until they end. I still have very high hopes for High Card. Its setup is still really entertaining and I can see it having loads of potential to be a high octane hidden gem of the season, though I can equally see a possibility of it wasting said potential if it can't ramp things up from here. |

| Gonna drop this show... The character designs are kind of offensively effeminate and it feels like they shot their budget on the first episode. The action and animation in this was very weak. Add in more dragged out "I grew up in a foster home" sympathy fishing scenes and this one just feels really lame to watch. Cute premise but you can tell they're not going to do much with it. |
| Chris just casually woke Finn up at 5:30 AM with that loud car horn. I was amazed that none of Finn's neighbors woke up and knocked loudly on his door because his "guest" was disturbing them... But Finn's got some cool skills! His eyesight was so sharp that he could tell where Chris' car had sunk. I think that's really nice because it means he can spot or range attacks from afar... or maybe spot enemy bases from afar, etc. ED sounds very fitting with the anime's atmosphere and the squad look awesome with those sunglasses! (~˘︶˘*)~ Can't wait to meet the crazy rich boy. (Oh crazy rich... is his balance unlimited too?) |
