Damn, it's scary how far Shadows in this show goes to mentally torture others. And of course Shinpei gets caught in the middle of it by yet another unfortunate event.

Fighting for survival in the middle of the sea, it feels like this episode highlights the dangers of any timeline they're in.

It was like that Spiderman pointing spiderman meme, the whole conversation between Ushio and her shadow lol. Anyways we did get the whole story behind how Ushio actually died and her shadow survived, all because of a vain attempt to save Shiori from drowning. This kinda explained about those jumbled and incomplete memories of Ushio’s shadow, but sure they got back all of a sudden just at the right time. This flashback or replay thing is quite handy though, I wonder if she can play back that memory from 24th, back in the shrine as she too was there in the previous loop.

Not sure how that mother figure or whatever came in at the last moment, as Shinpei stated this indeed was just a replay. Also hope they didn’t skip around anything this time around as they did last time, as many were pointing.

Man what an insane episode. Answered several questions I had.

So ushio’s multiple versions are actually time travellers. Multiversal type situation. That explains why she doesn’t have the usual shadow qualities. Still wondering where her abilities come from tho.

The shadow “God” or “mother” whatever you wanna call her also probably can now travel to where shinpei is based on the mark she left with shinpei in the past.

Animation was a lot better this week after being really wonky last week. Pacing was better as well. Really really looking forward to next week. It’s so hard waiting for these episodes on a weekly basis lol by far best of the season.

ちょっと!今私が喋っとんねんっ!

This is getting really trippy. I'm guessing Shadow Ushio didn't really die when Shadow Shiori attempted to kill her, hence Shadow Ushio waking up at the 24th. Still no explanation as to how she travels through time, which makes the mystery better.

What does Shadow Ushio think seeing her own naked body in front of her lol.

Shadows are terrifying since they never stop following you. I'm curious how the mark on Shinpei's hand will affect their investigation into the shadow mystery.

Another masterful ending to an episode. Not quite a cliffhanger, but it does give you more than enough to leave you ready and eager to see how events will unfold in next week's episode.

Great episode! It was funny to see Ushio talking to her shadow in that video xD. We got to see Shiori talking to Ushio about the shadow she saw and we also got to see Ushio getting copied by her shadow...
Ushio found her shadow in the bathtub lol.
That other Ushio shadow looked pretty creepy... but the real shadow of Ushio disposed of it very fast.
They both were trying to save Shiori together.

They are going to go back in time with Ushio to watch a replay of the past!
And wow that was eventful...

Looking forward to the next episode!

Imagine being welcomed home by a clone. In the bathroom, that is. Lol, I loved their antics before the episode went darker.

The Mother seems to be aware of the various loops apparently.

Its even more scary since she's a little child and I was completely expecting her to be held back by the Real Ushio.

Was kinda puzzled when the real Ushino talked normally to the shadow Ushino underwater. I guessed she's a master of underwater talk technique, but maybe the shadow Ushino just knew what she's saying without hearing anything. Anyway, that was a good episode. Can't wait for the next one.

The only way whre Ushio's smartphone can be unlocked by her real self and her Shadow, that's just as creepy to realize that Shadow Ushio being in front of both Shinpei and Sou is only part of the mystery being a nicetie, unlike the other Shadows. What a record.

The record that dates a week before July 24th, and with Shadow Ushio appearing for the first time where Shiori already knew of the Shadows existence. But Ushio was unrelentingly digging her grave further when Shadow Ushio appeared before her very eyes in fanservice mode, and thus says the same for Shiori.

The real and Shadow Ushio on their own journey to find Shiori's shadow, but actually meeting one in the flesh, that's even more creepy to learn of its characteristics (i.e. the Shadows' weakness being the literate shadow). Also, now it's easier to understand from the POV of the Shadow of the copying characteristic that if the real body is gone, the copy will replace it easily. It's uncanny similarity always baits the hook.

And uncovering the day of Ushio's death on July 21st by rewinding Shadow Ushio's memories, while the real Ushio can't be saved, at least Shinpei and Sou now know how it all went down with Shiori and the Shadow that abducted her in the ocean's deep waters, and how the real Ushio sacrficed herself to save the real Shiori, as the faulty Shadow Ushio was powerless against Shadow Shiori whom replaced as her resurfaced, thwarting everyone to be copied to death.

HOO BOY...the white-haired character will become very prevalent in the episodes to come, marking Shinpei for life in a cat-and-mouse chase.

Legit, this episode is severely needed if you still don't understand how the whole Shadow thing works. And this is pretty much the prologue for the series, now we see what's really cooking beneath the waves.

Holy fuck, what an episode. But before I get to the meaty part, I just gotta say, 2 Ushios is too much for the heart, her personality is just so goddamn adorable and overall just vibes. Shadow Ushio's abilities are also pretty sick.

Wait, so as long as the shadow is not killed yet, they can make more than one copies? Damn. I wonder why our Shadow Ushio is faulty though, cause that 2nd copy clearly wasn't.

I don't know why, but I really like shadow Shiori, creepy as fuck, but her villainy, is just really entertaining, what a menace. That jumpscare though Jesus.

Heine, what the fuck, though Shinpei's right eye is hers to begin with, and their eyes did meet at the festival as he was looping, so this ain't all that surprising, but still, what the fuck. Can't wait for the next episode.

Another great episode!!!! It's kinda scary watching at night haha. And those creepy faces of Shiori-chan, your scaring me and now I can't go outside.

We now know how real Ushio-chan died. And how she and her shadow are working that time. They're actually friends. Though yes that Kage Shiori just.... And what's with that in the end. I thought it was just a video or replay of the memories. That is the god right that white haired girl. What's with that!!!! Maybe since she's the god she can control any stuffs regarding shadows.

But oh well. It really is a great episode! I'm glad the anims is 24 episodes too so it'll still be airing this summer. It's perfect cause it's summer too in the setting of the story.

We are getting some answers but more mysteries are arising. There's some explanation then more confusion. It seems they are gonna take their sweet time in fully presenting us the story, I thought this festival mystery will be solved in the first cour but don't think so. The way this is going I'm hoping for a satisfying conculusion. It still seems we are just getting started, we know so little about the shadows and it's mystery.

We finally saw how Ushio died and damn Ushio-Shadow's powers are badass. I hope it's explained why Ushio's shadow didn't kill her original and why does she have that hair powers.

Now that I think about it, Ushio died for nothing, Shiori still ended up getting killed and getting replaced by it's shadow and for some reason the Ushio shadow wasn't able to do anything after learning that the Shiori is the shadow one, it seems she lost her memories and power for some reason, hope it's explained in future episodes as to why she lost them.

Pretty great episode overall, 5/5.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

so this episode was kind of difficult to watch. I was hoping so deeply that maybe somehow by some miracle Shiori survived and was hiding. But in reality I knew I was watching a tragedy unfold :(

The shadow's seem to be pure evil and I still don't really get their agenda.

Also I remember them explaining that you cannot be copied by a shadow twice, so I am really perplexed how in the beginning of the episode a 3rd Ushio was copied of the 2 Ushio's already there.

Can't wait to learn more!

Because Ushio's shadow is defective. It is not complete. Because of this, the othder shadow could copy Ushio again.

We finally have a grasp on how the first death actually happened.
Also, I have a theory on how the show will end. They will probably have an emotional scene at the end where the "mother" shadow will tell Shinpei, if he kills mother, Ushio will no longer exist either. Then Ushio will force Shinpei to kill her either way. Just a theory, but this is usually how shows like these end.

I know that Ushio's Shadow is an abnormal one and all, but I thought it was established that the Shadows as a collective could only copy any individual human being once. So, how was that Shadow they ran into at the pharmacy able to (incompletely) copy Ushio as well?

That aside, Shadow Shiori's true form looks like a character out of Tokyo Ghoul, and that moment where she grabbed Shinpei in the memory was a real strong cliffhanger to end on: I suspect that the mark she left on his arm is gonna be something similar to the Black Spot Davy Jones marks Jack Sparrow with in the second Pirates of the Caribbean film (i.e. a means of magically tracking him so they can always find him).

Well . That’s quite the backstory. Kinda trippy to be hanging out with your own shadow, but heck, you know she’s a good one AND she’s got her memories and powers back. I’m pretty certain the girl we saw at the end was the “Mother Shadow” given its eye color.

Awesome episode as always. Looking forward to next week.

Yeah, that flashback was definitely rough to watch, it really hurts knowing there’s no way to save the original Shiori or Ushio (that we know of) and it’s made very apparent by seeing everything go down, man me and my homies hate shadows that aren’t shadow Ushio lol. And wow, the final boss showed herself too, now she’s aware of Shinpei and that’s pretty scary lol, I hope some good horror comes from this.

And we also learned a bit of new info about shadows, the fact they need to kill the original to continue living explains the legend and their behavior besides just trying to replace the real people. And lol Shadow Ushio and the real Ushio interacting was fun to watch, who knew you could get along so well with yourself lol, at least when you have a bubbly personality like Ushio.

honestly the copy seemed like...incomplete? it seemed more like a unintelligent monster than a proper shadow. maybe that's what happens if they try to copy a second time?

Amazing episode this one really felt like just 5 minutes passed all of the eps feel like that but this one seemed like it passed as quickly as it came, i liked ushio’s banter with her shadow and her shadow’s crying broke my heart :( also sou and shinpei’s scene were they both cried was emotional and shiori’s shadow is a great villain so far and what’s better is that she appears as a child which i always loved when characters are darker minded than their appearance
