Q: "Why do you rate some anime so high when it's clearly the water my dog bathes in?"

I just rate based on my enjoyment of watching the show at the time. The exception would be I only would give 10s if a show is extremely good (to me) and a clear classic of our time. And sometimes I might give a 10 simply because I just like the IP (Precure for example). Other than that, below a 10 would be on a scale of enjoyment...mostly.

Q: "Okay, but this anime was clearly d*g crap. Did you really enjoy this enough to give it, say, a 6?"

I can put up with garbage anime up to a point. It's rare I would drop a show and doubly rare I would revive it out of my dropped pile to give it another chance. With that said, if an anime is trash but I still end up watching it until the end then I consider rating it a badge of honor for getting me to watch the whole thing in the first place.

Q: "Your fav anime and characters are strange..."

A: Well MAL caps you at 10 and maybe 20 if you pay them each month (geez, thanks MAL?) but I have way more anigirls and shows that I'd like to showcase. Some of the anime, like ToHeart2 and Horimiya, just hold something special to me regarding youth and school life. There's way more like D.C Capo and Tsuki ga Kirei that I did not include but there's a cap. And Utawarerumono is a series that I really like for its world building, mystery, signature artstyle from Aquaplus, and iconic music.

Q: "Which Precure would you fug?"

Kururun.

Q: "You have a lot of anime on-hold. What gives?"

I think a lot of it was paused since my high school/early college days. I'm going to have to start from the beginning on almost all of them. And then there are just shows that I end up pausing and one of 2 things happens -- I don't want it to end, so I leave it at the last episode then I forget about finishing it after months go by or 2 I end up picking up another show that gets my attention more so it ends up going in the on-hold pile.

Other than that, I used to read physical manga all the time when I was younger but that's not something I tracked. My tracked manga as of this year (2024) is inaccurate. Needless to say, whatever the true number is, it's much lower than my anime stats simply because I am mostly an anime watcher. But I am reading more manga lately.
