To the old and new users of this small yet big corner of the anime community, to the mutuals and strangers of this godforsaken yet continuously blessed webpage, welcome. And lastly, to the staff behind the running of this site, y’all are some of the best people. 我祝你们一帆风顺!
On friend requests, I’m currently not accepting any; that may change in the future, or maybe not. To the people whom are in limbo on the request list, I apologize.
Regarding anime, manga, and so forth, I’m consuming them at my own pace. No more committing myself to watching 30+ shows a season on top of non-seasonals and/or reading 5 volumes of 10 or so series at the same time and every time while also keeping up with ongoing series. I guess too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, as the saying goes, I think?
Other than that, nothing much more. Leave a comment if you like: the good, the bad, the ugly, questions; I'll handle them with my utmost dignity.
Just on the scorings/ratings, if you’re curious, I believe the scoring of these titles is subjective. People can score based on their own thoughts, feelings, viewpoints, and analyses. However, I do differentiate between what’s clearly defined as a “good” series and a “bad” series by one’s own discretions of standards. In other words, enjoyment alone doesn’t qualify a series as being “good” and vice versa. Because choosing to analytically and critically view a medium such as anime can also be a form of enjoyment; a way of stimulating one’s own beliefs and thinking. But also, I believe that having a critical mindset is especially imperative in today’s world and of jaded minds.
Wishing you a year filled with joy, health, success, and unforgettable moments.
Here's to new beginnings and fulfilling dreams. Cheers! 🥂
Happy New Year! 🎉✨
Hello, Sozin! No problem, friend! I understand honestly. Sometimes I decide to wait before reading messages too, so that I can give a good answer in a more proper time.
Ah, this is something that was an issue for me in some parts, the beginning especially. I guess it's the way the story is told - it moves at its own pacing, and it's like we are in the middle of something that wasn't explained more openly at first. Pandora Hearts is a story that grew on me, and gained much consistence; but I admit I was puzzled in the first arcs. Everything starts in full force. I was invested in the characters, and they grew more as the story progressed, but I understand that the change of tones (sometimes more dramatic than it should), and the fast pacing can make this difficult. For me, it's about how the story shows itself, making some dots tricky to connect. I'd really appreciate to read it again someday to grasp some parts better, since I really enjoyed it! Thanks for explaining your point.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! May you have a Happy New Year!
Yea that was my main worry as well going into Fujimoto's one shots. Heck, that's my main worry whenever I watch anime now.
A good majority of production companies, producers, and mangakas want to create anime, manga, and light novels that will be popular (easy money, I don't blame them), so they rely on overly used formulas and generic themes when writing, thus yielding a ton of stuff.
I sent a fr!
That's fine. I don't expect people to respond right away. Plus, I've been busy outside of animanga.
Glad to see that you enjoyed Look Back! I personally enjoy his one shots more.
It is a work Fujimoto made to reconcile his feelings of helplessness during the Tohoku earthquake. The feeling of helplessness and constant passage of time which establish a genuine sense of progression for the film. It further reflects how he thoroughly believes the raw power that art has. What art does is give us a chance to resonate with commonalities or differences.
Do you have Discord by any chance? I plan on learning Mandarin and it'll be convenient if I could ask you questions. Well, it's more convenient for me to message people there.
sometimes i forget that the people i come across online might not be as far as i think they are... we live in the same state. super random comment but it just caught me off guard seeing someone on here who doesn't actually live across the country... or the world 🤣🤣
