A dream? I didn't think so. I think he was just remembering something from the past.

Was the whole series a flash back of his memories up until that time? Did we go back to episode one where he was sitting in front of his campfire? Either way, great series!

What a pimp.

Am I the only one reminded of the Professor Layton games? For one, Tortov Roddle and Professor Layton look like they were separated at birth, except Roddle is taller.

Anyway, nice little series. 8/10

Well that was sweet, it seems like his remembering that lady with that pressed flower on that book. That was a lot of "that", LOL.

Lovely little story.

Clearly exemplifies that simplicity can be charming, imaginative and whimsical without needing neither a complex narrative nor a lot of dialogue. It speaks for itself, in a wonderful short reminiscent of a children’s storybook waiting for someone to immerse in its quirky world. The music set the mood at every moment, and made me have a tinge of nostalgia.

A truly captivating ride.
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

This one might be my favorite out of the original six (probably not going to watch the three specials yet but I'll definitely get them done before March ends). I was kinda waiting for this series to hit with emotion like Tsumiki no Ie did, and while I wouldn't say it was as strong as that work was, it did still worked. Honestly, in a lot of ways I liked this better than Tsumiki no Ie.

The OST was pretty perfect all throughout as well.

@Mr_Shnb

I honestly don't get where this comes from in regard to Tortov Roddle. I've seen this commentary before a few times, but I really have to ask...why? What's so deep and complex about Tortov Roddle?

Nothing.

It's an incredibly simplistic anime that isn't held up by deep themes, but instead by potentially resonant themes and its titular character, accompanied by interesting artwork, an exemplary OST and simplistic, sometimes meaningless surrealism which culminates in a strange but engrossing atmosphere.

There's nothing particularly deep about Tortov Roddle, and it has never tried to pretend otherwise. This isn't Serial Experiments Lain we're talking about here.

Exactly. I saw a comment where someone said "2deep4me" and I simply just stated that Mushishi is a lot deeper.

OT: This was enjoyable. The art was unique and trippy. The OST was nice and calming. The only complaint was that there wasn't much story to it and can only really be called a "one and done with" series.

I give it a 6/10 which is the same score I gave AoT and a higher score than Code Geass. Yes I enjoyed this more than CG.

This series is my newest favorite! I love the style and designs. This episode in particular hit on a sense of loss. I got the sense that the first part was a dream, but what happened to her? It seems like he is on a journey because of some type of loss, a sense of melancholy. I can't wait to watch the specials.

Was the girl real or not? Because the flowers seems to be withered. Oh well I really enjoyed this series and some parts were very weird like the dream he had of his pet pig growing, and the Rabbit people. Lemme just say every episode was wacky.

I enjoyed it and would like some more, so it's a 7/10.

Not much to say about this aside from how I kinda liked the OST and how nice it'd be to hear that while travelling. The art being pretty surreal without being visually off-putting is good too.

The last short was my favorite. I can only imagine the feelings he felt when he looked at that wilted rose. He must've thought about how it could've led to something more had he decided to attempt to settle down with her.

art was so good. story is imaginative (but not as good as The House of Small Cubes). Also too much of intertitles were present.
overall I liked it. I am fascinated, so i am going to check out directors other works too

It seems to be a scene from his past that he was reminiscing. Overall, it had some great episodes but a couple of them were average although all of them could have been heavily improved with a slight addition to the runtime. Time for the specials now.

You can't go one experimental/abstract short series, without seeing a couple 10/10 reviews lol...

It was fine overall, nothing extraordinary, and definitely nothing deserving of top marks. 6/10.
