Hello everyone, and welcome to my little corner of MAL. Guess this is the section where I talk about my Otaku journey. Hmmm let me see...where to begin. Think I'll touch on key nostalgic moments for me.
Well to start off I am an old school anime fan. I first started watching around 1985, with the children's anime programs Superbook and Flying House being my entryway into the genre. They would air on a basic local TV channel here in my area. Gosh I must have only been around 3 years old at the time. Although being so young I didn't even know I was watching anime, let alone that it was made in Japan. My next exposure to it happened on Nick Jr when Nickelodeon would air an anime series called Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics. This must have been around 1987. Come to think of it I don't even know if Nick Jr was even an established program block yet. Then once the 90's hit I had fond memories of getting up Saturday mornings on my days off from school to catch anime movies on the Sci-fi channel. Back then they called it Saturday Anime. Project A-KO and Galaxy Express 999 were quite the treat on there. It was around this time that I finally was starting to realize that what I had been watching all this time wasn't made in America. Of course once anime became popular enough to find at rental stores such as Blockbuster Video, you can bet I was all over those VHS tapes. Battle Arena Toshinden being one of my standout favorite rentals. A few years after that I ended up discovering a little title called Dragonball which would air on Fox Sunday mornings at 6am. I loved the series so much that I would make trips to Suncoast at the mall just to see if they had any VHS tapes of it. Tracking them down was hard as back then nobody even knew what a Dragon Ball was. However I was able to eventually acquire all of the 13 episode VHS tapes that were dubbed. Then later on in that decade I would wake up very early to record shows such as Samurai Pizza Cats (also on Fox), along with Sailor Moon on the USA Action Extreme Team morning block. I knew of Sailor Moon before then, but until the USA Network started airing it around 1997 I never actually got a chance to watch it. Couple years after that anime finally went mainstream when Cartoon Network debuted many series on Toonami, of which I would watch from time to time. Outlaw Star being one of the best in my opinion. Toonami wasn't as big of a deal for me as it was for others, since I already had been watching anime for a long time at that point. Anyway, then during my college years around 2005 I would catch anime late nights on a digital cable channel called Encore Action. Would stay up past midnight to catch series such as Vandread and Street Fighter 2 the TV series.
After that I guess you could say the rest is history. As an adult I sadly don't have the time to watch anime as I once used to. When I do though, like as with many, I do it via streaming services these days. I will buy DVDs and Blu-rays of the series that I really like of course. And even though anime is now more popular and easier than ever to watch with everything practically being at our fingertips thanks to the internet, I still look back fondly at those early days in my childhood of watching and hunting for anime. It was a simpler time and I loved every minute of it!
Along with being a big fan of anime I am also a lifelong gamer. Been playing since the late 80's. My favorite systems being the PC-Engine, Game Boy, Playstation 2 and Dreamcast. My other hobbies include fishing, drawing and cooking. With the latter being my current job profession. I guess that's all the major geeky stuff about me. Send a comment my way if you want to chat. Have an awesome day! :)

Are you reading any manga currently?
I guess so, just imagine all the shedding and care you need to take with their fur. Also special nutrition to keep it luster
but i don't think that's possible because luffy were supposed to be the next joyboy/nika, and he's going to achieve what the previous sun god failed.
As for the song, it's the one where Master Asia and Donom first meet. It also plays when they push up that high-rise building with their fists.
I am driving Mitsubishi Pinin 4wd 2gdi, I think it is 2000 or 2002. That car is with me for like 4-5 month already...
Very happy with that Car! Very good at rain and snow, but you have to get education about that model.
Yeah old school anime are my favorite, you now it all started with tv shows like Sailor Moon and Dragonballz, but then came tv series like Mazinger and many other mecha sseries that I am searching and looking for... Most of them I have already found and they were on my hdd, but as it always happens terrible mistake and all the data
from my hdd was vanished... I thought to restore that data, but it is a little bet uncomfortable...
So what are your favorite anime series of 80-90th Gundam or Macros or Galaxy Express, maybe Cpt Harlock?
Or maybe you will remind me some animes that I had lost and are searching for...
Just fixed my car engine, put gasoline in car and started enjoin the ride...
And you know what - me like shining riding the car, and on roundobound some nice person
hitsm me in left rear corner... In police station they said that it my fault, and gave me penalty...
Not much like 30$ but my head is now in a big pain, my mood is still on, but now my enshurance
will not fix my car...
Shit, but stil glad to find some fellows here, especialy ones that watched old anime series.
What About your day?
As for my uncle Rey, he would introduce me to video games, with the Playstation 2 being my first ever console, and the first games I ever played were Twisted Metal: Black and Final Fantasy 7. I started watching anime on Toonami when I was eight years old, and even as I got older, I wanted to collect the DBZ VHS tapes from my local dollar store, but the issue was I had no job, as I was a kid in school at that time.
Then came the high school era of my life, where I would get back into anime, and then the idea of wanting to be an anime youtuber would become a thing for me, as soon as I got a job, I would save tons of money for my computer and equipment. As of now, my uncles aren't big into anime like they were back in their teens, but they still play video games, and they tend to play World of Warcraft and Hearthstone.
Mostly coping but yeah, I hope so too.
A lot really, much to read as well as to watch (especially tons of old series from 80s to 2000s). Sadly, as of now, I'm not getting enough time as I used to before 2020 TT
Too bad you've changed the profile photo. That Yawara pic was looking so good though. Forgive me, for I'm too weak against retro aesthetics.
Welp, take care, Senpai.
My favorite One Piece arc has got to be the one with Chopper's backstory, made me cry a lot, i love Alabasta too, that fight with Crocodile was absolutely amazing.
Also I like Skypiea, I don't get why it's so hated, I love the funny moments and it's pretty enjoyable.
I will watch everything that is airing or get to it eventually with time. Witch Watch looks like Burning the witch.
Sometimes I wish I had more DVDs, unfortunately I don’t have a lot of space nor extra money to spend. I also don’t usually have the opportunity to use them much, since it’s easier to access them from my computer directly. But I still think physical media should be maintained, and it’s nice to own something concrete to show my appreciation for these things. Which reminds me that we gave away all our VHS tapes after we got rid of our VCR, but I still kind of wish we had one. Something about the feeling of using them and the video quality of the tapes is nice to me. I think a lot of anime are made more enjoyable for me by watching them on VHS even if it’s just a rip from somewhere. But that’s just a personal thing, DVDs still look better for some series a lot of the time.
And with that, we have come full circle to a cartoon about combatant cats.
