So, we can confirm that the shady instructor wants to poison Lilan :/

Not as great as the past two episodes, but still, the plot is progressing... It seems that this series is composed of the following structure:

2 slow episodes
2 epic episodes
2 okay episodes
2 slow episodes
1 recap.....

Lilan refuses to fly... Maybe it's because she can sense all the danger and implications that will trouble Erin if she can fly?

Anyway, instead of giving orders, Erin leave everything to Lilan's will, in order to give her freedom...

Next episode, Oujuus are getting poisoned (guess who... <_<) and Erin meet that Sezan warrior once again....

The last 3 episodes were top notch, including this one of course, which was just epic once again. Nothing more to say, except that I want to see how Ial and Erin interact in the next ep.

1) He doesn't necessarily want to.. he's order to.
2) I think it's because Lilan doesn't want to do anything without Erin.

I lol'd when Lilan started flapping her wings when Erin showed her to.

Meh, I think he wants too...he's an evil bastard. I don't really like the show's attempts to make him out to be innocent because of teenage trauma, and I'd especially be angry if he ends up either leaving with Erin, or saving her.

As for the episode, on the whole, I liked it, but Erin's attempt at reverse-psychology seemed ridiculously transparent.

I am aware that he wants to poison Lilan, but I don't think he will do that. It was good episode.

So Damiya is the man with an evil plan, so that white flower confirmed it for whom Kiriku is working.

I've been enjoying this show very much so far. So no, this should not be taken as an overly serious nit over the quality of the show.

It kinda bugged me that at the end, Erin gets teary eyed on Lilan's back because she finally can feel whenever Lilan really wants to fly. Here's the thing. She has a saddle. She has her flight gear. She even has a little helmet. What she sorely need are goggles. Any good aviator worth her salt should realize very quickly that flying through the air without goggles equals dry eyeballs. :P

That is all.

"Slow episode"? I guess a bit, only because it took a while for Lilan to want to fly again. And, also 'again', Erin figured out why she wouldn't fly and how to eventually get her to do so.

Still not a fan of Kilik. And too bad Ial isn't a bit younger - then I could see him with Erin. XD Though I don't think she'll end up with anyone, since this series does so well without romance, and is amazing just the way it is.

Absolutely. (I have super sensitive eyes that get dry quickly, so I was really aware of this, too!) Plus, there's all sorts of stuff that can fly into your eyes, though that'd be much less of a problem than dry eyes, of course.

It's never a good idea to entrust a secret to the idiot brothers. The headmistress should have added anyone who revealed the secret will fed to a wild Ohju or whatever man-eating animal available.

Let's entrust the most important secret in the academy to the two brothers who aern't even enrolled. Someone explain this logic to me? Is there a spot on the beast lord's neck that's really sensitive and makes them go berserk?

White flower in Kirku's box? He must be working for that bastard Damiya. Makes sense since he's clearly working against the queen. Bastards.

So Kirik was given an order to kill all the beast lords? Why on Earth would they want that?! Isn't the reason that the queen has power over the Duke supposed to be represented by the fact she controls the Beast Lords, which are dominant over the Touda? Well whatever, doubt he is going to do that, considering that he seems to be juxtaposing Erin to his sister. Gonna guess that he is going to snap sooner or later and join "team Erin"

He's working for whomever was collecting the Touda eggs, most likely they're trying to murder every single beast-lord in order to ensure that the capital won't be able to fight back.

Lilan is the most kawaii creature in anime, kys if you disagree. Other than that, I'm interested to know the full history of Kirik's past.

Lilan troubled Erin a bit before flying again. The poor girl was confused no doubt, flying was a new experience to her as much as it was for Erin, and the way she was being ordered around didn't get to her. But fortunately Erin realized it, and once again they grew closer to each other. They can now fly freely, and it was as beautiful as the first time, I just hope my heart gets used to it because I'm getting too excited.

But I hated the condescending way Kiriku talked to her, saying that she would never be able to, that she can't deviate from the "norm", it was infuriating. But I loved to see Erin standing her ground, she is a strong-willed girl, and I loved to see his bewilderment after seeing her fly on Lilan's back not once, but twice!

And he got an order to poison the Beast-Lords of Kazalm, I wondered for what reason he was there, but I guess it is to ruin it for some reason. When he saw that flower he said it was "typical" coming from "that person", and Damiya is the only one that comes to mind, but if it's him, I don't know why he would want to kill the Beast-Lords, time will tell though.

And it seems that on top of being mistreated, his sister was also poisoned by those that were "taking care" of them, and they were Wajyaku too, so I don't know why he's a Saigamul, but I guess he had his revenge against that family, poisoning them too.

I hated Nukku and Mokku for what they did
They can't keep their mouth shut, easily bribed
I thought they're better than this

Also that Saigamul is annoying
They must get rid of him soon

Once again what a nice ending
I like Erin & Lilan's relationship, they're friends or a family not master & pet

Next ep, Ial after 8 years still looks so young

Why the hell would Esal be ecstatic about Erin riding and controlling Lilian? Why would Esal encourage Erin to train Lilan even more? Also, if a wounded beast-lord is arriving to the school and Esal wants to prevent Lilan's flight from being seen, why would she still participate in Lilan's flight training? All of this is endangering Erin, Lilan, and the school, so I don't get how Esal is compliant in all of this. Going further back, I'm uncertain why Lilan's wings weren't clipped. Are beast-lords in Ryoza's kingdom assumed to be flightless trophies?

Lastly, I don't get why Kirik's adoptive parents (?) killed his sister. Didn't they want what was essentially slaves? What would killing her prove? Was it due to the threat of the siblings moving out? If so, then damn that's petty.

Well, I wasn’t as far off as I was beginning to think I was with my speculations tied to the calamity. Was wrong that “Jue” was of the mist people, but in a way I was correct that “Jue” was the reason for the calamity. It’s really interesting to revisit the mythology now that we have essentially the full story. They did a great job there alluding to the truth, but keeping it just far enough away.
All in all, I’m really happy to get the whole history lesson finally. It answers so much in terms of how all the tradition and code came about, and opens up a ton of new theories for me and pathways for the show. Usually I dislike info dumps in favor of showcasing through the show, but this one felt very natural due to the way that it was framed through oral tradition. It’s also this framing that makes some of the moments that don’t work quite right (like Je joining the king’s side so swiftly) not be as much of an issue due to how stories like this would be told. If that makes sense.
Anyways, all that aside, it’s a fascinating and brutal story that gets told. The sequence of the Touda and Beast-Lords succumbing to their bloodlust was crazy intense. It’s not hard to believe that an event like that could be mythologized the way that it did. I also think we can draw comparisons to Je and Erin herself in the trust they have/had for Luke and Lilan respectively. Will be interesting to see how Erin copes with it, though she has seemingly had much more experience in the more violent nature of both Touda and Best-Lords.
One thing that struck me about the story though is how little the Mist People themselves factor into the story. I don’t necessarily think that means anything, but it’s an interesting thing to consider since they essentially pass this story down second hand. Really interested in seeing all this history from an opposing POV as well.
Finally, the revelation that Soyon was purposely killing Touda hit like a brick even though it was expected. I mean the fact that she straight up accepted and chose her own death, and abandoned her daughter for the code is almost unforgivable to me.
