A television anime adaptation of TurtleMe's The Beginning After The End webtoon was announced at its panel at the New York Comic Con 2024 on Saturday. The panel also revealed the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured above), and teaser promotional video. Titled Saikyou no Ousama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru?, the first season of the anime will air in 2025.

Staff
Director: Keitarou Motonaga (Hametsu no Oukoku)
Script: Takamitsu Kouno (Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu)
Story Supervision: TurtleMe (The Beginning After The End original creator)
Character Design: Masami Sueoka (Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta)
Music: Keiji Inai (Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka)
Production: Slow Curve
Studio: Studio A-CAT

The webtoon, based on TurtleMe's original 2017 web novel, began on Tapas in July 2018, featuring illustrations by Fuyuki23. Beginning the sixth season of the webtoon in June 2023, Rise Entertainment took over the artwork. The webtoon has been published in Japan by Piccoma since 2020.

Yen Press licensed the webtoon in English in 2021 and released the sixth volume on August 20. The seventh volume is planned for a March 25, 2025 release.

Synopsis
The story follows the strongest king in history, Gray. Although he possesses unparalleled power, wealth, and fame, there is no one who stands by his side…and he trusts no one. One day, Gray suddenly meets his death and is reincarnated as a powerless infant named Arthur in a world of magic. Surrounded by a loving family and companions, Arthur starts to experience joys in this new life that he never knew in his previous one. However, during a journey, his family is attacked by bandits...

Thus begins his second life, filled with love and adventure! (Source: Official site)

Just shows how much influence the west has on anime, contrary to what some people say.

I knew this was gonna get an anime when I saw Crunchyroll giving a bunch of webtoons, anime adaptations.

we are so fucking cooked... motonaga directing a big IP at fucking A-CAT (it's a big IP, don't even argue) in big 2024 is the reason as to why the world is suffering nowadays.

so disappointed, but some people will be like "hEy aT leAsT iT gOt aN aNimE", just shut up fr. would've preferred a proper high caliber adaptation in 5-10 years ffs

I feel sorry for TBATE, they fired very good artist, dragged on for a year and a half to find an inferior artist and now the anime adaptation will be done by some studio and staff who have only done small projects so far, some of which are crap, it's not just my opinion but general opinion.

@MadanielFL Are you saying that the attention of anime producers to Korean content is purely Western influence?

i really don't understand what's going on in their minds .. Tbate not only is an isekai but its also one that could easily pass on as japanese light novel while also being one of the biggest one here . there isnt any webtoon that speaks immediate success as an anime in japan like TBATE and yet they somehow couldnt find a great studio to adapt it ..

the only silver lining here is that we would be able to add characters from TBATE in our favorites

@IzanaSolos
Well yeah, however..
1- Katanagatari was at White Fox, a way better studio
2- That was 14 years ago

Yes mostly, Solo Leveling was not well received in Japan.
Tower of God only got a S2 because of CR not Japan.

Most of the TBATE fanbase is outside of Asia.

As a big Tbate fan, I am exceptionally worried beyond belief right now. I am extremely excited and hopeful that the anime can do justice. I am terrified and disappointed that this is the studio we got. But, it is not a big name in Asia as it is outside of it. Not to say that it is small, but it's definitely not big. I hope that the studio will somehow do great things, but I will not expect them to do so. Also join the tbate discord!

@MadanielFL But why don't you think that they can also make good money through the Korean market?

Ngl, this shit ruined my day... A story I love so much... wtf is this garbage studio? And comedy animes like Shikanoko that doesn't need very good animation gets wit studio... This is so wrong at so many levels... I can't even describe my frustration.

@Atoom1911 How many titles are ready to create huge hype even with an hour-long animation of a short scene from the opening? Without being a kyoani anime from the 00s?

I'm not super familiar with this one, but the premise sounds promising. Shame the studio doesn't seem all that great.

I enjoyed reading the web-novel so I'm excited for the anime!

When the sun sets, who doth not look for night?
Untimely storms make men expect a dearth."

Never heard about this before, but I guess it's popular enough to get an adaptation.

@Gear707 From what I know TBATE at the starting is total ripoff of Mushoku Tensei. Volumes 1 and 2 I think are almost a complete rip off, with only difference being the characters in TBATE being less pervy, horny overall.

But after that it apparently has its own story, but the studio and director is not looking good for anime adaptation.

I am so excited for this one, it's one of my favorite webtoon and the last time I caught up with the series it was on hiatus. Given how badly the anime adaptation of webtoon have been for some other series, like God of High School, Tower of God, etc. I hope this turns out differently. The trailer looks meh but the promotional picture looks stunning.

I think I've read about 70 chapters of this. It's entertaining. With how everything gets anime adaptation these days, this was expected. Although, as people here expressed, studio and director make the adaptation not promising to say the least. There's always hope for a miracle though. Perhaps it's because I'm not in love with story or because it's been years since I've read it last time, but I'm not too anxious about possible flop.

I think I'll stay away from this one, it basically sounds like mushoku and I really don't like mushoku.

Don't care about the story. Read the webtoon and it was just a more boring version of Mushoku Tensei. But the director is Keitarou Motonaga so I'm looking forward to it.
