Lum with horns...nothing something you'd see everyday. This was an awkward episode for her as she attempts to hide them. However, it looks like her personality didn't change and she still adores her "darling". Jokes aside though, having horns in a show like this isn't even out of the ordinary lol |

Mendo really does carry himself with a lot of pride. Or perhaps Cherry just isn't too keen on him, lol. Kotatsu Neko purchased a traditional kotatsu from an antique shop. However, no matter how securely the kotatsu futon was placed on it, it always seemed to slip off whenever attention was diverted. To Kotatsu-Neko's surprise, this time when they focused on the futon, the kotatsu itself appeared to move! Meanwhile, Lum experienced an unexpected incident when her hand was bitten by a cow. Later, Lum sensed something peculiar and upon inspecting herself in the mirror, she discovered that her horns had transformed into "cow" horns! Seeking discretion, Lum confided in Ten to keep her transformation a secret. As they progressed to the next destination, the Mendo family's residence, Onsen Mark couldn't help but feel apprehensive about the grandeur of the gate. What awaited Onsen Mark beyond the lavish and expansive living room of the Mendo family? Losing 121 games in a row... That's gotta sting. But you know, Lum's reaction, I get it. If I won 121 games straight, I'd probably strut a bit too. As for this whole cow thing, yeah, it's a classic in Yatsura, but honestly, it's so out there that I couldn't help but find it a bit ridiculous. I mean, it's just Lum turning into a cow... lols. And poor Onsen Mark, his story just keeps rolling from the last few episodes, but dang, the guy just can't catch a break, can he? My heart goes out to him. He definitely didn't deserve all the grief he got in this episode. |

This episode has a post-credits scene so don't skip it accidentally. The Kotatsu-Neko episode was good. At least we got an episode with him even if his origin story was skipped. Holy hell. The cow episode was absolutely gorgeous. I know they used it heavily in the trailer but it was definitely a beautiful episode. My only complaint is that the pacing was way too fast. A common complaint for this Remake. Anyways, this episode further proves that Ataru deeply cares about Lum. It's one of the times when he's forced to break his tsundere facade. The next episode is going to be very interesting. Particularly cause the second part will adapt something that was never adapted before in the OG series. And I can see it confusing some new fans as well. But it all depends on how they handle it. |

A dramatic way to cut a deal for sure. To think that table was actually sentient. Glad that ended well for both the cat and the kotatsu i guess. Turning into a cow after being bitten by one huh thats a new one. But one that showed a surprisingly fragile side to Lum that we have yet to see. In the end im glad that the extended horns was part of her races immune system. |

That second half was freaking beautiful, loved it so much. Specially that scene with Ataru grabbing Lum when she tried to leave. In the end it turned out to be nothing serious as expected but we got such great development out of it. Ataru really cried for Lum. Love these Ataru x Lum focused episodes we get. |

It’s too bad this episode didn’t release on Valentine’s Day. This would have been a perfect thing to watch that day. You have two different love dynamics. You had the big cat, whose love of kotatsus, seek to work if the sentient kotatsu and Ataru actually showing he cared about Lum no matter what form she was in. We also got to see the teacher struggle to have a civil parent teacher meeting without things going wrong. Either way, it was an interesting episode nevertheless. |

But I figured they'd wait until much later to introduce Inaba. Are they going to introduce him already in episode 8? The story SHOULD span a couple episodes at least. So maybe episode 8-11 will all be about Inaba? Who knows. Can't wait to find out. |

It's a fan favorite. ๐
I've already wanted to say "One of the best episodes", but already said the last few weeks. ๐
But it's always so true. Fun-Fact. According to Rumic World the chapter "Lum Becomes A Cow", was first published on February 22, 1984 - so almost exactly 40 years ago. ๐ I'm so glad this series exists. ๐ |

Damn, this was the horniest we'll ever see Lum. The cow segment was alright, but I think it didn't quite live up to the OG which also dedicated the full episode to it. |

Ngl, while I’m glad Kotatsu Cat got a story in the remake, this one in the OG is so much better, there’s so much more to taming the Kotatsu than what we saw here, but this was still fun of course, I definitely enjoyed Kotatsu Cat chasing the Kotatsu around while annoying everyone in the process. Now the 2nd half of this one was on the money although a bit fast paced, they did a great job with the Ataru and Lum scene in regards to her becoming a cow, I remember Ataru’s reaction surprising me when I watched this one in the OG and it is still a bit surprising, but a very nice scene between the two of them at the same time, probably one of the bests. I’m also glad they kept the joke about Ataru loving cows, I really like that one lol, and I also noticed all of Lum’s stormtroopers were present in that same scene, no speaking lines unfortunately but nice to see them. And the after credits bit was a funny one, I’m warming up to the idea of these being short bits instead of a whole episode. Also not sure if we’re getting his episode next time but I noticed “Super Delicious Planet Golden Special Reserve Gorgeous Aftercare Kit-#28” at the very end there, no I don’t remember all of that name from memory lol. |

jesus christ they cooked so hard with the visuals, rain scene was actually cinema. just the kinda segment we needed during valentine's week but would've been better if it was a full length episodes worth, still liked it though. ataru reaffirming that he cares for enough enough to build a barn lol he got the right spirit. kotatsu part, mendo family network gotta be crazy with how quick he spawned. |

“Lum Becomes A Cow” is definitly stealing the spotlight from its partner episode. It was already one of the best chapters when reading the manga and the adaptation of it is in no way inferior to it. The perfect mix of humor and heart. I really laughed out loud when Lum took Ataru's hand at school. "Are you doing well"? "Yes, until you threw me from the third floor". Splendid ๐ The scene with Sakura, where she then takes the whole thing as one of Ataru's typical fake injuries, also made me laugh a lot.๐ The highlight of the episode is definitely the street scene. It really was beautiful in so many ways. Just the bright colors of the city, blurred by the rain, reflected in all areas of the street and surrounding Lum and Ataru during this emotional scene. The whole composition of the scene was just perfect. For me this is great art and one of the highlights of the series.โจ And once again a scene that shows that Ataru might have feelings for Lum, even if he wouldn't admit it. The two go really well together.๐ The ending is really funny again. How Ataru's mother thinks he's completely lost his mind now. ๐ I wonder how long it took for Lum to enlighten Ataru. Did she enjoy watching Ataru build the stable for her for a while?๐ค Such a cool episode. I'm really blown away.๐โจ |

Lmao Mendo appearing like that is gold. 9:25 I just looked it up, and ใธใใณใฐ (jipangu) - Zipang, Zipangu is the name for Japan used by Marco Polo. 9:42 ใใใฎๅฎถ (yoshi-no-ya) sounds the same as ๅ้ๅฎถ (yoshinoya lit. good luck field house) - a Japanese multinational fast food chain, and the second-largest chain of gyลซdon (beef bowl) restaurants. That's one way to make a scene both tragic and comedic lol. But yeah, I loved it. The visuals were gorgeous. 12:03 ๅคงๅทฅ (daiku) - carpenter Good episode! |

I don't remember the kotatsu become a sledge part at all. I like they make Ataru and Lum's head become big during the argument on the first part. The rainy scene in the city really pretty and they make even more dramatic with the slo mo thing. I appreciate that they made their own version of Atru catching Lum gesture, it's a bit different there. The only thing that I don't really like is the fact that it happened on the side of street not on the empty lot like the original. It's still overall a really good episode for Atalum. I want to see that Golden special being adapted because it was really hilarious especially it involved Ran and Ten as well. I quite surprised that they choos to adapt much earlier chapters next week. With that I still have a little hope that the space courting chapter would get adapted one day. |

Well, let's start in the original (1981) these are the 146 and 117 series, only a small part of 146 remains, in fact 50% of the entire timing and plot. 117 Has been preserved completely in the plot and differs only in some frames. In fact, everything was laid out in 10 minutes, the second part of the 6th series itself looks more saturated and colorful, the creators clearly wanted to emphasize these very moments, since romance and chemistry between the main characters, Lam and Ataru, as far as I remember, are not so often manifested in this anime they will kiss only 3 times for all Urusei Yatsura. |

Of course, with the large number of chapters there is always a bit of subjectivity involved. What I like about "Lum Becomes A Cow" is that it combines an absurd gag situation with a touching situation that shows that Ataru does indeed care for Lum. Urusei Yatsura has comedy chapters, love stories, adventure stories, science fiction, space stories, slice of live, small sequel stories, stories from Japanese folklore - there is something of everyone. As with "Kaguya-sama", the chapters are more hit or miss. Some people like one chapter better, others laugh at completely different chapters. I have e.g. 2 weeks ago absolutely loved the "Lover Thief" episode and found it to be a real firework of gags - while most people here on MAL rather digged the partner episode ("Mizunokoji Girl") That is very different. With 366 chapters, the probability that there will be one that many people like but you don't is actually quite high. But there are still 365 other stories that can appeal to you. I had a bit of a hard time with the manga at first. Simply because it's not every day that you read a title from 1978 and in the beginning a lot of things were different. Lum was initially planned as a sporadically appearing supporting character before she was made the main character due to her great popularity. After 10 - 20 chapters I really enjoyed these little stories about the microcosm surrounding Lum, Ataru, Shinobou and all the others and after 20 - 30 chapters I absolutely loved it. This is really a manga that you can sink into more and more chapter by chapter.โบ๏ธ Of course, there were some weak chapters among the large number - that can't be avoided with a manga like this - but for the most part you really had fun reading it - some chapters even several times.๐ So I can only recommend checking out the manga every time (and not being put off by some of the "weird" chapters at the beginning.) But of course it's also great if you can't do anything with the manga but can still enjoy the anime series.๐ค |

The fact that Ataru can be his sweetest upon the stupidest circunstances is quite telling of the tone of the series. Did they seriously think Lum was going to turn into a cow? In any case, that scene on the rain is probably the best animated one in the show thus far. Also poor teacher still doing the home visits and getting shit on everywhere. |

A Kotatsu made from a tree that doesn't want to get warm Cutter -> Katta ๐ With Lum bitten by a cow and falling asleep to Vampire fiction, she concludes she must be turning into a cow after seeing her horns grow. It's not unbelievable given that a member of her species, Rei, is known to switch to such a form. Late to school, see tried hiding the horns with cute hairbuns. Fearing life will never be the same for her again, Ataru promises to stick by her in a very tearful moment. But while he's off building a barn for her, it turns out the extended horns are just an allergic reaction to the bacteria introduced by the cow bite. The Mendou's mansion is the next place Mark Onsen does his teacher home visit. Unlucky. |
