Feels like Kaina is carrying a lot of responsibility in this episode.

Not going to lie, I like the exploration and uncertainity of this series. As it takes place on a fantasy planet, anything could happen like that brief but dangerous storm. The sky looked dense though and we see more otherworldly creatures roaming about. This almost feels like being stuck in a survival game with that cold weather.

Kinda reminds me of Made in Abyss

Not to mention there's 11 episodes total. Am dropping this show. There's no redemption at this point. World building is very intriguing but that's about it. Everything else is just bad.

Kaina being led by Yaona to the series of underground tunnels leading to the Snow Sea, all while Ririha is escorted to Atland for negotiation terms. The Snow Sea is deep but not dense and vast all around, and there is danger all around, but yet, if the both of them tread their journey safely, everything should be fine.

Reaching the surface of the Snow Sea in the hopes of reaching Ririha safe, Kaina missed the mark and almost endangered his own life, therefore missing the time frame needed to save Ririha. And as if Valghia hasn't made their point clear, if Atland doesn't make a decision soon, there'll soon be war and bloodshed.

Finding Ririha at a place where they didn't expect to find her, will Kaina and Yaona save her out of trouble?

Holy shit man Handagil is ruthless. Kinda fucked up of Ririha dad to just send him to die like that as well. Ririha might have got thru to amerote, her demeanor seems to have shifted there at the end. Don’t think she’s necessarily onboard with everything her country’s doing but complies out of loyalty. Some more really good worldbuilding and political intrigue. I think at this point we’re for sure going to have to have even more than the movie to fully tell this story.

I'm getting more and more interested in this story with each episode. Maybe it's boring for some people but I like this kind of slow revealing of the world and its mechanism and honestly think this episode was pretty realistic, especially with the fact that getting to this island didn't turn out as planned. I really dig the sense of emptiness this world gives

Another fabulous episode where the world continues to be built. I like the pace and the development of the "underwater" area a bit, those creatures are wild. The CG was only distracting a couple of times for me, when the faces seemed to be on autopilot. Otherwise good stuff for me.

They didn't make it in time, even if they did I wonder what could have they done. The part with them inside the sea was beautiful.

I liked this episode more than the others. Yaona adds a lot of life to the plot. But, because of this very reason, I am afraid he might die.

The inside of the sea seems to have normal gravity, and no noticeable upthrust. I wonder what the sea actually is.

I am not a huge fan of Ririha and Kaina just yet. Those two are rather boring, and they seem to be following a romance arc despite having this highly intriguing world to explore. I wish they just roamed around in this world like Killy did in BLAME, or like Kaina and Yaona did this episode.

Very convenient for the boys that the Bad Guy decided to put the princess in a cage instead of sticking her head on a pole.

It's obvious the envoy with that provocative message was going to be killed in a period of war. Who should be blamed for it? the king, the envoy, or the author?

Welp its unfortunate that they didn't make it but atleast they find out that Liliha is okay. That trek definitely deepened the bond between Kaina and Yaona and now their even more commited to saving Liliha.

That Handagil guy is a cruel guy, just straight up killed that solider.

Once again the worldbuilding was beautiful especially the sea, the story is very intriguing as well.

Lets see if Kaina and Yaona can save her next week??

Are they ever planning to address the question of "what -is- the 'snow sea'"? 'cause it's obviously not snow, and the more the characters interact with it, the more it bugs me that they've just not bothered explaining anything about it at all...

I wonder how they lost buoyancy in order to be able to walk under the sea (of unknown liquid), they used some sort of ballast?
Maybe that was addressed (here or in a previous episode) and I missed it?

It happens repeatedly that we mistakenly regard the world in the show as ours, when we let our guard down. "What a poor CG splash of the sea... oops, it's not water." The sea thing doesn't include precious water and it would have relative density less than 1 (or that of human to be precise).

Yes I know.

In previous episodes they were floating in it.
Maybe it's that thing which look like small scabbard that they put on their backs which is causing the buoyancy? Kaina and Yoana didn't putted those (I forgot to check in the episode)?

Great episode, we get to see some adventures again!

What's more of an adventure is using a creature underwater to help them travel faster, until, Kaina flopped on the tree's roots underwater... ouch.

Now the real rescue begins! 😶
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

The animation was really good this episode. It’s always been good but it was even better this week.

Favourite character so far is definitely Kaina. He’s cool.

Is this the episode where MAL users realise the snow sea is actually not water? We knew this from episode 2 I believe, but MAL users missed that part I guess.

Yeah that admiral guy is ruthless with killing the messenger, damn.

It was cool to see both Kaina and Yaona walking through the snow sea and even though they missed the negotiation time (what could have they done?) at least the princess is alive and in a cage on top of the ship. I'm not sure why the Valghia decided to do that but it may make rescuing her easier.

Huh I overestimated them, thought they would pull it off. The water must be dense asf to be able to just walk.

Plus how is it that so called "snow" sea is transparent after few meters of opaque surface "snow"? : ))

P.S. It was ok episode overall imo, a bit slow paced but I don't have big issues with that.

P.P.S. I bet it is heavily inspired by Nausicaa

Post-apocalyptic world in both, with still ongoing tensions  between survived "nations", plus mutated plants/animals environment. And the characters ofc:
Liliha - Nausicaa
Amerote - Kushana
Kaina - Asbel

the sea level keeps rising, with lots of cities being submersed, "maybe one day it will reach the canopy"
Ririha wanted to defeat the monsters of the forbidden house, what a fearless kid

the light thing is chasing him now
Yaona once fell in that spot, and now it was Kaina's turn

Ririha talking to the enemy girl, trying to fool her with a story of the sage lol it's nice that she learned some stories
pretty sure she didn't believe the story, but she can see that Ririha is smart with her answers

the woman wanted to use Kaina in trade for Ririha but the king denied it
the attendant came to tell them about Kaina and Yaona being missing, but he didn't care

Yaona almost fell, and that bit that went down made the bugs attack them lol they had to hide inside the tree
time for a break, even if time is short, and better use that time to do necessities, otherwise you might to them during the fight lols

the captain(?) came to look at Ririha and he says he likes her look of defiance
but he looks like he is blind... i'm confused

Yaona was tired as hell, but Kaina didn't want to leave him behind
oh no, they went in the wrong direction ... thankfully they could use the bugs to bring them there
they arrived there just in time, but Kaina fainted from the fall... what will Yaona do now?

one of Ririha's soldiers came to talk, but his negative answer cost him his life, lol if it's to give a negative answer, might as well not give any... only thing it di was give them one more death
seems like that guy wasn't the only one, there were 2 more outside that got killed, oh God, this king is dumb lmao
it looked like the guy was gonna kill her too, but she is now in a cage outside... well., that gives Kaina, who finally woke up, a last chance... with the blessing of the light right behind him
now, is she alive or did they hang her dead body to show dominance? ... hopefully she escapes alive, cause i don't know if i wanna finish the anime with just Kaina lmao
favorite "new girls" from fall <3 (lol i only watched these) ... click sig for older seasons

Now that is some great underwater exploration sequence, and it seems the "Great Snow Sea" is not really made of ordinary water (which was also hinted in the beginning of EP4 when they fell 100 feet deep into the sea before floating up).

Not really toxic gas but something between water and gas (it's certainly lighter than water, since water should have enough buoyancy to support human body). It's not drinkable for sure, but exposure of skin to it is not lethal either.

Shooting (or stabbing in this case) the messenger is the best way to let the viewers know the villain is properly valueless.

The extensive dialogue and travelling sequences really do highlight the scale of the world, especially when so much of it is covered in a barren ocean of snow. Rescue operations like this aren't easy when you don't have the resources at your disposal that the Valghians do.

I'm not entirely sure why Ririha was left alive and shoved into a cage when the Valghians made a point of mentioning they were going to kill her, but that talk of execution could have just been for the sake of sadistic demoralisation. They likely still think she can be used as a bargaining chip.
