Tbh, Mio's plan sounds risky. Then again, everything in this show seems to have a risk when involving Shadows.

Among other things, Ushio and everyone seems to take their roles together to take down the Shadows once and forever. There's a feeling of both excitement and uneasiness for Ushio though.

The age old trend, making enemies our allies, though I guess not really something many people are fond of lol. Anyways leaving aside how casual shadow Mio became with the group, it's finally time to see what kind of circus that sussy doctor has been running beneath that so-called hospital of his.

Again as if things will ever go smoothly, evident from the past episodes we know why Sou's father working for shadows, to bring her wife, Sou's mom back but as we know shadows not gonna keep their promise, but hey as if this fool will realize something this trivial, so went on to shoot his own daughter for god sake. Though a surprise for you mister dracula she was shadow Mio, merely a copy of Tokiko.

Also lol him getting the truth right on his face was some moment. Really can't help but loathe this man for the things he did over all this time, Shinpei not punching him there disappointed me. Not at all surprised about the real identity of Shide, because yeah it runs in the blood of this family.

One more thing, please no more redemptions from this point on.

The pacing is starting to get wonky again.

Man, Dr. Hishigata is the worst character. Just really the worst. And while I can appreciate wanting to spend more time with your wife, it's insane how he's solely invested in her and nothing else. He's over here like, "I have no reason to live without you!" And she's like, "Our kids?" And he's like, "They suck! I want you!" There are too many characters, and people for that matter, that have kids and don't want them. Just awful.

I sort of wish Sou had hammered his dad some more after all that. That punch wasn't enough. I was legitimately taken back when Tokiko got shot. Not that she's particularly a good character herself, but just the level of betrayal in that scene. Though it was definitely a copout how Mio took her place. It feels like this show is a bit afraid to commit.

Other than that, the Shide reveal was super underwhelming.

The stakes get bigger and the story gets more interesting, as we finally get to see Dr. Hishigata's motives, and boy are they selfish. The tough thing is if Haine gets killed, the shadows are done, and Ushio will be no more, as well as Hishigata's wife.

These last two episodes have been quite amazing, and has redeemed the relatively weaker episodes before these two. Could it get even more interesting from here on out?

One thing I can tell you as a manga reader is that they haven't revealed anything about Shide yet.
What has been revealed about him in this episode is nothing, so don't worry you're not ready.

One of my fave episodes yet for sure. Finally getting some much needed explanations about the shadows and Tokiko father involvement with them. I loved the mio moments today. I feel like I might be the only person who prefers her over ushio and she and shinpei over her sister and shinpei

Despite how crazy all the info we got today was, feels like we ain’t seen anything yet. Still a lot to learn about shide’s origins hopefully next week.

✨Acquired: Shadow Mio✨

A pretty good episode, building up for the finale. We learned a little bit more about shadows in this episode, and plot twist, Shinpei's parents were killed because they got too close to the truth. SADGE.

I also like how Shinpei didn't allow Ushio to blindly follow the nurse carrying her corpse. Big brain.
Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load.

just commenting on a secondary aspect of the episode: is there any other anime where two siblings - a man and a woman (in that case, Sou and Tokiko) - are both in love with the same person (Mio [..and Shadow Mio])?
I think this approach is kinda unique

I wonder what is going to happen with the mom now that she is converted. She does't look like the combat type, and since she is a shadow and the original is already dead, she also won't vanish.
I guess she will die...

Woah, two Mio's at the same time, even conversing with each other. Thing is that's not gonna last.

Not gonna lie, two Mio's with highly contrasting voice tones is kinda creeping me out, especially how it kinda sounds like those twin girls from The Shining (wonder how it must be for Saho Shirasu to play both). Aside from that, at least we get some helpful information since Mio's shadow is pretty much an ally for the time being, particularly with how the "duplication" system works amongst Shadows. Additionally, we now know that Dr. Hishigata is pretty much the main person of interest, so we could probably expect him to be one of the main antagonists in these upcoming episodes. Hold up, a whole new plot twist just opened in this episode! Really be playing the pawn game, and Sou is very roughly facing the harsh reality.

"Of course I'm scared! I hate hospitals at night..." I feel ya Ushio; my heart was kinda racing during those scenes as red flags kept getting set off, and the darkness of the animation seemed to help the immersion. On the other hand, I'm surprised Hizuru can keep a calm and composed look given the situation, though it kinda makes sense given her background. And another thing, it seems that Shadow copying abilities seem to be less and less powerful than we originally thought: looks like the concept of immunity from copying seems to be brought up in this episode. Them Shadows really do be playing taunting games if the main cast continue to find flaws and weaknesses that could be used against them.

Overall, this episode was the most eye-opening filled with rather useful info and unexpected twists to the story, and a rather emotional one for the Hishigatas. There are so many spilling details that you'll come across watching this episode, which is why I won't spoil everything here to preserve the sense of excitement and unexpectedness. Although, props to Shinpei as always for very quickly understanding the current situation and keeping a reasonable coolness despite feeling frustration.

Well damn. Haine isn't the complete bad guy here, she just wanna go home, stay with her family in her shadow world for all eternity, she's doing all this for the sake of herself and her family, can't really oppose that. It's all a matter of perspective and side's now, we are on Shinpie's side so we are empathizing with him, we want him to win.

What Haine is doing is similar to Eren, Eren is a bad guy in the eye's of others, as other's are in his, same for Haine.

Sou's dad had good intentions too, he just wanted to live with his family forever, sure it was really selfish of him to sacrifise the whole island to save just himself and his family but well.

Liked the little part with shadow Mio, Mio and Shinpie.

And the bitter truth is revealed to Shinpie, his parents were Haine food too, RIP.

And welp, Ushio's gonna be sacrificed, isn't she?

We are approaching the climax, next few episodes should be peak.

5/5.

Shadow Mio acquired and interrogated by Shinpei and Co. to understand Haine and her motives, putting everything they know into a complete circle. But the process of copying, we've known the usual of just scanning someone, but the "childbirth" part is new to them, and any infodump is good info to know.

Sou and Tokiko's dad literally is their key to solving the case of Haine and her Shadows, and yet there is Shadow Mio instigating Shinpei about his romance life, but it's not without reason that despite the copy, the original is still worth protecting. And upon investigating the Hishigata Clinic, there's clearly a Shadow looking forth and with Ushio's body in the morgue missing, the new route that links to Hiruko's Cave...there is Sou's Shadow mom Chitose (linked to Haine) almost choking Sou's dad to death, and saving him in the nick of time.

The intense confrontation which leaves Tokiko shot (but thankfully is in fact, Shadow Mio), and his unwavering loyalty to Haine leaves no doubt, more than his immunity to be copied that can't be done anymore. Negoro stealing Ushio's real body as a sacrifice for Haine and Shide's ritual, and emotions aren't enough as weapons, so anything is up to understand the loose ends.

To return to whence the Shadows came...to the depths of the world, and the Hishigata family finally being liberated of the whole debacle to come clean with the entire setting...it's founder Shidehiko, Haine's first-born, and giving rise to the birth of the Shadows.

The twists and turns are so thought-provoking, the mystery truly deepens...

In terms of the question of is the clone the same as the original. It seems that Mr. Hishigata went so far to the yes direction, that he was willing to see himself and his kids die as long as the shadows got to live a good life in that eternal heaven like place that is Haines home. Don't agree but its an understandable motive that Haine seemed to also want with Shiori's parents. Also the reveal of Shide's true form. He looks kind of menacing!

Great episode! They now have shadow Mio in their possession and are questioning her...
Haine can give 'birth' multiple times but not currently in her weak state...
Sou gets protective over shadow Mio there for a second xD.
Shadow Mio even asks if Shinpei got a girlfriend in Tokyo lol. (Which the answer to was of course no).
It's surprising that a shadow is helping Mio to show her feelings more directly kind of xD. Seems Ushio's original body has been moved.
Shadow Mio saved the day with that disguise of Tokiko!
Seems you get copying immunity when you are copied already and that shadow dies...

If Haine dies then so will every other shadow!

Looking forward to the next episode!

So in this episode, Shadow Mio is trying to spill the tea, like it almost reminds me of someone getting asked for therapy but it's more or less evident that Shadow Mio is onto something to give Shinpei and his friends some torture and get her telling about Haine possibly creating Shadow Mio for the traitor's purpose :S While processing this, I've learned quite a few things: Copy types: Transformation - something to replicate with your own body and Childbirth - to create a shadow, you need to split a part of your body (split in half? split in quarters? vague but not for any experts out there lol) Then though it ain't easy, Haine can give multiple births and she needs to consume people as much as possible to recover and purposely create armies of children (or can refer to as shadows). Had the chuckles when Shadow Mio asked Shinpei if he has a gf and Mio gets jealous lol. Ngl I really like the setting of the hospital and I'm getting terrified by what's an unexpected occurrence is about to happen, where there is a shadow beyond the lines that results in seeing Sou's and Tokiko's mother choking their father.

Also, Kensho Ono goat for voicing Sou, putting the soul to how much Sou cares about his own family seems a natural thing. Also, I knew Shadow Mio would come in disguise when I saw that glitch particle but I didn't expect her to use Tokiko. Then another thing that has been learned is that the shadow of Sou's and Tokiko's father was made and died thus the father gained immunity out of it, that is to not be able to get copied and they pretty much can't create shadows anymore. "Ya can't just act on instinct and expect things to work out" my man Shinpei *insert respect emoji*, kinda sad to see the mother losing her memories of how she was a shadow and being created and Ushio telling the others she have the guts to keep the solving between the Haine case and the ending was tearsome and fearsome at the same time because the last information of this episode is basically something showing up in the list to where Shide was Haine's guardian and the first child she ever gave birth to. The mystery evolves indeed.

- The series tries to humanize the shadows to make us care.
- It’s revealed that the shadow child is the core to everything that’s shadow and her goal is to bring all the shadows to the land of eternity—a land where time doesn’t exist.
- If the core to the shadow is killed, all shadows die.
- The conflicts between characters are just not entertaining to watch.
- I wished these Shadows just remained as a natural threat to the people on the Island instead of humanizing them.

A constant streak of 4-5/10 episodes accompanied by subtle reveals. Wow. Masterpiece.

OK Kage Mio on our sideeeee. Its cute when the orginal and shadow are talking.

And

One of the most creepy episodes. Hospitals are really scary. I was freaked out by that wheel chair and Shadow in the dark hallway. F*CK. And I'm watching it at night today. Ughhh this is what I loved about summertime render. 😭😭 The last creepy thing was that statue in the old clinic. 🤣

They got Ushio-chan's real body. And glad they got Sou-kun's mama. It was an emotional episode at the end with the two parents. Plus the ED music playing the background made me cried even more. Heyyy I love the the ED song by riria. It's a beautiful song. It's titled『失恋ソング沢山聴いて 泣いてばかりの私はもう』"I've Listened to Many Songs About Broken Hearts, It's Too Late For Me Who Only Cries" I'm on repeat in spotify with this song. It's just perfect for a cloudy day or your mood is down or you have problems. It's a relaxing song.

I love what Shinpei-kun said about you can't just act on instinct etc......
But yeah Ushio-chan will disappear in the end. It's okay Ushio-chan is ready for it. It's for everyone. Besides the real Ushio-chan is already dead.

Anyways Shide is the founder of Hishigata Clinic. And his face is more scary and creepy. I don't want to stare at it for long. Hahahahaha ughhhh OK next week again 😭👌❤️💯

Ushio having the power to turn any Shadow they meet onto their side is such a massive writing cop out on a number of levels. As was trying to wring emotion out of Tokiko being shot, only to instantly reveal that it was in fact Shadow Mio: does the show seriously think Tokiko is a character we care enough about to be sad about her potentially dying and happy for it to not be the case?

Also, I know I was asking for it for ages, but I find Haine's reason for doing all of this to be really stupid, not to mention that it's obviously being done to try and humanise the Shadows when they're beings that really don't deserve it: what is with so many anime in recent seasons trying to humanise irredeemable antagonists like this?

Why has my investment in this show just completely diminished into nothingness in this second cour?

So ... another exciting episode! Shide's identity is revealed, albeit with less suspense than I expected, and the last entry on the cast list, during the credits, is finally written plain for the first time after appearing pixelated starting from, if I remember correctly, the 5th episode. Unfortunately I don't know how to read it, does anyone know more?

I kinda had expected that Shinpei's parents were killed by the Shadows. Quite obvious. So Haine wants a family of her own and take the chosen family members to live for eternity. I teared up a little when Chitose comforts her husband, Tokiko and Sou. I find it weird how the doctor wants their children to be killed and have their shadows live in this dystopian paradise. Yeah the shadows are alive there but it's not like his children will ever feel it.

We are once again reminded that in order to win this battle, you must let go of the people you cherish the most. The Shadows of the dead people may not mind since they shouldn't even be dwelling among the living, but those who are left behind can't easily accept the reality to lose the people who are dear to them twice.

Very depressing.

The point of that reveal was to show just how desperate Sou's and Tokiko's dad is to the point he will shoot his own daughter to achieve his delusional goal. And while some viewers don't care much about Tokiko, her real self dying could lead to Shinpei looping again.
