This part is really tough to score. WoU had a great design, iconic panels and an interesting concept. But the writing fell completely flat. I don't understand what Go Beyond does, Kaato coming back and using sap to cure the disease felt anticlimactic, and the numerous rock insects were just tiring to read through. I'm sad Jobin's purpose was to be a casualty of Tooru's stand when he could've served the story much better. It's a decent story held back by the last twelve or so chapters.

It was not a bad ride, but the end itself is actually pretty disappointing, imho. Araki spent half of the chapter with that pointless Radio Gaga incident (which can lead to part 9, but honestly, it would have been better to start with it instead ending the eighth one) and then, pointless discussions of nothing. It feels like he wanted to continue with JoJolion for a lot more time, but Shueisha asked him to stop it and start part 9 already.

Up until vitamin c it was one of the best jojo parts for me until it started gradually getting worse and reached it's mediocre ending. Still an overall good manga but I hope part 9 isn't a sequel or Araki at least gets rid of the rock animal and insects boring fights.

That was sooo weak, mediocre at best, very disappointing ending and one of the weakest parts in Jojo.
Idk how people can be satisfied with this.

An adequate conclusion I would say. I'm glad the final confrontation at the Higashikata estate wasn't too drawn out. It was cool seeing this world's Joseph Joestar for a moment.

An amazing ending to even more amazing story. I consider JoJolion as not only my favorite Part, but also as peak JoJo manga, having a lot of themes present in the previous Parts, but improved, and also some new themes as well.

As for the last chapter, I liked how Josefumi aka Joseph Joestar had many similarities to good ol' Joseph we know from the other universe. Clackers, Hermit Purple-like Stand, quite similar backstory. All of those little details made that short last arc even better.

I'm glad that Josuke, even though he had no memories from Josefumi or Kira, was able to find a new family and get accepted into it.

I just want to mention that JOSUKE AND YASUHO NEVER KISSED. Also the flashback with Joseph and Lucy was the only good part of this chapter, the rest was quite "meh". In conclusion, Part 8 was an extremely okay-ish part with some highlights every once in a while and with some really boring set of charecters, in my opinion. Don´t get me wrong, I really love all of Araki´s works but to be honest Jojolion is probably one of my least favorite parts. If I had to rate this Part from the rest, I would problaby put it somewhere in the bottom three, and it really pains me to say this knowing that this is ARAKI´S LONGEST PART, WHICH TOOK A DECADE TO FINISH. OH MY GOD!!!!
Jojolion: 6.5/10

P.S.: The last panel sucks, it could have been way better if it was just Josuke & Yasuho kissing. >:(

Ah, the guardrail was a rock animal, I should have known. And as was predicted, Fumi is Joseph. The ending managed to feel more conclusive than I was expecting after the last couple chapters.

I plan to reread this Part from the start sometime in the near future (and the other Parts too), so I can see how it reads without the monthly wait agony.

Looking forward to Part 9 too!

The ending was soo good! I love it! At first, i thought the ending would be rushed cus Araki pulled out another theory that made all jojo fans confused for a month (i talk about Radio Ga Ga). But surprisingly, it turned out that it was one of Tooru's rock animal, he gave us a hint that Tooru's role in here is kind of similar with Dio, the one who gave curse to Joestar family.

Also, i was so happy when i saw humanoid version of hermit purple and a pair of clackers hahahaa

Can't wait to read the next part, JOJOLAND LET'S GOOOO

Overall I liked the part but that ending was a bit whack. It prooooobably falls into 3rd place for my rankings but maybe 2nd. I need to mull it over a bit first.

It kinda lost the soap opera vibe when we stopped seeing the fam as much so that was a bit of a let down but I like that the Higashikatas have fully accepted Josuke as one of the family.

Decent ending but the show still left us with a lot of unresolved plot points. The one that hurts the most for me is the flashforward scene with Tsurugi carrying his dad´s body in a sack. Guess Araki just dropped that whole scenario lol

We was carrying Norisuke in the sack. The link point is just after the battle but before WoU enters his body. How did you miss that one?

The final chapter itself was solid. I do think the decision to focus 2/3rds of the last two chapters on Lucy Steel was a strange one, but I quite liked the Radio Gaga Incident for the simple mystery horror of it all, and all the callbacks. I popped for the Clackers, and the scene where Lucy "reacts" to hearing about Johnny & the small panel of Johnny was one of the most emotional moments of the series. I really like Steel Ball Run.

Jo2uke's portions were good too, I do like the reveal that Josefumi's mother was searching for him, that was nice. As was Jo2uke's declaration that he's Josuke from the soil. I probably would've preferred some romantic confirmation from Jo2uke & Yasuho, since that was the long-lasting relationship on the show, and perhaps the most developed in the series. I understand ending with his newfound family, but Jo2uke pretty much stops interacting with them in the second half. Outside of maybe Norisuke, I don't feel like Jo2uke's bond with any of those members were all well-developed.

But for Part 8 as a whole, I do think I generally enjoyed the series a lot more in the first half, the whole Damo arc mixed in with Kira/Josefumi story arc was clearly the highlight of the series to me. And when Part 8 was great, it was some top tier stuff. Along with the aforementioned arc, Soft & Wet, California King Bed, Shakedown Road, Yotsuyu Yagiyama fight, Every Day is a Summer Vacation, Love Love Deluxe, & Ozone Baby were all fantastic, some rank among my favourite encounters in the series.

But there were plenty of fights that didn't do much for. There were maybe too many fights that basically came down to running away, most of which I didn't care much for. Born This Way was the best of the bunch, since the mechanistic for activating the Stand were the most interesting and there was some good use of strategy throughout it. Doobie Wah was pretty weak, and Blue Lagoon really only had the ending going for it.

And I've mentioned this before but Wonder of You is probably my least favourite climactic battle in all of JoJo. This is probably the thing that dampens the rating the most. I was kind of wavering between a 7 & an 8 as I read depending on the arc, but the longest arc (the longest arc in all of JoJo I think) being one of my the least enjoyable while also being the most important really hurt my impressions of the series. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, there's definitely good bits in there, but overall it was rather weak in my opinion. And yeah, I'm pretty letdown by how Jobin's arc concluded, it's fine that he didn't turn out the main antagonist but he was killed so easily and he was likely my favourite character in the whole part, so that was really upsetting.

Kinda wish there were more random one-offs like Milagro Man, not one of my favourite but it's a bit upsetting to my that stand-alone slice of life episodic flavour that made Diamond is Unbreakable so unique wasn't often captured in this part, though for building up mystery & horror, they did a great job so that's not a big gripe.

I don't really want this to boil down to a negative opinion, I definitely enjoyed most of my time with JoJolion, and considering how much I love Steel Ball Run it's not like I thought it was actually going to replace it as my favourite part. I'm not entirely sure where it ranks for me, I feel bad that I'm not in a mood to do a more comprehensive, structured review like it did for the other parts. But it is what it is, 7/10.

Oof, so that was quite the read. I "only" read 11 chapters in one go, but it still felt pretty long, because I had to stare at some of these panels for a while to get what was going on, but right now... I feel pretty satisfied. Not sure how I would feel about the ending (and part as a whole) if I did spend years reading it, or months reading that final battle, but to me it all clicked into place. Tooru dying by Tsurugi's curse felt almost poetic and it all clicked into place. Even if the final shot at the Head Doctor was a bit eh... It felt like it was just there to give Josuke more spotlight.

Seeing some Joseph fanservice was pretty great, I definitely appreciate some Hermit Purple and clicker volleys! Araki bringing back references from part 2 is something I didn't expect. Even if I found it a bit weird that it took like 2/3 of the final chapter.

Seeing how Josefumi's mother never stopped looking for her son was touching and I think it redeems her at least a little. Even though it looked like Josuke keeps at his new family now. The final page at a very bittersweet feel with the two empty seats and Yasuho not staying... It's sad and I don't quite get why she didn't stay with them. Maybe she wanted to give the family some alone time, but I feel like she's part of it.

Anyway, not sure where I would rank this in the series as a whole. It definitely isn't one of my favorites, but it's not at the bottom either... I guess somewhere in the middle. I feel like it was a little too drawn out and I did not care about the rock insects at all but the mystery, the characters and most of the fights were great.

I'm happy I can say I'm leaving this part satisfied overall and I sincerely hope the next (and probably last) part will turn out to be even better and leave us with an ending that's unanimously liked.

huh?? im sorry but did you just say the last arc wasnt good??? or do you mean the radio gaga incident with lucy and all?

Honestly don't get the last arc fans... The last arc was needlessly long with rock animals stalling, characters briefly coming back to get clapped, bullshit power-up ( nothing new, still unsatisfying ), and left me with a really rushed feeling, especially with chapter 108. Radio gaga > WoU any day of the week, love me some Joseph

Exactly bro. I really dislike that "rock animals" suddenly appeared and that a stand as strong as WoU kept using them for fighting..

Exactly nothing new that the protagonist suddenly gets such a plot-convenient power-up (it doesn't make sense either). Rip WoU you were butchered for no reason. Inconsistent powers as usual.

And Tooru was so badly done, introduced only at the end of the story, with 0 explanation, we just gotta accept that he's the "mastermind", or whatever.

The Radio GaGa incident was interesting, but we still don't know what the hell was in the guard rail. lmfao

Joshu is still with his small hand haha

So, the Mamezuku-Zeppeli connection remains unconfirmed. Maybe in Part 9... It was a cool theory.

Josuke's ending makes sense, really. Leaving both parts of his former lives (as Yoshikage and as Josefumi) behind (Karera, Josefumi's mom, Holly, Kei) and starting a new one with his newfound family and new girlfriend (kinda).

After reading that final panel, all I could think was: "It's finally over... damn..." Nothing like how I felt after finishing SBR though, but I still had that sense of finality wash over me.
That was a wild ride to say the least. Though reading through the other posts, I'm also a bit disappointed in a lot of the unanswered/glossed-over questions and plot points. Though, I won't be losing any sleep over it or anything.
I still absolutely adore the concept and design of the Wonder of U. For me, it is definitely the most terrifying stand in the entire franchise. And the Endless Calamity arc was still pretty cool.
Though, I will say that the best arc for me was definitely the fight against Ozone Baby and Poor Tom. Even though there were a lot of big brain moments throughout JoJolion, the amount of galaxy brain plays in that fight was jaw-dropping.
Also, I can definitely understand how some people wouldn't like how dragged out this part was, especially if they had been reading when it was publishing monthly.
Anyway, this is probably tied for my second favorite part, or at least third.

In conclusion: Rai Mamezuku was done sooooo dirty man wtf. Also Araki better answer wtf happens to Holy-san.
Also also, I still don't understand wtf Soft & Wet: Go Beyond does. Can someone explain to me how the spin and the bubbles are connected at all? And why tf are the bubbles that come from Josuke's birthmark (never explained btw why that happens) are invisible and are able to travel through cell phones (?????)? Srsly, I just don't get it. It's like Stray Cat + spin + bullsh*t + idk.

well that driver stuff was pretty creepy, fumi appens to be the au sbr joseph and with his hermit purple he saves himself and ends the strange rock organism and there was something in his hand that resembled caesar's balls , glad to hear that lucy steel lived a long life and there was no mention of joseph dying so maybe he's alive or something?
part 8 ends with gappy choosing the family a cake and norisuke is getting discharged as well but sed for jobin , he was a good character
not my favoirte part but a good one, got me hooked

And my JoJolion reread, and thus my main JoJo series reread too, has come to an end. As the only Part I read while it was ongoing it was probably the one I was most looking forward to revisiting, and now that I have I feel even more sure of the score I gave it when I first finished it. I feel like there's a lot I could say about this Part as a whole now, but for now I'll just leave it with I do wish the rest of the family got more focus. Something like the Milagro Man for each of them spread out across the series. Probably the biggest missed opportunity.

BTW take note that Wonder of U and D4C Love Train both had abilities that involved misfortune.

JoJolion was a mess, a beautiful mess.

I loved the main plot, unique stands, mostly awesome fights and all the style it had.

But it fell short at the end. Many plot threads, like Holly's disease, Flashback Man, Wall Eyes etc. were left unsolved. Deaths weren't done properly especially for major characters like Rai Mamezuku and Jobin Higashikata. I am also not particularly fond of the Tooru(including his stand, WoU) and the final battle. The ending could have been better, but it is what it is.

I feel like it was going great, like a 9/10 until the end of Ozone Baby arc, but dropped a lot in quality after that.

7/10

Having read all 8 parts over the last month this one definitely is going with part 5 and 6 in the bottom tier for me.  Jo8suke was fine but a lot like Giorno with how little charisma he exudes.  A lot of the stands and fights were neat but the plot over all was really messy and a lot of characters just show up once without contributing again despite how much they should.  Wonder of you is a really cool stand but man Tooru might take Pucci's spot as the lamest main JoJo antagonist.  Also RIP Jobin.  Jobin should've been the main antagonist.

Looking forward to Jojolands next week

This part is the most ambitious JoJo has ever been. taking "bizarre" to a next dimension with all these wacky concepts. as for the ending, it's a very good commentary on accepting how things turn out, regarding Josuke's identity. even though i think it wasn't explored enough, honestly.

8/10.

This part is the longest one yet the final arc still feels quite a bit rushed.
Kira's sister and Kaato-san just come to the final arc. Part 8 overall has quite a bit of inconsistency.
Tooru was probably the worst antagonist, I mean like dude had no motives just money and power.
Part 8 really has some peak moments too like Vitamin C arc and all, but those are quite less. Josuke, Yashuo and Mamezuku had a great dynamic
All in all a good part but weak in some aspects, 7/10

Weak villain with OP stand, but very entertaining overall. I found it way more fun than Steel Ball Run. Keep in mind the keyword is fun, not a literary masterpiece which Steel Ball Run is. And oh boy, do those twists and turns provide tons entertainment. I even liked Josuke better than Johnny as a Jojo since Gyro took all the spotlight in SBR, but that may be because I like blank slate type of characters who grow over the duration of the story. I really hated that Yasuho didn't end up with Josuke, well maybe at least on this part. There was only one fight I hated and that was the first one. The ending did not feel like a complete victory which is pretty realistic. I've seen mangas with a lot worse endings.
This may be a bit biased, but for me it is 10/10

well, that was something. i didn't like first 50 chapters, plot moved too slow, i didn't even know wtf was going on and no other jojo part has ever made me feel that way lol, i was getting bored as well but it did get good after 50 chapters. i mean we got 3 straight chapters of an insect fight like bro xD

the biggest crime of jojolion is how mistreated of a character yasuho is. i'm not a big fan of this part, but she is probably a top 3 character in all of jojo for me. she's so reliable and i like her loyalty to josuke but the way she keeps getting sexually assaulted for fanservice, she gets left alone by josuke, loses her arm and almost gets flushed! like wtf bro. i don't know why araki was so horny in jojolion man it just pissed me off everytime yasuho would get groped, then the whole thing with tooru at the end annoyed me again. but still, she's easily the goat of jojolion, i wish there was more of her and josuke together instead of just ending it like that but it's not too bad of an ending, although the whole lucy thing was so random, rip though.

josuke himself was just alright i guess, the guy barely had any personality so i can't really hate him or like him, apart from the times where he showed concern for yasuho. don't like tooru and joshuu. the only real good characters in jojolion were yasuho, norisuke, yoshikage (part 4 version still the goat tho), i guess a few more like daiya and her older sis can also count. yasuho was not just my favorite character but she had the best stand design as well, thicc af. the best arc was dolomite's blue lagoon, i heard people say it's supposed to be vitamin c but that was just alright, blue lagoon was fun.

first 50 chapters were a 5/10 but after that it was a 7/10 so i'll go in the middle and rate it a 6/10, would've been higher is yasuho was treated better. more excited for move onto jojolands next, jodio already has a cooler design than part 7 josuke so i'm excited to see what kind of a story it is. this has so been hands down the most bizarre jojo part, definitely not my top 2 but it had it's moments.
