she will find both her friends and the guy will die.

Oooh, a poison counter shield. Nifty.
Raphtaila's tail is spiked up...
Next episode is called Raphtalia. Hopefully she gets some resolution next episode. What she had to experience in her youth looked terrible...
A rift happened between demi humans and humans. In melromarc is as you say but in tge demi human country humans are the slaves
salbery755 said: The greed and thirst for power of Mal-Bitch has no limits, the prostitute burned the forest in order to kill little Melty, the only thing I can hope for is that all the shit that Mal-Bitch accumulates and when the time comes, All that shit falls on her and she begs for mercy when the time comes for her to pay for her evil, Now Naofumi will have to go to meet the Queen who may be one of the few allies he has.
Today was a hard episode, we had the sadness to see a little bit of the past of Raphtalia.
What a nice person is Reichnott, it's nice when there are characters that are allies of Naofumi and the girls, and I thought it was amazing how stealthy he was when he met Naofumi in the woods.
At last a small breathe after all this shit storm that caused Mal-Bitch, Melty seems more used to Naofmi and his harsh way of acting, also is so cute when she blushes.
The stupid Scum King still blindly believes in the shitty Mal-Bitch shit, I want to see when the wife arrives and sees the disaster this bastard caused in the absence of the true ruler of Melromarc.
I was so sad to see Raphtalia again having nightmares about her past, but Papa Naofumi takes care of her and calms her down.
The rest did not last long, Reichnott is arrested and the soldiers enter the mansion in search of Naofumi and the girls.
What a disgusting and repulsive character is Idol Rabier, and seeing his buttery and greasy body makes it clear that he is a bastard and his eyes full of bad intentions and greed (he reminded me of Mal-Bitch), we also learned that Idol is a licks shoes from the church of the three hypocrites, although at this point that was already obvious.
Naofumi decides to go rescue Melty to not to betray the trust the little girl put in him.
Seeing how Raphtalia sees with trepidation the place that brought her so many miseries made me feel so sad, seeing the flashback of her arrival at the mansion of terror was so sad, but now Raphtalia wants to face Idol now that she has the strength and her sword to face him.
I already knew that Idol was a coward and it's no surprise that he hit someone who can not defend himself and seeing the nasty man threaten Melty with using violent methods on her made me wish someone would slit his throat and seeing his disgusting degenerate face when he cornered Melty made me want to throw up. Raphtalia has a difficult time as she enters the castle, every place she observes reminds her of her bitter past, until she sees the doors of the cellar.
Firo and Rapthalia arrive in time to stop Idol and Naofumi along with Firo rescue Melty from his disgusting hands.
Raphtalia was so brave in facing Idol and receiving those lashes full of painful memories, but in the end we see how she corners him and we see him pleading for his miserable and pathetic existence, but it is a pity that the episode ended without knowing what Raphtalia would do, to kill him properly or simply leave him in the hands of the Queen to pay for his crimes.
For the title of the next episode, I'm sure we'll see more painful memories of Raphtalia in Idol's mansion, but I hope the filthy coward proves the pain the next episode.
Too bad they cut the part where R says he bought custom made jewelery from Naofumi in the past. Is a funny moment: Naofumi apologizes for charging him so much for it and R assuring him it was worth it.
The next episode should close the story with the fat dude. Hope that they improved their CGI as many have complained about it in the preview for this coeur.

I really wouldn't bother with this series if it weren't for the art, music, and cute girls.
1. Even if they suspect most cannot do anything. Would you say anything if you would be in danger of losing your head?
2. catholic does not equal christian. The main branch are the orthodox. Catholics are heretics.
I was kinda happy that we were about to get some Raphtalia backstory HOWEVER , we got the most generic backstory you can ever ask for , I just hope she takes his arms off at least.
apparently the king has something against the previous Shield hero ? I'm not sure tho , also it seems like i'm not the only one who thinks Melty is annoying .
I hope this Raphtalia backstory arc works for something and gives her actual character development instead of just being your typical traumatic and edgy past for victimization purposes.
The only sure thing is that after this we're gonna have a "RApH bEsT wAiFu EvEr!!!" weebs horde.

Boring and generic villain. Evil just for the sake of being evil. At the very least it seems the king has deeper reasons for being like this, still he's dumb and deserves punishment. Speaking of punishment, when will the purge come? Lot of fuckers appearing lately these bitches need to be culled.
Hope the arc with the noble pig ends early in the next episode. We have heard many similar stories and it can get annoying when they get elongated more than we have patience for.
I hope the focus on Melty decreases later like it did with Filo.
Van Reichnott is a contender for the MVP of this episode. Not only did he fully give his support towards Naofumi, but when he got captured, he never sold Naofumi out about his whereabouts. He's got my respect. =)
Melty's plan also helped out Naofumi's group so that the greedy swine, Idol, wouldn't find them. But Naofumi made the right decision to go and rescue Melty, which fully confirms that he has complete trust in Melty's words and wants to keep his end of the promise he made to keeping her safe.
Raphtalia totally stole the scene at the end of the episode, as she never flinched at the multiple whip attacks on her and she proceeded to put him in his place. As much as I want her to finish him off, I really doubt that she will. Either way, I'm sure that the next episode will highlight more of Raphtalia's past and also focus on the friend that she made when she was a slave.
there is something strange about this episode, it feels like they don't normally slow down the speed of the flow in LN, of course this is good for story development, but I'm very disappointed and annoyed because they should do this all in episode 2 instead of cutting important content in previous episodes before, moreover the raphtalia arc in volume 1 was very important for the development of these 2 characters, if the studio did that from the start they wouldn't get fucking haters on this show

1. they are scared of making enemy of the church and royalty
2. well
the church of the 3 heroes is the result of the schism from the church of the four saints. The church of the shield separated just like the catholic patriarch separated from the other 3 bishops. So there are similarities although in history the catholics where the ones with just 1 bishop. Also the leader of the church od 3 saints and the church itself shares a lot of similiraties with the catholic church
2.2 I was thinking you made a joke on how well the melromac church look slike the catholic church
I wish Raphtalia would kill the fat noble but it most likely will not happen...
What is Shield Heros tactic... even if he could get to demi human town he would be fucked after next wave because of the teleportation..
At this point, it isn't even remotely surprising how far Malty and her Cult of the Three Heroes (as that's basically what it is rather than a church) will go to destroy Naofumi. It's just a matter of waiting for them to receive some form of retribution now, which hopefully Raphtalia will at least make a start on with Idol next week.

Ok then, well, just put it more in context instead of being broad about it, cause I’m pretty sure it takes more than just being threatening to make a villain good.

Why would they be scared of that? The church and royalty are absolutely reliant on them for defeating the waves, which gives the impression they're strong enough to fight them. Can't remember much from the manga since it's been a while, but in the anime thus far none of them have showed any suspicion. Rather, they're openly hostile to the shield hero.
Anyway, going off-topic here. My point was that they're cliche and lazy villains.
So much babyrage, honestly just sad, leave the computer for one week and come back later.
As for the episode, generic as hell and we are all expecting her to not kill him since we saw this thing 1000x. Not really invested in her backstory BUT it was a good watch.

there are villains like that in real life. That is why some kings we now called heroes they made it as first act as king to execute most of not all the nobles
About needing them to fight the waves this is true but I am pretty sure they can do a lot to control them from cutting funds to even kill tgem and summon others.

Except it wasn't? A character that doesn't pose a threat isn't a good villain. Doesn't need to be more specific than that.

Ehhh, I guess so, perhaps. I'll just end this off by admitting that the view on how villains are supposed to be will differ from person to person. Doesn't mean any one in particular will be necessarily right or wrong.
Why are so many people complaining about the "villain" noble that is not even a side character?
You can not even count him as a villain. Not even a Mid-Boss(sama). He's just random noble enemy #200
At this point people wont even be satisfied with Mynes upcoming.
Well the second half was interesting I guess.. Sad to say that this show is getting rather weak outside of making you hate certain characters/desire for revenge and Naofumi's character in general. The more it continues on the more apparent it becomes that's all it really had going for it to begin with. Despite that I'm still going to watch to see how the story will unfold.
They borked the writing on this one... They should have built up this man to be more of a real villain, shown the horrors and all that shit, so that we could empathize with Raph properly. We weren't made to care enough, and this guy is just a random smarmy overweight fuckwad...
At the very least i say Raph should kill him though. I find moral highground plots to be very tiresome... "Oh if you retaliate you're just as bad as they are hyuk hyuk"... If someone is a piece of shit, you rid the earth of them efficiently and then there is nothing further that needs dealing with. If you fuck around and don't remove the problem, you are only going to permit it's existence, especially due to the ineffectiveness of punishment as a resolution for a problem. Punishment doesn't motivate change, unless that punishment is horrific enough to strike boundless fear into those threatened with it, keeping them in line. If you let a shitbag off the hook or give em some tame prison time, then others are merely going to take their place, or they'll probably continue being a shitbag once they get out.
There is no damage to one's integrity or soul for a mercy killing or a vanquishing of a natural disaster. If a person is a natural instigator of horrors onto others, you aren't going to change that, and the world is better off with them dead and gone. The damage comes from revenge and hate killing. All you have to do is resolve your conflict and put him down for the sake of others and stability, not out of personal vendetta.

Well, let's be honest here. This is a type of logic you should understand everywhere. What happened in the past is the past, what happens in the present and future is in the hands of the person. There is no point in revenge other than bloodshed. Revenge leads to nothing but more revenge, more deaths, and more wars. Because you need a reason before you do something. He also recognized what Melty wanted to do and he let it happen. Had he acted recklessly, the whole kingdom would be on his ass like Malty and the stupid king wanted

If Raphtalia would spare the noble's life she should at least do some sort of meaningful damage/injury to him.
- Cut his hand(s) off to symbolize that he'll never touch another demis again.
- Blind him so he'll literally never look at a demis again.
- Slice his tongue so he'll never talk and trade about demis .
I believe Raphtalia should really cut off his arms and legs so he'll end up literally crawling on the ground like a worm or maggot for the rest of his life. Befitting a guy of his level. But I guess that would never happen unless the writer goes really dark.

Yes, because at the end of the trip they're just another random person you met that doesn't matter at all in your life
"There are border patrols, better put leveling up my allies on hold to meet with the Queen".
Hey Naofumi, here's an idea. Walk through it.
Just go to where border patrol is and walk through.
Jesus Christ man, he's so overpowered he can do whatever the heck he wants to "normal" people. Hell, he can almost, or based on last few episodes, definitely, beat other 3 heroes on his own, yet a border patrol is stopping him from strengthening his companions.
Sigh, it's obvious he's a newb. In an open world game with no limitations, do what you want as long as your level allows.
Hell, the other kingdom supposedly also respects Shield hero, not like they'd stop him from crossing.
I really don't like the series where the character is inconsistent. one time, the rage shield is like "this super overpowered should not be used" kind of skill. but then, every single fking time he faces a little bit of difficulty, he will definitely use the rage shield. I mean, cmon bruh. if it is dangerous and op and doesn't fit your character, why would you always use it beside that first time you really need it? have you grown so weak that the rage shield is the only option you have?
it is good that this anime doesn't go the ecchi road tho.
if you want good story, read novel. if you want good graphic, read manga. anime is beyond that.
This is one of the reasons why I love my fat ass chicken girl. If she's not being all fat, fluffy and cute, she's derping out.
For some reason, I enjoyed this episode the most because I'm excited to see if Raph is going to kill Idol. Is that other demi loli still alive and that cart full of cute demi lolis, where are they now? Also,Raph's tail getting a hard on whenever she's fucking pissed is fucking cute.
papsoshea said: The harem is complete. The one-dimensional villains keep pilling up. The plot doesn't even mean anything anymore since this show has turned absolutely shallow. The waves, the monsters have been completely overshadowed by these cartoonish bad guys who are written in a way to give the MC and his harem of loli's the high moral ground and to give us the precious revenge and justice porn. I don't even know what's the point anymore. The Shield Hero is here to "save the world" but these so-called evil people spend all their time and resources in incriminating Naofumi.
Forget the plot, this is all about getting back at all the assholes who smile smugly so people who hate authority and their parents can self-insert and feel good about themselves. "I love that valiant look in your eyes! I want to see it become despair" - Jesus fcking Christ! The cringe levels are off the charts, it's like the villains have all said something along those lines. And their actual reasoning for disliking the Shield Hero and the furries are so bottom-of-the-barrel writing. They are too cartoony and go against their own survival.
lol the "catastrophe" has been no more than an inconvenience, there's no sense of danger or urgency. Even though it's supposed to be the end of the world. Have there even been any civilian casualties yet?
It's like the author has ADD, they latch onto whatever idea they have for a random revenge plot whether it makes sense at that point in the narrative or not. Look, Naofumi is going to the demi-human country to level up - no wait, he's being framed for stupid shit again, now they're going to meet up with the queen - but stop, we need to have this random plotline with a cartoon bad guy.

Do it! Do it! Kill him Rapthalia!
TBH, I don't think Rapthalia will kill him, because, "that's not who she is" kind of stuff. But oh well, I still want her to kill that fat bastard.
Filo though, that Birb is just unstoppable. No walls can keep her away from Melty.

Nah, if anything the mercy would be for political reasons. She already said "How many times others have begged for mercy and you granted them none?" indicating she's ready to kill.

Those are some not bad suggestions tbh. Letting him go without a scratch would trigger me hard, mostly because of it being cliché moralfag stuff.
I mean if he only gave them hell but everybody survived, that's one thing, but it's obvious he's caused deaths. The only fair punishment for murder in my books, is death, or else imprisonment to conditions of extensive prolonged suffering.
OP is still awesome, one of the best this season.
Horse-man behind a real horse? Those 3 in the field posed as The Gleaners by Millet lol.
Shiroe from Log Horizon is back. Naofumi & Melty finally get more friendly now, and Raph faces her awful past.
This episode gave me a strong sense of anxiety, this show really went down in quality after those fantastic 4 first episodes or so, I hope this arc proves me wrong though, we've been getting more of the same ever since and it becomes tiring to keep up with, as we've already gone through the whole ordeal with Raphtalia's backstory and now after that much “development”, it felt like it never happened as they are trying to milk something out of her as if there aren't enough other character's to focus on.
I'm sure that whomever the girl she was having that nightmare about is still alive and willing to bet that she's that bird girl from the opening (Again, throwing spoilers in the opening), please doesn't let it be another figure that joins their little group, it's become so predictable and bland how every new member has to be a girl.
I've received a comment a while back that I appreciate because it helped clarify a doubt I had about the series that picked on the harem/romance element, and you know, almost every Isekai has a degree of that, and I thought this was going to be one of that exception and focus less on that and more on the journey. It seems that they really are kind of hinting at something between Naofumi and Melty there, and come on, look at the age gap there, that's a freaking underaged brat and an adult gentleman.

Man, I don't know about the song, I find it inferior to the first one in every way except for the stunning visuals. I don't know if it's going to be that song that grows on me with time, but it doesn't seem to be even though I listened to it multiple times till now.
On a side note, Black Clover's newest opening could have a placement in the top 3 openings of the season.
I appreciate how Raphtalia never directly says "oh i used to be this guy's slave" or "oh i have a friend who is still in captivity" and the audience is just allowed to come to that conclusion through her actions and moments of what I assume are PTSD.
I just hope the show can keep this good momentum, I don't want any more of the Episode 8-12 mediocrity.

I mean she says that this is her former home and there wouldn't be many other reasons for such a one dimensional character to be shoved into the story
