THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Episode 2 apparently came out online.

The OP song is pretty much exactly what I had expected from this anime. (although surprisingly catchy). The MMO elements are still pretty evident. I'm actually starting to like the comedy now. At first, I found it to be repetitive and dull but now has a fun feel to it.

In addition, this anime seems to explore social issues of the real world with some more serious moments. Lily and Hayashi's character relationship still seems to be one of the more important parts of this show especially in the virtual world.

Is there a delay to this stream on Crunchyroll today? I ask this because the countdown thingy is not showing Episode 2. For those are planning on watching the simuldub like me, the Anime News Network article "Funimation Reveals Fall Simuldub Premiere Schedule" says the simuldub starts streaming on10/30.

Update: it started streaming at 8AM Arizona time.

Being unemployed (looking for a job), I usu. most of my days (like 10+ hours) on the web. So, being a net junkie, I can kind of relate to our protagonist. It's also nice to see more anime with a female lead that is over 30.

Same, this is the story of my life right now, so I can totally relate to that

But yeah, it's pretty nice to watch adults and young adults in this type of situation instead of the usual teenager stuff

As for the episode, somehow our two MC's have managed to be even cuter when they're together IRL lol, I really can't wait to see when they find out each other's identity

When she got elbowed.... I thought oh i'm dead - > konosuba.
2 am email send:) that one killed me, good finisher.

I'm surprised she isn't just answering age question with its secret, classified information or something alike.

They are so cute together. Moriko spamming the cry emote was funny. She got elbowed by Yuta and he took care of her. How nice of him. Now they are going to dinner together. I can't wait until they find out who they really are.

Moriko Is Damn Adorable: The Anime

Anyway, jokes aside, that's quite the fateful meeting they had. A bit unique so I like it LOL

After that dream scene, I really wanna know what exactly made Moriko become a NEET. What did she experience that was so traumatic that caused her to become one.

I really want them to find out each others' real identity though, but I'm guessing that'll happen towards the middle or end fo the anime.

Really enjoying this so far, all the characters are good and I like the vibe/chemistry between Hayashi and Lily, I wonder how their real life selves will interact with each other once they find out their real identities.

The OP is really catchy, can't wait for the full version to come out.

Only 10 Episodes!?

Man, glad this is anime 'cuz Lily is being too doki doki feminine is unreal to me when it's clear whose behind that char. I just cannot put the two together and it's leaving me totally confused and having to do a on the spot gender switching in my mind on whose talking in-game to anime real life to save my sanity. There's no way a guy would talk that way like Lily does or maybe Ueda is doing too good of a job as her I wonder if Moriko thinks Lily is a girl too? And now that she got a guy's contact number is she gonna double dip?

The elbow to Moriko's face was a "oh damn!" moment but to knock her out another damn. I wonder how old the guy is tho.

i felt the same at first but i guess it's not unrealistic to think he's probably just roleplaying a little? we might get an explanation later on about why he puts on such a cutesy persona~

anyway, as for this episode it had a lot of good moments but overall it was just ok. a little boring i guess. i want to see more of the real life and less of the game so hopefully it gets like that later on, because we seriously lack good anime about adults in the more laid back genres like romance, slice of life and/or comedy.

this anime is so relatable, it reminds me of those times where I used to play mmorpgs, I even got a wife there xD, sadly it wasn't from my country, so far the only show of this season alongside Mahoutsukai no Yome (besides sequels) that I plan to watch towards the end

IRL second meeting is an actual meeting this time; she even got his number! I feel bad for her though, not accepting yourself is most painful thing to go through. You think you are fine with your current situation/self and when you realize you are not, it's like getting hit by a truck driving at max speed. Things will get interesting from here, wonder how she is going to deal with her problems.

The show no one really had on a radar.

It turns out to be super enjoyable and decent in all regards really. The relationship between the two mains gets developed slowly and now they met for good in real life as well.

The other characters from the guild are fun as well :D

Also little bits like the cry spam, the AFK face and the correction filter are super funny without trying hard.

This is the surprise of the season for me by now.

I assume being a corporate slave must have traumatised her.

This episode definitely makes me feel better about the series. The animation didn't dip and the comedy actually ramped up in my opinion, so that's good.

Also, I'm Very - VERY glad to see the story is actually progressing and not stewing in week to week misadventures.

With only 10 episodes and a special in December this series simply can't afford to waste time. In this episode we learn a bit more about the characters, Moriko has a Pink Floyd-esque nightmare which keys us into her fear and rejection of corporate life, Moriko meets Yuta and gets his number, and most importantly Moriko and Yuta have made plans to get together for food at some point (first date, sortov).

Moriko continues to be absolutely adorable and at this point has become waifu of the season, a 30 year old waifu in 2017, "who would've thunk it!?"

As I said above, this episode has given me a lot more confidence that this anime won't simply be another throw-away week-to-week bender with no resolution.

Look, I really like this anime. I'm really looking forward to it...

BUT.... I can think of many many ways this can go wrong/predictable.

Kami-sama, please don't let that happen. Please? Even if Moriko gets a bad ending, at least let it be an interesting one.
...but then again, I unironically like Warau Salesman.

This anime is just such a little gem.
I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do and I just love how they're mixing elements of real life and fantasy.

Oh, and I can totally get behind Sakurai and Moriko...they've only met like twice and I'm already shipping them! So cute!

I also love how the ED theme is done. Very clever!

I certainly hope not 'cuz I find that creepy and sick. I use to have a real woman who would role-play as her cat character but it'll a woman-type. Also, speaking from experience of real woman when they play guy characters the ones I knew could not hide they were females behind the screen and tend to slip up eventually and when I would play female characters it would be obvious to anyone that a guy was behind the char as I don't role-play at all but chose that char for the eye candy and nothing more not even for the stats plus didn't help much that I would dress her up in revealing sexy armor.

My guess and I hope it is is just the seiyuu is doing too good of a job as Lily cuz man doki doki indeed she's too unreal to be a guy behind that char. I can't see it. This series is pretty unique in that it is dealing with adults entirely at least atm and I'm seeing what a female neet may act.

oh no i don't mean him trying to trick people!!! i'm sure the other guild members know by now he's a guy. or just no one's ever asked. they've made it a big point in the show already about "well it's not like we know anyone's real gender" so i don't feel like they're setting it up to be like he was deceiving anyone ^^;

I love this anime, like it's just so enjoyable to watch, and this episode was super sweet, yet it hits real world problems perfectly, like how we're basically just robots during the day (getting up going to work etc, same old shit which is what Morikos dream was about).

Yet we can find salvation in video games, or anime, or online friends.

I'm really interested in Moriko's past as well. Seems like she used to play that MMO in episode 1 with a co-worker before shit hit the fan

Aww looked like we got our first meeting. Kind of cute how Moriko tried to hide her own age, she is so cute online and offline with her facial expression. I am glad to see Moriko rejected that offer, it just doesn't fit her personality to accept a date to the dinner.

Relatable and fun-- can't wait until next episode :D

Lets see, there are 87 chapters in the original webtoon.
They adapted about 20 chapters in two episodes (with some original content missing/changed though), so it looks like we will be able to see the whole series adapted at this rate (at least I hope so!)

Very enjoyable episode and I'm really digging this series. Moriko is so relatable and pretty funny lead.

I think my favorite part of the series is seeing the quick and short transitions scenes when Moriko reacts to something during her game play. They even played just enough of those scenes without spamming it. Which is a good thing because I'm sure this will happen often throughout the series.

The OP is still meh but the ED is really growing on me. It's a pretty good song in my opinion and I loop the part where Moriko spins around...only to collapse because she got dizzy and her spirit passes on.

Ahahaha! This is so cute! Seeing Moriko's reactions IRL as she talks in the MMO makes this so fun. Spam that cry emote!

Moriko's dream with all those workers is actually pretty depressing. Going to work like some robot...Sadly, this is the reality of Japan. No time for fun. Just work work work. It's one of the reasons why the birth rate is declining. Too busy to have a family...

I wonder what will happen when Hayashi sends Lily an email IRL while they're in game with the guild members around...That's going to be interesting.
