Positive: This is why Demon weapons/Cursed Gears were made! :D They increase the user's physical abilities, allowing them to catch up with NON-Nobles and NON-Progenitors in terms of abilities. As Guren and Shinoa said LAST season, the Black Demon Series are the S T R O N G E S T. Allowing kids who just learnt how to use it(Yu, Yoichi and Kimizuki) to still keep up. Shinoa and Mistu are both well versed in using cursed gears. Shinoa being the sister of the person who made them, Mitsu being of a high branch of the Hiragis. The more their connection with their demon, the more they work well. Since apparently every vampire who isn't a noble is very weak. Compared to humans with high ranked cursed gears? Obviously. Yes, this one most likely is weakened but its speed as we've seen should've at least given it some advantage and made this small battle longer than 2 seconds. Not really. Like I said above, C U R S E D G E A R S. |

| Oh lawd, Funi's subs are terrible. I spotted about five grammatical errors and one pretty big translation error. Did they not have a proofreader? HSSM's episode one subs were bad too. Anyway. I don't have heaps of thoughts about this series, but I'm interested in seeing Mika and Yuu interact more so I'm hanging around for that. Also, that one noble who takes little boys under his wing and corrupts them (read: makes them vampires sometimes) is about a hundred different types of creepy and gross. As for the comment about them being stronger than normal humans, I know that I just meant the kids with the cursed gear, since it seemed like such an easy thing with them just pulling out the weapons and heading to fight without using the weapon's abilities, if it had any anyway. Not equal, per se. But enough to fight and kill fodder/non-nobles easily. By fodder, I mean vamps who aren't really the focus. When I say non-nobles, I don't really mean, all non-nobles. I mean, I doubt they can take on Mika and his 2 partners-[ish](the vamp with blue hair and the one with a shave on one side and black hair) who aren't nobles. I do have 2 questions though since you most likely have read the manga: 1) Will the cursed gear be explored more than it already is in the series? Like how exactly was it made and the reason for Guren's different colour? unless that colour is the result of whatever made it. He said Mahiru I think if I'm remembering the name correctly. It will be explored/should be explored. HOW it was made, is said in the LN. I haven't caught up with the LN(in which Guren is the protag), but there're some hints as to how it was made. I can tell you, but that would be a spoiler. :P Yes, there's a reason why Guren's a different color. Correct, Mahiru made/invented them. 2) The vampires seem to have special weapons as well, doesn't that affect their abilities like the cursed gear does to Yuu and the others? So far, in the manga, we don't know alot about the vamps's weapons. It just seems to be a magical-ish weapon. They don't seem to be cursed gears. I doubt the vampires would even bother creating a weapon that makes them already stronger than they are. Their arrogance + them looking down on humans, means it's not likely for them to want to get stronger. All in all, I don't really know, lol. I doubt they're cursed gears, but, since it hasn't been explained what they are, to each their head canon. Ed: Reading my earlier posts, I feel like I sounded rude. If so, sorry. |

| Okay episode. Glad to see Yuu matured after what happened before. The animation is still kind of derpy to me. Hopefully, it improves soon. And Shinoa still best character so far. |

| Overall, the episode is not bad, but lackluster. I thought, wrongly, that they started talking about something else and not you ripartisse after the events that occurred in the previous season. Narrative was not very exciting, the character of Yu thought it was matured a bit, but I realized it was all a bluff, oh well! While not superlative storytelling, the scenarios and the OST, are of a different opinion; the first beautiful and pleasant the second. I hope we do not waste this second season to do a story dull and insipid. |

| Great start to the second season and I really like the more political direction that the show appears to be taking. -Mitsuba was ordered to spy on Yuu and also promoted. Of course her abrasive attitude was just a facade for her insecurities, but Yuu telling her that she could use her position to aid him was a pleasant surprise in terms of cleverness after seeing the way he had acted in the first season. -Shinoa's insinuation that Mitsuba exchanged information for a promotion. Nice to see more of her political side behind all of that cheerful wit and kawaii act. I wonder if she'll eventually begin asserting her position more, since currently she appears to be keeping a very low profile. How loyal is she to her family? Is it possible that she has been spying on Guren and other parties where keeping the position of a student and low ranking officer the most inconspicuous? That would be pretty cool, but it's a bit of a stretch. -I'm curious as to the exact conflict between Guren and the Hiiragi family and how much of that is in part due to what became of Shinoa's sister or how that factors in. And speaking of which, Shinoa's sister is the demon in Guren's weapon :O -Ah Kureto asking the question I had been wondering since episode 2: the reason as to why Guren had taken such an interest in Yuu and his friends. It was also intriguing to see him testing Yuu to determine if he's a spy while simultaneously testing Shinya to determine his standing. Shinya also doesn't appear to be treated well by Kureto (and possibly the entire family by extension), so I wonder if he'll eventually betray them. Wild speculations that are probably wrong: -Guren's claim of discovering Yuu back then as confirmation of a prophecy being correct is just bs to hide the fact that he probably had an informant notifying him of that some experimental children were attempting to escape. -Krul knew that Mika and his friends were "special" (or maybe she was actively experimenting on them as well but they weren't aware of it), "Seraphs" as she called them, and hence that was the reason why she spared Mika and didn't force him to become a vampire, even going so far as to providing him sustenance with her own blood. She is intending to eventually use him for something once he develops and the time arrives. |

| I haven't followed any owari threads until now so I'm surprised at the amount of love Shinoa is getting. As I've seen almost no character development from her besides suddenly realising a love interest with the help of ever-helpful Guren, I'm assuming it's probably because she's cute and mentioned "erohon" and got most of you semi-stiff, you foolish nerds, Sangu Mitsu is where it's at. ;D Just look at those short twin-tails. But moving on, I was really disappointed Shinoa didn't have any useful information after that serious sit-down moment with Yuu. Guuurl why'd you even sit down, it took 20 seconds to say what you knew. And damn Kureto is strict. His methods picked up my interest a bit but I gotta admit how they introduced that vampire was lame with that spotlight xD Jesus save me. But yeah, 5/5 literal back-stabbing; all in all an ok episode. |
| I... loved this. I don't get the hate at all; this episode was way better than almost the entirety of S1. The reveals, the Hiragi, the "interview," the bromance, the politics creeping up... everything was awesome. I wasn't expecting too much because I am quite apathetic about the first season (hence why it took half a year to finally get around to this). If this is a sign of things to come, then it looks like the second season will really elevate the series. I am pleasantly surprised. |

| Yu's voice became softer and calmer when talking to his friends. I actually thought it was a different voice actor lol. Anyway that Hiragi dude is a complete douche. Also I have a feeling that the gun wielding dude is the vampire's accomplice. I just know it. |

And wtf Kureto was literally talking to himself & answering his own questions lol that was a dumb interrogation. Almost seemed like an exposition dump-recap. Guren finally being honest. He answered Yuu honestly for once. Perhaps he now thinks that Yuu is ready, after all he’s been through. Guren remains fineeeeee as fuck Not sure if off-model drawings or intentional, some of their proportions were quite off this episode. It’s pretty jarring! |

| Yu seemed to pull like a 180 on his character to me. He was really annoying, but now he seems mature and quieter. It might just be me though. |

| A respectable start, after the mess that was the end of the last season. The ethical concepts explored in this episode were interesting, and seeing another side of the humans in the Hiiragi group benefitted the worldbuilding. |
