Only Shirobako could make a scene involving two characters who had been regarded as the "most hated" by the community become one very amazing scene. Well done.

They sure also love turtoring some fictional character, eh?

Still can't say I give a shit about Hiraoka.

So no one noticed the "Shirobeko" during Diesel's scene with Ema?

Actually, Shirobeko is the first animated work made by Musashino Animation when it started 39 years ago. Its full title is Amazon Shirobeko. It was mentioned back in episode 14 when Midori was interviewed by President Marukawa and Nabe-P. It was also mentioned during the welcome party at the start of episode 15 by President Marukawa during his speech. You can see its poster in close-up during episode 14 though it's been around throughout the series as one of the background posters. Not sure if it is a reference to a real anime.

Kunogi's first full line was about underwear. GET IT GIRL! Although I'm definitely getting a yandere vibe from her. That's how the show will truly end. She will murder everyone and keep Ema's drawings.

Okay joke over

But Ema was growing like crAazy in this episode. It may seem strange but I feel proud of her. She's worked so hard and she's almost there. The looks of satisfaction she was getting were perfect. And people wonder why I think she's best Shirobako girl.

Also, Misa finally got another appearance, they are so few and far between.

Shizuka definitely needs to get a role in the anime somehow. Maybe the mangaka's desire to see the last episode done again will allow Shizuka to get involved some how?

Definitely approve of the Tarou and Hiraoka development. I kind of feel a bit bad for him now, a bit....

You might forget about it, but Ri-chan is still a student and working as a part-time assistant for Musani while Eima is a professional animator already and about to promote from key animator to assistant supervisor.
The difference between their attitudes toward new jobs came from not only the difference of their natures but from their positions.

And the moment after the last straw, when it disappeared completely,
it can be far more dispiriting for you when you have to keep working for a job you despise than when you fail to get a job you respect.

Whenever I expect this show to not get any better, it just ups it's game and exceeds my expectations, yet again.

Ema's finally stepping out of her humble shell with encouragement from her peers, and given her talent for animation, it's the next progressive step towards her development. Kunogi, oh god, I laughed out loud the moment they showed her jealous brooding state, and taking courage from Ema's actions to try her meeting on her own was so "Kyaa!"-inducing! Seriously, where can I take one home?!?

Then with Hiraoka's animated back story. Despite my dislike for his character, I can't say that I cannot relate to what he went through to get to the hate-able state that he is in now. When you come up against constant abuse and insults from your superiors and peers, it does eat at you. Some people are just better able to take it on than others. That said, his current work ethic is still unpardonable, and I really don't see his character changing anytime soon. The bromance with him and Tarou though... I shudder to think about it....

It's also a treat to see Misa working hard and learning more about 3D animation, and that Miyamori was able to smooth things over with Segawa after Hiraoka's screwups. Still... I can't see this show ending happily for Zuka, and this makes me feel really bad about it.

That ending cliffhanger though. Episode 13 just got shot down....

All these emotions felt in the space of 20 minutes. Shirobako, you're the best!

The underwear discussion was one of the greatest scenes for me in the entire show. Second to Aoi's first drift.

I sadly caught up with this masterpiece. This is honestly way too good I'm amazed. The animation is GODLIKE. They people behind this worked so freaking hard and payed close attention to details and you can see it in every single episode. I don't think that I found a single scene in the anime so far that they missed animating properly. Every time a character moves, so does their clothes, their hair and what ever they might carry at that moment. Characters actually blink in a VERY natural way. I'm quite sure that a lot of people might even missed that. All the seiyuus might be young without many roles but DAMN they did a good job. The OST is also amazing. All that being not enough they don't overreact anywhere. The show is very realistic and educational so far. I mean who didn't want to know more about how anime are being made (and with all that detail) while watching an entertaining anime nonetheless. Also I have to say I'm amazed at how they protagonists are all young women and yet they are not sexualized at all and are treated normally without retarded postures or fan service from episode one. All in all I can't think of a single minus point for Shirobako so far. Really great job from P.A.

I agree with everything ^^^ and the bold is probably the biggest reason why I love this anime.

Tarou is even funnier when drunk and seeing Hiraoka's past made me understand him a little bit better but I still don't think it's okay for him to be doing what he did before because of what happened. Hopefully though this friendship with Tarou will make him change his attitude more.

Ai talking and the 3 guys reaction towards her was the best scene in this episode!! They actually wrapped up the voice acting so Zuka getting a voice role is out the window, omg funny story can't you do anything right?

I really hope there will be a second season of this because I don't want it to end.

However annoying Maeno was, he had his own passion to create a manga to some extent. If it were Maeno, he would act rather too intrusive with the anime, but at least, he wouldn't forget to give the manga author the scenario and the story board of the anime, I guess.

For the bold part, I think it's just PA Work's style in general. And it's also a reason why I'm a fan of the studio from what I've seen from them so far (except Glasslip but let's pretend that never happened. Again, in general, I love their art style and backgrounds and visuals). That being said, I do feel like they did put extra work into the details for Shirobako, maybe because they are making an anime about making anime... :) That extra work is doing them well, judging from the sales. About the VAs, I also like that PA Works some times likes to use the newer/less experienced VAs. Tari Tari was the first main role Hanae Natsuki had, and look how far he has come. Can't say the same though about Touko's VA...

Called it. It was so obvious they'd had to redo the final episodes... I'm curious how much of a disaster this will end up in. They are already behind their schedule. Having to rewrite the story boards means they'll have to record again, too.

It was interesting to see why Hiraoka is so unmotivated. I guess at some point you just start to not care anymore.

Kunogi was awesome this episode :D First she's all angry that she can't ask Ema about something but I guess she listened to what Sugie said and took her chance. The whole meeting scene was amazing! xD

Tarou and Hiraoka warm my heart. That brotherly moment. And who's Kameko, hmm? ;)
Everyone venting while drunk, it's classic but nice to have.

That editor... his incompetence is painful... but I saw it coming. Lets see how the disaster of the final episode will turn out! The dubbing is even done... I think this huge issue that will mess up everyone is an appropriate ending, as long as they don't succumb to the pressure! Hiraoka, I hope you contribute more!

Also, PA does have fanservice, but not in the sense of nudity or in a sexual way. It's moe. In Shirobako, the main characters are pretty moe in comparison to the rest of the cast (ex. the two ladies who were drinking at the food stand). Which is absolutely fine and much more enjoyable. Plus it wouldn't make sense to have nudity in this series - I mean it's an office setting more or less, and the main premise is to delve into the anime industry and the problems they have. I think the HQ can be attributed to the director's certainty on where he wants this series to go, kind of like the opposite of how the director for Exodus!. (Last part is my assumption though.)

Just two hours ago, a Tweet came out from the official Twitter account. It appears
to be very exciting news, but I will wait for somebody who knows Japanese well to
correct me.

In any case, it was been formally decided that the OVA included with Volume 7 will
be Episode 1 of "Third Aerial Girls Squad". Apparently, the OVA will be 24 minutes
long.

There is more in the Tweet, but I don't understand what it says.

Here is the link to the tweet.
https://twitter.com/shirobako_anime/status/578537717228683264

Volume 7 goes on sale on June 24th. It includes Episodes 19, 20 and 21.
As well, there is the OVA. Note that they are specifically saying "Episode 1"
which might be a hint that there could be an "Episode 2" of "Third Aerial
Girls Squad" some day in the future.

Volume 8 will contain Episodes 22, 23 and 24, and it is apparently the last
one. I don't see any indication that it will include an OVA.

Good to see Hiraoka's back story, quite sad, plus the guy lives alone with his cat. Likely depression, but hopefully tarou is the friend he needs to cheer him up a bit. Still going strong, there is sooooo room for much more of this show, there are a lot of characters to develop including the main girls, hiraoko, tarou. Sincerely hope they do make a second season.

Lol at Yano managed to stop Iketani for the 17th time!
Miyamori persuading Ema to be an Assistant AD (80 cuts) for the 13th (final?) episode.
Rii-chan isn't nervous doing script work but more scared on not becoming a scriptwriter.
Shizuka-chan is still always feeling down because of VA issues.
Both Tarou & Hiraoka are drunk and spitting-out all their bad-feelings towards their work.
Now we know what really happened to Hiraoka and also his past which results to his douche attitude.
At least Tarou is such a bro when drunk only...haha!
Dat glare of Kunogi because jealous of Ema & Mii-chan moments.
Good motivation words by Shigeru Sugie to help Ema with her Animation work troubles.
Laughed out very loud on the Kunogi scene about the Underwear...Kantoku was hilarious along with the other two!

But on the last part SHIT goes down again! Looks like author again scrapped the storyboards for ep 13.

Tarou and Hiraoka are already best buddies, that's sweet. Guess I understand and like Hiraoka better now (Tarou too) On the other hand, Ema is totally playing the senpai role properly now - that's sweet too. Meanwhile, there is Sakaki (sigh... it breaks my heart everytime they show her jobless) That transition was perfect.

Kunogi getting happy for Ema was <3 She actually reached the meeting alone, that was one the best scenes of the show if not the best LMAO. "Is this underwear?"

All of the episode 13 storyboard rejected... I was eating and stopped eating just then. WHAT THE HELL? THESE GUYS WERE WORKING SO HARD, YOU ANNOYING MANGAKA, YOU CAN'T EVEN ATTEND ANY OF THE MEETINGS AND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO GET ANGRY, SO ANNOYING... Why am I getting mad?

In its small way, this episode can cover a breadth of purpose that leaves me appalled, thinking instead about what other TV series have failed to do in the entire span of the transmission. There is almost everything in the narrative, it is unable to empathize with the character of Hiraoka, also shed tears for her past; understand the great strides made by Ema, admire the preciousness of the daily highlighted with the parallel of various characters as Zuka-chan, Nao and his colleague and their work problems or existential. Then we could talk about the comedy, cute and nice view with Kunogi that interacts with and Madoka Kinoshita. And yet with Segawa and the imprint responsible and serious that he always had this anime. In short, a valuable test that shows that we are faced with something that really deserves and I emphasize, to be valued as it should be. Discrete designs and animations, it is unfortunate that this TV series is already ending.

I anticipated that. What ending would this show have if not for some drama in the end.

I feel sad for Zuka though, she being unable to get her dream job. But maybe distributor is happy with work they are doing right now to make this two-cour or to be continued? Who knows, maybe they'll incorporate new character for Zuku after all.

But this late in the game, that's harsh, there goes their two-week edge over airing, time to put some changes to ep13 and make everything again (dub retakes included)!
