I'm a college student who is majoring in history, and planning on getting a PhD, but who secretly (or not so much xD) wants to watch anime and play video games all day long.
I try to watch at least 10 shows each season so that I can get a good feel of anime fandom as a whole, although I certainly have preferences!
I tend to watch shows that are psychological, dark, or coming of age stories with romance thrown in for good measure. My favorite genres are fantasy, and science fiction. However once in a while, I get the urge to watch generic high school, romantic comedy series, which are heavily speckled with fanservice. I'm also a sucker for moe, and I really like lolis. (Not in a creepy way, I swear xD)
My expanded Top 10 Anime List are as follows (in no real order)
Eureka Seven
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Steins;Gate
Death Note
Madoka Magica
Zetsuen no Tempest
Gosick
Valvrave
Kill La Kill
Haruhi Suzumiya
Plus many more. I never really hate an anime series, I find something enjoyable about every series I've watched. So, I don't really regret any of them. I also don't drop anime due to my obsessive nature. I might put something on hold for forever, but I won't drop it.
There really isn't a method to my scoring system either. Sometimes I rank shows by how much I like them, and sometimes by how good they are. Ideally I average the two into one score, but sometimes I don't.
I love talking to people who love anime, so feel free to message me anytime you want.
I'm also a huge BONES fan, and I made it my life goal to watch all of their works. I currently have two remaining!
Completed my 100th anime, Akuma no Riddle on 6/20/14
Completed my 150th anime, Nisekoi on 3/24/15
Completed my 200th anime, Boku no Hero Academia on 6/26/16

I've yet to completely delve into part V, but from what I've currently watched/read - III and IV are tied in my book.
And Jojo: DiU is where Araki (the author) truly found his stride with the series. From what I could tell, Part VII expands upon that even further.
I think SC, DiU, and Part V have had the most impact upon a good portion of manga today.
I have read you in the "EroManga Sensei" part of the forum. I want to invite you to the new founded club for "EroManga Sensei"
This may come out of nowhere, especially since I've never posted here before...but do you guys know of any manga with harpies in it besides Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou? Thanks!
Try 12 Beast. Its from the same guy that wrote Monster Musume.
I must admit I'm not big on older mecha from the 80s either. Though I haven't watched a lot, its mostly because of the style. I really can't stand the ones in the 70s however. 90s, I like more when it comes to mecha, but yeah, I'm more into modern mecha too.
You're in luck then, while the mechs are important in Code Geass, they're far from the main element. Its actually a show a lot of people who don't like mecha actually like because of that.
By the way, Bones was founded by former Sunrise staff members. Sunrise is kind of the king of mecha in the industry so that may be why the Bones leadership like to do as much mecha as they do.
The key to finding the right series is the year it was made in, I found that series released within 5 years of one another often have a similar vibe in the mecha genre.
You know its actually strange, looking at my list, I've seen a lot of mecha and yet I wasn't even into the genre when I first started. How did you start becoming a mecha fan?
