I think this was a special premiere with two episodes.

Anyways, the second part highlighted more with family virtues. Really decent stuff if you look at it carefully. I like how the mood fits perfectly in tune with the atmosphere. It was a lot more lighthearted as we see the closeness between the characters. Good stuff. The dancing movements were kinda eh to me though.

The importance of that message!
To give up the spoils of robbing and go back to feed Ronja!
Showing Ronja eating ^^ and everyone is so doting for her!

Ronja growing up already, it was nice to see her actually join in the fun.
Getting ready and sent to her own adventure of exploring. Mattis with all those warning and some by the watchers, such worrywarts! Really liking the atmosphere of this show!

Seeing as there are Harpies, and the premise of the series is based on a Swedish children story, I wonder what other mysterious creatures are inhabiting the forest

This show is ultra cute. Sweet OP and ED. Haven't read the book, but certainly enjoyed the detailed work in presenting every character. The animation is a bit strange, but the characterization is fitting and lively, with a good sense of humor, and the doting father is a gem. (The gang reminded me a lot of the Dobunezumi Group and their unwavering dedication to Meru-chan's well-being :) ) Lovis is awesome.

It's amazing how father and daughter can understand each other with so little words and tons of "common sense". Whenever Ronja replied with "Okay, I got it", I felt like having one heart attack after another.

I loved the episodes and would like to see the whole story. Good work, Goro-san.

The feeding & crawling scenes were too cute! >.< Damnit, Ronja grew up too fast.

Mattis being overly concerned about Ronja's safety was nice to see. He surely knows there are various dangers in the forest and still let his daughter go. Quite a strong dad he is!

The forest sceneries are beautiful! As expected from Ghibli. Only if the characters were not CG animated. *Sigh..

Decent episode, but the pacing is still slow. But given the show has 26 episodes, it might take a little more time before it starts to get real good.

It was nice to see that Mattis being is concerned about Ronja's safety.

Ronja is going to the forest alone.

I actually hoped Ronja would forever stay as a baby. That feeding scene was so cute I almost died.

After all the reminder and advice Mattis gave her, I was actually hoping he'd give her a pair of boots.

Awww baby Ronja too adorable~ And lol when Ronja kept asking what she should do if she were to *insert problem here* She's such an obedient child. I was wondering about why she didn't have shoes as well though.

The art/animation of this is interesting... it's quite different to your traditional style, that's for sure..
The use of flat colours in such a fashion in this anime is what sort of puts me off. in some instances, everything seemed really out of place. Otherwise, this series doesn't seem half bad!

Now that Ronja is finally older, the fun is going to start.

I'm not really into this animation yet, but who cares? The story is what is important. And I see that this is going to be a great fun to watch.

I know that the CGI here does have some flaws but seeing baby Ronja scenes were totally cute. I suddenly remembered my baby cousin back there.

But I guess its dangerous for Ronja to go to the forest alone in that age. And a 2-cour show? Damn, there'll be a lot of leftovers next year.
The world shall know the truth soon.

What an interesting anime. If only it wasn't 3D... i hate that. It would be 10 times better if it was usual anime artwork.

After this episode, I'm not sure making this 2-cour was a good idea. The pacing so far was kinda slow imo and I think they should've gotten to the forest part in the middle of ep 2 already... skipping a few of the "Ronja is such a cute baby"-parts. When they have a 2ep premiere and nothing really important happend yet, I feel like quite a few people will lable this as boring and drop it before it even gets to the good parts :c
Then again, 1cour would porpably be too fast.. I feel like around 18 episodes would've been perfect.

Plus the spoiler.. why do they hint to things so early in the show, doesn't make much sense to me. Then again I might only just feel like they hint anything because I know what's going to happen.

Also, Lovis finally showed how badass she actually is. Gosh, I love that woman so much.

I still wish they would've gone for an traditional art style, for the simple reason I didn't like Arpeggion either. The movements look so off.. other than that, I think I could get used to the style but those movements. >.<

Anyway, I still love this show and now I really feel the need to watch the movie and read the book again. It's been way too long.

Pacing was really slow, and cgi doesn't help, something about it makes the characters feel slow motion. I think they're using the advantages of 3d too much it becomes a disadvantage.

Was waiting for her to grow up and run into the forest the whole episode and when it finally happens, it ends :( they should've started with ep 2 and 3, and show ep 1 after that.

Anyways, got a really good feeling about this so far, like im about to see something I haven't seen in anime before.

This and Parasyte are the best anime of the season so far imo

Regarding the episode, it could've been a little faster, but it was loveable nonetheless

Two awesome episodes! I can still recognize the ghibli style ^^
I think they have done a really good job on the CGI so far, and the music is so fitting too.
I was worried by the look of the trailers but i believe that Studio Ghibli can make great series like they make phenomenal movies.

What a gang of fearsome robbers!

Best. Advice. Ever. :

-Swim

Anyway, I'm liking it so far. Not a great show to me, but more then watchable, and adorable at times. The CGI isn't superb, but doesn't affect my enjoyment whatsoever.

finally she grew up! I thought the baby age would never end. Took a bit too long, imo.

I'm kinda upset because the concept sketches in the ending are sooo pretty and nice to look at and then the anime is this unfinished looking cg that doesn't flow well...
It would've been really pretty in traditional animation especially ghibli style animation but I guess they opted for the quicker and cheaper way..

besides that the anime has a nice relaxing feeling to it..

That's how felt. I got bored before the end. the thing was just too slow.

Didn't notice much of a spoiler so i guess it only goes if you know the story.

Great episode! I like how Ronja grew up and when I saw her walking on castle yards and then leaving it behind I got those vibes of old Ghibli movies and that's always good thing :) I am really glad I watched this, it was heartwarming experience. In the end this could good series, getting Ghibli-like stories every week :)

I really enjoyed this one, can't wait for her next adventures!

Already a bit better I must say but well this show would've been a lot better in a similar art style as they showed on the ED I must say, either way let's see what's next.

There are definitely parts where I can appreciate the work that went in into this. On the other hand there isn't enough going on for how long this is. The good character moments are too few and the awkward cgi and lines come too often.

I'll spoil myself on what comes later to see if that sounds worth sticking around for, but I'll probably drop this with a 5 or a 6.

Getting back to the cgi. There are parts and characters where it's fine, but for the most part it isn't. Ronja and her dad are mostly animated okay and even the mom isn't too bad, but the other characters are distracting any time the move. The more complicated a character's hair is the more distracting it is. It's all uncanny stuff, where the parts that are right call attention to the parts that aren't.

The parts that stood out to me as good were the dad deciding to stop babying Ronja (though I wonder why she couldn't have any supervision on her first trip), him imagining her falling into the pit (until they turned it into another dad joke), and animation acting for baby Ronja.

More interesting than the first episode now that Ronja is a real character. I hope there's a good mix of Slice of Life style episodes that don't necessarily have whatever tense conflict of the day inserted.
