she kinda looks like maomao
well, so this is an isekai
she's gonna be so broken, she can create whatever she wants with her pen

The start was kind of meh, but it got better towards the end. It looks a bit ugly because of the saturated colors, but the animation seems really good.

Like the others I thought maybe this would be some love letter to animation.. nope.

Can't belive MAPPA is wasting production time and money on an Isekai 💀

One Punch Man season 3 and MAPPA's other upcoming big projects better look amazing.

@Ibs OPM S3 isn't being done by MAPPA. It's by JC Staff.

That looks like a dumb as fuck anime to get “massive” recognition from. Though then again, these people know how their domestic market works, so yeah, draw them something which whirls around wearing a short skirt plus transformation plus cute girl and bingo. Still this girl being a whole talent center herself, was portrayed the way I thought she would by reading whatever little was present of this series. I mean she’s arrogant and has closed herself off completely. Doesn’t like taking opinions and yeah, isn’t liked by her coworkers as well, except she’s talented so yeah, they have to take her seriously.

Btw, how she got transported to the other world was anything but serious. So yeah, GUYS PLS EAT YOUR FOOD PROPERLY, AND CHECK THE CONTENTS WHILE EATING. Pretty standard stuff though overall, with how she failed to communicate with her own characters properly and ended up being the deadweight she would’ve always been if it wasn’t for her talent, minus the entire sequence where she helped those people with that dope transformation. So yeah, this looks GREAT(it needs to be in capital), visually, though again, this ain’t a series which is depicting the numerous struggles of animators in the industry, which I thought it’d.

Decent enough start. Nothing more nothing less. She should show her face more though, I mean she looks good xD
@Softhenic03 A dumb as fuck anime to get massive recognition from?

One might have thought the same of Sailor Moon once upon a time long, long ago.

This isn't an isekai because she didn't die! She read the notice about the death of a woman from food poisoning, so she was just dreaming about it while she was fainting.

The episode was average.

It was alright, I was expecting something more in line with Bakuman. Not really a fan of the protagonist hope she gets better in the next episodes. I think it could be interesting if she goes to multiple worlds (each being her inspirations growing up or something), we'll have to wait and see

Natsuko Hirose, an animator who comes from the “Reality” realm.
From the trailer I thought it was going to be about animators and it has something of that xd
I liked the first chapter, it's curious.
Let's see how it continues, the last scene was really good.
The ending is very good.

This series have more to do with Eizouken than the average isekai.
@PaninaManina Right?! When I heard the end of Unio's spell, not to mention saw all the visual references to Nausicaa, I started fangirling; and there's likely a ton of other references I didn't and won't notice too. I really hope they're cooking up something with Zenshuu because with that many references, especially iconic Ghibli references, they are setting the bar so high and my emotional investment is like 110% lol

I think the first episode suffered of some "betrayed expectations" effect, at least for me.
I watched the trailer a couple times (I watched the first Teaser trailers, not the Main trailer that came out recently) but couldn't really tell what it was about, basically I thought it was a movie (not a series) on the same note of Lookback, so meta and a bit psychological, maybe even dark. But apart from some glimpse of the "sad story" she needs to prevent from happening, the first episode was very bright.
Saturated colors, crazy designs (the city major's whiskers lmao) and a lot of neurotic comedy that wasn't funny. I thought the girl would be deadpan and obsessed but she's just a flustered otaku. Also the reincarnation death happening through that ridiculous rainbow clam... It's clearly a "this a comedy show, folks!" flag.

I don't know... there's far too much lightness for me not to think that this is gonna be another exotic but braindead original like Bucchigiri... but I want to be hopeful.

Man, the comments are very weird about this one. I suppose I sort of thought this would be something like Bakuman but its actually just a weirdly set up isekai. I honestly haven't seen an isekai since...Drifters, I think? Does that even count? I guess I watched Overlord more recently but that started in 2015...yeah I don't watch isekai shows. So whatever, I'm not burnt out on a creatively bankrupt genre so I don't have any particular feelings about this being one of those.

Of course, the Nausicaa reference instantly gives this show a few episodes' credit. The animation scene was also a cool take on the magical girl transformation thing. I think people should just not be so weird about how this show "betrayed" them or whatever idiocy. Its one episode in, it looks nice, and it might go somewhere interesting. At the very least, I don't think it will be bad.

After watching the first episode, I was deeply impressed by the polished graphics and completed animation, especially in the latter half of the episode. Although it belongs to the isekai genre, I will not immediately assume that this series will be as bad as most others. The studio behind it is MAPPA, which is known for adapting popular manga into anime. With JJK, we’ve seen the level of investment and the ‘exploitation of animators’ here. This is quite a risky move as it’s the first time they are producing an original anime without relying on a manga. Therefore, I’m really looking forward to this series, wondering whether it will become an absolute cinema anime or just a trash.

While I understand the concept of the anime, it doesn’t leave a strong impression on me. Even so, I don’t dislike it. For now, it holds a solid 5, which means it gets the job done. I like the protagonist, and the plot seems entertaining enough to not feel like I’m wasting my time.

She's from the Kingdom called Reality and she is an anneemator? Well, that's good to hear lol.

Mappa did a great job here!

I hope she gets a hair cut soon.
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

I'm honestly a little surprised by how many people really didn't like this. Some of the animation was GORGEOUS to me, and I thought the plot was pretty unique, for like, an Isekai.

I also really liked that for almost the entirety of the first episode, you don't see Natsuko's face, which I read as a metaphor for not only her writer's block, but also for how antisocial she is.

Granted, I did see posts where some people sort of felt bait-and-switch(ed), because they thought it would be a slice of life, and not an Isekai. And for that, I do understand and can empathize with their frustration.

For me, though, going in knowing nothing about the show - I found quite a few elements refreshing. And again, extremely impressed with some of the animation.

Crazy first episode.

The graphics as she was drawing were super cool, so idk why everyone is hating it so much. What about this is average?

I'm sure Luke will give Natsuko some inspiration to finish writing her previous unfinished work. She clearly doesn't have a love interest until now so how is she supposed to make a story about romance?

Its quite sad that everyone is so quick to judge solely because of MAPPA and not even give it a fair chance. Its the first episode damnit. This is why I hate anime watchers, especially new watchers.

She deus ex machina'd with the creature from Nausicaa that Eva's guy animated. She Miyazaki'd them, way to go. Every animator knows that trick probably.

Good series, animation is top tier. But not shounenbros so can't be the highly rated. Oh well. Still good tho.

Quite an intriguing plot. Not a classic isekai but kind-of isekai nonetheless. I assume Natsuko is either dying in "reality" from food poisoning or is in a coma. And that world is one of the last thoughts she had before collapsing, so her dying/slumbering mind took her there. With a singular power to change its depressing story by literally redrawing it. Cool..

probably won't go on with this, at least for now... just a little curiosity about the beginning and the possible meta commentary, but i thought it would have gone back and forth between present day and the isekai part somehow. Sailor Moon-esque character looked bad with that mouth mask on, and i'm not buying the main character lack of face reveal (well, until later) as something interesting, but i won't complain about the "animation montage" that also as a Sailor Moon-esque thing turned out to be decently entertaining. Italian dub voice actors always nice to listen to, older and newer generations included.

The premise was REALLY interesting, but if the MC is always hiding her face with her hair... It's rather annoying.

I will probably have to drop this... Sigh, if they don't stop hiding her face. A wasted potential to see the fmc's face every week.

Btw, the baby unicorn is seriously weirdly animated.

P.S. Just because it's from MAPPA, there's 500+ who loved this...

Anyway, it's an interesting twist of the isekai genre.
CrazyButNot4UJan 26, 5:24 PM
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

mixed feelings... it looks good, but it's a generic isekai in its core, with the main character dying and receiving some power (because, of course) related to her previous life...

the differential, if I can call that, is how her background life is more elaborated than what we usually get, and she is transported to a movie she knows, what open to different scenarios than regular isekai (although, seems like most "reincarnated as the villain of an otome game" animes also give the mc knowledge of the future events)

will keep watching for now, to see if there's any interesting development

Didn't exactly expect to start this show and have the opposite of Action / Fantasy / Isekai tags for 5 minutes. But I guess every isekai needs some exposure of pre-life before we get to the gritty stuff. Protag with no face thrown into another world from a clam lunch, suppose that does the job.

Getting isekaid into a creation you're familiar with can't be that bad tho. Be prepared for whatever the story has in store. Altho nobody else believes em and the rest go along with that. A hero vs an army of monster voids.

Show is weird tho. With the brief cut away to the girl in the movie theater 16 minutes in. And of course the mangaka saves Unio by finishing the manuscript. The cutting to previous life scenes feels weird given the isekai tag, but hey this is another world off the first ep. Let the action keep rolling.

Speaking of, timing yourself drawing a giant thing does wind up being a pretty useful ability.
